About this audiobook
Alice Howland, happily married with three grown children and a house on the Cape, is a celebrated Harvard professor at the height of her career when she notices a forgetfulness creeping into her life. As confusion starts to cloud her thinking and her memory begins to fail her, she receives a devastating diagnosis: early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Fiercely independent, Alice struggles to maintain her lifestyle and live in the moment, even as her sense of self is being stripped away. In turns heartbreaking, inspiring, and terrifying, Still Alice captures in remarkable detail what it’s like to literally lose your mind...
Reminiscent of A Beautiful Mind, Ordinary People, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, Still Alice packs a powerful emotional punch and marks the arrival of a strong new voice in fiction.
Editor's Note
An emotional debut…
Grab a tissue. This fierce, emotional debut from Genova — who holds a doctorate in neuroscience from Harvard — captures graceful bravery in the face of a devastating disease.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The story explained what was going on with someone suffering from Alzheimer's disease. It was clear and concise; very informative and a little scary about what a person goes through with this disease knowing that it could happen to you.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Engrossing and tragic story. Not the best writing, but perhaps it was just the way it was read aloud. The narrator/author sounded like she had a cold, she was nasal and you can hear her breathing every couple of words, somewhat distracting. But would still recommend if someone wanted a more personal view of Alzheimer's.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very real characters depicted so I cared. Informative. Beautifully written. Story paced right, with a surprise or two rewarding the reader, especially towards the end. Important life questions of value and options in the face of decline raised as well. I loved it.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fantastic book! It was Heartbreaking and beautiful all at once.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Lisa Genova please buy the book Cleanse to Heal to learn the true cause of Alzheimer and heal from it like many have. It’s caused by Mercury and Aluminum poisoning in the brain, both together do this but separately they cause other issues but not Alzheimer.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Lisa Genova, the author of “Still Alice,” has a Ph.D. in neuroscience and works as a columnist for the National Alzheimer’s Association. Her novel tells the story of a 50-year-old Harvard psychology professor, with a happy marriage and three grown, successful children, who is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease and over the course of two years experiences serious cognitive decline. Genova made the bold decision to tell the story from Alice perspective, and while the novel is not entirely successful—in places the writing is more clinical than literary, and there are certainly moments of melodrama—overall, it’s a moving and very sad book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A fantastic and gripping read. Intense storytelling with vivid characters and a very emotional plot.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Could never have imagined how the mind of an Alzheimer patient functions until reading 'Still Alice'. Thank you for your book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The first person account is so beautiful and touching
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolument magnifique ! J'ai vu le film en premier, et cela m'a donné envie quand j'ai vu la couverture du livre et que j'ai reconnu l'actrice du film. Très bien lu.
Absolutely marvellous! I saw the movie first and I felt like listening to the audiobook when I saw the book cover and I recognise the actress from the movie. Very well read. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It was a beautiful poignant and believable story of a woman’s fight to remain herself through the ravages of early onset Alzheimer’s
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It is sincere book. I can feel I understand what Alice feel by vivid description and dialect.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It took me inside Alice's thoughts as she managed her diag-nosis.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good story. The narration was very monotone.
But worth listening to. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Moving and very sad. It showed me the Alzheimer's desease in a way that will not be forgotten that easily.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5it is a great audiobook and worth hearing!
it is very touching, especially the end. if you have ever haf somebody with Alzheimer in your family, it is exactly how it all develops and answrrs some qirstions, helps to underatamd what might be going on in their head - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The thing is that the story is beautiful, but they should have used another person to narrate, because the story is emotional while the narration was cold.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved every single part of the book and how educative it was. I got to learn about Alzheimer’s disease
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A touching walk through all stages of early onset Alzheimer's. The author's narration was very pleasant and subtle enough to allow you to focus on the story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Emotionell, beautiful, it was very realistic and heartbreaking. Strongly recommended!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An amazing book, absolutely heart breaking. The narrator's voice is at times a little too shrill for me but perhaps the quiver in her voice lends to the desperation of the content.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved how the writer explains the experiences of an Alzheimer's Patient!
How they start forgetting trivial things.. Then eventually their own loved ones.
Then there comes a phase when the husbands and wives start wondering, what the purpose of their marriage was after all.. Work and supporting each other? Or staying with eachother to help and support eachother?
Alzheimer's is really a shitty disease. At one point Alice points this out the how she never would want to be on her deathbed looking at the faces she doesn't recognize anymore, the faces that are her children and husband! Watching them say goodbye while She doesn't even know they are and why they're crying at all.
Damn. I really am thinking if I'll ever make a good choice if it comes to having a good wife who's gonna be there for me when I need her the most or when I am in a similar disease! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Hard-hitting and unforgettable. Think carefully before you decide to read this it's very depressing
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Couldn’t make it a chapter. The readers voice sounds like a robot. Monotone.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very endearing and well written. Relates to many families. Highly recommended.
