About this audiobook

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day comes the first novel in the Crossfire series—a provocative masterstroke of abandon and obsession that redefined the meaning of desire, and became a global phenomenon.

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness...

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds...and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart...

Editor's Note

Step aside, ‘Fifty Shades’…

Move over, “Fifty Shades”—there’s a new hot zillionaire in town. Day’s “Crossfire” series ups the ante on everything its predecessor set out to do as it explores the hearts, minds & bedrooms of lovers with tortured pasts.

    A big NO.
    Noo, nooo, noooo.
Felt to me like fan-fiction about 50 Shades of Grey.
    Absolute lack of originality!
Though, the best part of the book was hilarious, detailed GoodReads reviews!

I didn’t think I’d love this book because of f the similarities to FSOG, however I like this series more and I can’t wait to read the next book.

The narrator is absolutely awful. Does it hurt so much to hire a man to read Gideon's part?
I read this story and loved it in the past, but this narrator absolutely murdered this story.
Also it's EH-VAH, not AVA like this narrator pronounces! Good god.

Couldn’t finish it… felt like it was ways to long bc the same things happened over and over again. The author was great at writing the scenes but most felt forced. Like how do you always want to yk? And there were just too many red flags for me. Like in the beginning how he continued to make advances after she said no and how he would wake her up by literally being inside her l!? Also, her saying no l, but him not stopping. It was just a huge turn off.

Like it so far but... did anyone else found it rather creepy that the girl narrating the book kept making a weird voice for gideon? Couldn’t even truly enjoy the sex part because of her voice! Kept kreeping me out.

Bared To You has a definite 50 Shades feel to it. Our hero and heroine are both emotionally damaged and being together is a constant push and pull for them. We follow their turbulent relationship as they each try to understand the other's wants and needs. I admit that the two protagonists in here didn't work as well as our 50 Shades couple for me. Maybe because this couple in here steeped in so much realism. While I could never imagine a REAL Christian and Ana, I could imagine a real Eva and Gideon. And that made me uncomfortable. I didn't like Gideon's dominance. It was insulting. Eva also made me feel uncomfortable. With her past, I wanted to see her not so accepting of people's taking advantage of her. The sexy scenes are off the chain with unbelievable chemistry. :) The over all story line was quite engaging and I liked that Ms. Day isn't promising an HEA in here. I don't know if I will read the sequel as I just wasn't that taken with the characters, but I do recommend this book for those who enjoyed 50 Shades and are looking for a more realistic adult version.

If you liked "Fifty Shades of Grey" you will love this book.

It is basically a similar story. A young woman works for sexy Gideon Cross's ( a well off business man) company. When they meet they feel instantly connected. Their love grows stronger and deeper, but they are still haunted by their troubled pasts. Between Ex's and drama this book will keep you wanting more. It is erotic and it tends to make you crave a full on consuming relationship like the one in the book.

Eve moves to Manhattan and starts a new job. In the same building as her job, she meets the wealthy and domineering Gideon Cross. Both have been traumatised by events in their childhoods. A passionate love affair means they have to deal with past issues.Eve's frustrating neediness is quite irritating. I kept reading as I wanted to find out what Gideon's traumatic childhood experiences were. Imagine my frustration when I reached the end of the book to find out that it is the first in a series and I would need to read another book to find out. I think not!

I thought the story was great but the female lead is just way to childish. She said she wasn’t ready for a relationship but she got so pissed at being treated like a hookup. For someone so grown, she was too childish.

What a page turner! Solid performance by Jill Redfield - Excellent narration of all the characters through all of the ups and downs. This story is jam-packed with drama - too much drama for me, but that is just me personally. I don't think it is too much for most readers. I'm really glad I tackled this series with enough heat to burn NY to the ground!

My bestie warned me that if I hated this book, me and her were done. I'm therefore very excited to report that Gideon Cross delivered. I like jealous scenes so this book hit my sweet spot over and over and over... ?I'll also be needing a lot of showers because Gideon is that guy??. I clearly have a type ??. I'll be discussing all this with a therapist in the near future.??

Great book and story, steamy af! But why are they just constantly arguing and not in a hot way. Like honestly I was kind of over the stupid fighting.

The first half of the book was good. However I couldn’t finish it. Yes it has hot sex scenes. But both of the main characters are just so broken all the way through to the point that it’s just becomes a real turn off.

Corny! I love smutty books as much as the next person but this one was so cheesy and tasteless. Typical damsel in distress archetype, very cringy. I did not like the main character at all and I feel like the character is doing females a disservice. Everything about her, the way she ran off every time, but then goes running back to him. Story line was so predictable and no originality.I had to stop. BIG EYE-ROLL.

The story was not great. Sometimes it felt like the author was in a hurry to move forward with the story, and that left some situations where the characters seemed too forgiving. However the performance was very good, and I am sure others might enjoy this story more than me. It was overall very steamy, which was nice.

I read this series as it first came out and it has always held a special place in my soul. Within each book, you feel each character grow (or not) and get to understand where they come from and see why they act the way they do. Soooo many layers upon layers within this series. I cried during the last book, I didn’t want it to end.

I don't know why sexual harassment is entertaining. Rich powerful head of company demands brand new employee have sex with him and keeps hounding her after she says no. He knows all about her (think stalker, even she questions it, but brushes it off) but he's just so darned good looking, we're just supposed to ignore the fact that he's an absolute creep. Stopped listening at chapter 5.

This is going to be a quickie review. I really enjoyed this book. I?ve never read FSOG, and I?ve seen this compared to that book frequently. I loved that there are some pretty dark demons both Gideon and Eva need to overcome. Add in crazy families, and it?s bound to be a rollercoaster ride.

Everything happens in a very short span of time. Both characters are possessive, but I like that they were able to deal with their jealousy for the most part. We find out Eva?s backstory, but Gideon is still a mystery. I think I know, but I?m hoping I?m wrong.

I?m anxious to continue with this series. It?s incredibly hot, and engaging.
