    Judges in Tunisia go on strike

    Judges in Tunisia went on strike yesterday calling for higher wages.

    The judges carried out a strike in all courts except urgent hearings related to the issues of childhood and the transfer of detainees.

    The strike comes at the invitation of the Association of Tunisian Magistrates to demand better wages and improved working conditions.

    Following the revolution of 2011, Tunisia has experienced frequent strikes in several sectors, including education and health to demand better wages.

    The current government says it is determined to move forward in implementing tough reforms in governance and anti-corruption measures in state institutions under pressure from international financial institutions.
