Diplomatic Corps In Moscow Shrinks Just When U.S.-Russia Tensions Are At A High

Buses with U.S. diplomats and their families who have been expelled from Russia leave the U.S. Embassy compound in Moscow on April 5. They were the first of a group of 60 U.S. diplomats who have been expelled from Russia, after the United States kicked out the same number of Russian diplomats.

Last week, 60 U.S. diplomats and their families boarded a charter plane in Moscow and left Russia — maybe forever.

They were the latest casualties of a tit for tat with Russia. In late March, the United States said it was kicking out the same number of Russians to show solidarity with Britain, which blames Russia for the poisoning of a former Russian intelligence officer in England with a rare nerve agent.
