About this audiobook

In the darkness, demons come out to play...

...and someone must bring their sins to light.

Part vampire, part werewolf, Riley Jenson knows what can happen when vamps don't play well with others. But she's never seen anything like this: a series of brutal murders surrounding the latest hot spot for vampire-human hookups-and the victims aren't just killed, they're beheaded. Now Riley is launching into action, toying with a seductive-and highly suspicious-club owner, and finding herself in the middle of another mystery: women being killed one by one without a trace of violence.

For Riley, solving multiple cases-in a world going mad with human and vampire passions-would have been tough enough. Instead, she has two jealous lovers on her hands: Kye Murphy, the amber-eyed werewolf who makes Riley's wolf blood howl-and Quinn, the cool, elegant vamp who has over a thousand years' experience at fulfilling women's desires. While she's busy juggling these two sexy beasts, Riley's detective work takes a stunningly violent turn. Finding a murderer is now a matter of life and death. Especially since the killer has long since found her...

I'll repeat my objection to the last book here. Although the matter is resolved well (at least to me), I still don't buy the whole premise of an individual divided heart and soul. As I said last time, this may just be a difference in how I view the heart and soul versus how the author views them.

I could not finish this audiobook. I’m giving it 4 stars because I love this series. However, the narration volume was all over the place. One moment she was whisper soft and I couldn’t hear what she said at all, the next moment my speakers, as well as my ear drums, are blown. You’re constantly changing the volume and I’ve had a headache since starting it. I’ve listened to this narrator before and it’s not usually like this. But I can’t finish it.

This is one of my favorite books in the series. The situations in this story really pushed Riley to the limit, both mentally and physically. Kye her wolf soul mate is back stirring the pot, Quinn the sweet hunk of a vamp is just wanting love, and there is a force that is killing off important vampires. She has to make some significant sacrifices made in this book. Fantastic !

Before I say anything, I wish to first warn readers that this is the Eight Book in the series so if you have missed any previous books, there will be spoilers for you ahead.

Meanwhile, about this book. So now that Riley has found her wolf soul mate she is even more torn than usual. We also have our usual Directorate cases to through into the mix. Rhoan and Liander have decided they want kids and approach Riley with the idea of using her eggs since she is Rhoan's twin. Kye, her Wolf Soul mate, is stirring up trouble for her cases once again and has her torn heart from soul, being that she wants things to work with Quinn and hating who fate choose as a soul mate.
So there all the drama wrapped up into one. While the case was lacking a bit more than usual the drama between the various characters was well done. Kade is so easy to like, Liander sweet as always, adorable Rissa, etc. The ending is not quite a cliffhanger but definitely left me wanting to read the final book in this series.

This book was just as rough emotionally as I was prepared for by others who had read it. I have tears streaming down my face. On to the last book of the series. :::cries:::

The books in this series just keep getting better and better I think. This book had a sizzle all the way through it for me. At the end there were even tears, I have not had that before in a Riley Jensen story. The mystery was as good as earlier ones with lots of action. Her relationship with Quinn is still great even though she had to contend with her soul mate Kye, who she hates because of who and what he is but the wolf part of her is drawn to.It was just great from start to finish, for me I couldn't put it down until I had finished.

I'm really still distressed that this is all going to come to a close. Specially with how much she talked about her or Rhoan dying in the last couple books. I hope that in the next, and final installment, she's not going to kill off anyone.

Two minute review for "Bound to Shadow" by Keri ArthurRiley is one of my favorite heroine's, fate always throws Riley some wicked curve balls and Riley keeps chucking them back. The family around her are wonderfully supportive characters. The action is fast, interesting and will take you away from your humdrum life. Too Cool. Give me more!

Riley Jenson is part vampire & part werewolf. Her guardian duties having been keeping her busy, trying to solve several cases. If that isn't enough she also has two lovers to deal with. Life is never easy in Riley's world. But this time not finding the killer first could end in deathly consequences.I read the first book in this series Full Moon Rising back in 2006 (which seems forever ago) and was instantly hooked. Riley is a strong, kick ass and likeable heroine. One character I couldn't wait to read more about. Ms. Arthur has created an intriguing world with vampires, werewolves and other creatures that go bump in the night. Every book takes you on an adventure that is non stop action right until the end. Suspenseful, shocking and very sexy. All these facts ring true in the 8th and latest book. I enjoyed it just as much as the previous books. I'd say Bound to Shadows is one of my favorite books in the series. The tone in this one remind me a little bit of the earlier books. The situations in this story really pushed Riley to the limit, both mentally and physically. I was very happy with the out come and can't wait get my hands on book 9. If you haven't read this series yet, I suggest giving it a try

I'm a fan of the paranormal genre, which I do think is a very silly genre. Some of these kinds of books are well written, and some are formulaic and kind of awful. The Riley Jensen books are the latter kind. It follows the formula almost to a T: mystery scene, fight scene, sex scene, wash rinse repeat. So I did enjoy this book somewhat, but wasn't all that impressed. This is an open-world vampire book, and I think the world and politics of this series is interesting, but it isn't ever really detailed. It's also pretty steamy :)

