Quickdraw Short i

Type of activity Objective Listening To help students practice listening for the short i vowel sound in a fun and tactile way. To review the ten short i sounds in Speak Right Read Right Kit One. Worksheet, scissors. Make copies of the worksheet, one per student Ten - fifteen minutes. 1. Give one copy of the worksheet to each student. 2. Each student must cut out their short i sounds and consonant cards. 3. Start slowly, by making real words using a consonant and a short i sound. The students must find the sounds and put them together. The first student to make the word gets one point.

1. You could also say 4 consonants and two short i vowel sounds and see who can make the most real words from those combinations. 2. If you have finished teaching the short i sound, then these cards will work well as a fun test. As the teacher says the word, the students will take them and glue them in to their workbook.