Half-werewolf, half-vampire Riley Jensen’s job as guardian in keeping the peace between humans and supernaturals is never easy. Her latest job involves the mysterious beheadings of vampires near a sleazy bar run by a sex-appeal-oozing vampire. Riley feels that the case is tied to the seemingly inexplicable deaths of several women throughout Melbourne. As she struggles to find the connection and the killers, however, Riley’s love life is shaken by the reappearance of her werewolf soul mate, the hit man Kye. Riley’s wolf side can’t help but be attracted to this heartless man, but her heart really belongs to Quinn, an old vampire.BOUND TO SHADOWS will satisfy fans of this series, be enjoyable for fans of paranormal lit published in mass market paperback format, and most likely be frustrating for those with a wider range of literary interests. This ambitious novel had a lot of flaws that bothered me but would probably go unnoticed by steady readers of this genre.Riley’s world is complex, with supernatural creatures of all kind running together, getting in one another’s way, adding multiple dimensions to the story. Personally I am a vampire girl, but I thought the werewolf aspect of Riley’s nature was well done: it has its own share of unavoidable instincts and desires (most of which involve lust and sex, I’ll tell you up front). You can’t go a chapter without running into something new and exciting, and I appreciated the way that Arthur was able to introduce all these complexities to us without getting us hopelessly tangled. The characters in this book were well drawn, appealing and believable. I particularly liked Kye—but then again, I’ve always had a soft spot for the seemingly hopeless bad ones. If you prefer your lovers to be gentlemanly, you’ll root for Quinn. Riley is, unfortunately, not as likable as her love interests, for I often found her narration, dialogue, and thought process to be a bit stilted. In fact, the writing was what held back my opinion of this book and series. Much of the story seemed a little too staged to be believable: the author was clearly following a set route around the story’s world, with a completely different scene and subplot abruptly following the development of another. In addition, the romance scenes were blunt, and thus unromantic. There is a lot of buildup to the act, and then the actual sex was treated very brusquely, leaving readers detached from Riley at those moments. That being said, Keri Arthur’s ambitious ideas make sure that she doesn’t shy away from the tragedy. BOUND TO SHADOWS ends sadly: I was practically screaming in tears at the book at the end. But I can’t help but being impressed at Arthur’s decisions. Like I said earlier, BOUND TO SHADOWS will definitely make Riley Jensen fans happy. I don’t think I will read this series, but those who love their paranormal worlds complex and sexy will get a kick out of these books.

This is Book 8 in the Riley Jensen Guardian Series. I have mentioned before that I rather enjoy these books. Riley is a dhampir, part werewolf and part vampire. In this story, Riley is having more and more trouble with her Soul Mate, Kye. He is an evil, heartless man. Beyond that the story was trying to get to the next book, so it was not the best in the series. It was still enjoyable though.

This one was good, but...This book was filled with characters that we've seen before. There were only a few new additions. I thought the story was okay; the mystery remained until almost the very end, but I honestly just did not like the way things turned out. One, one of my favorite characters from a previous book, Kye, showed up in this one. I thought that Kye was interesting, and I was looking forward to seeing how his character developed and what happened, if anything, between him and Riley. I don't remember him being a very nice character, but I thought there were more positives to him, that we just hadn't seen yet. Well, she went very dark with him, and I am not sure that was a fair way to go. So, I was disappointed in that respect.I don't feel that she advanced Riley much, either. She spent most of the book anguishing about Kye being her soulmate, and I'm not sure there was any growth in any respect, other than her finally realizing that she really loves Quinn. So, it's not all bad.I'd have to say that as much as I waited for this book, it's probably my least favorite in the series, although I think that the character, and the series, is still good enough to keep following it, and waiting for the next book to come out.Keri Arthur is a very good writer, and I would recommend this one, too, even though I didn't like it quite as much as the others.

Riley's latest case has to do with someone beheading vampires. She has to deal with a club owner who has a powerful sexual aura and someone draining her energy through sexual dreams. She is also helping with the case of the women who are dying young and or no apparent cause. They were known to frequent bars that catered to their need to be bitten by vampires. She is also dealing with the fact that the soulmate she hates is back in town and may be involved in the case. Also, Rhoan and Liander want to use one of her preserved eggs to have a child. Life isn't getting any easier for Riley Jensen!

Riley is half vampire and half werewolf. She has seen a lot of senseless killings bu never anything this sadistic. The party place where vampires and humans meet up to have some fun is now a spot of terror. Someone has thought up their own party. One where the party-goers loose their head, literally. Will Riley be able to track down this killer before too many more lives are lost?I'm a huge paranormal fan. Riley is the type of bad ass chick that I want to be in some parallel universe. This is a bloody good book!

This is the 8th book in the Riley Genson Gardian Novels. I have been waiting for this book for months. It was well worth the wait. It was everything I have been waiting for and MORE. We finally get to see what comes out of Riley and Kye's relationship and what it will become of Riley and Quinn for that matter. The story line was great, and there was so much more than I ever expected. Not to mention the ending was just WOW. Now I will be waiting AGAIN for months till the 9th book is released. GREAT READ!!!!!!!!
