I love the relationship between Jill and Saul. It's solid, functional, and realistic, not to mention sexy. They make a solid pair. Lovers of urban fantasy, paranormal, supernatural reads will enjoy this series.

Synopsis: Jill hasn't had any down time since spring - in fact, it seems that murder and mayhem are on the increase. Now the police are finding eviscerated bodies of young prostitutes; whatever is attacking them isn't human and doesn't fit into any of the known non-human categories. As usual, Jill thinks Percy knows what's going on but can't pin down his involvement. What she does know is that the priest is keeping secrets from her, and the Sorrow who killed her teacher is back in town.Review: Another page turner from Saintcrow. Lots of blood and violence, but also a look at the need for someone to rely on and also how introspection is a two-edged sword.

Ok, here goes round two for the Jill Kismet series and I must say I was impressed. For the most part I am getting a handle on how Saintcrow's world works. Some writers prefer their readers to work through the pieces they give them, leaving it up to the readers to form a full picture. I haven't read an author with this writing style in a while, but Saintcrow certainly has a way with words, an intense bunch of characters and plot twists.I really really want to know why Jill made a deal with Perry though. It seems taboo for a hunter to do so, did Mikhail know she wouldn't be able to handle the nightside with out it? Did he know he was going to die?My questions aside, this was a hell of a ride! I devoured this book when the first one took me a little while to sink into. We see another side to Kismet's psyche and she isn't as badass as she was in the first book. Well let me rephrase that, she was badass but not as unbreakable. I had fears that she would turn into an unstoppable force since she healed so damn fast in the first book, but Saintcrow added a healthy amount of balance this time around. I am eager to continue reading this series.

Jill Kismet is chasing a killer who is eviscerating bodies, leaving only scant evidence but it's nasty supernatural stuff and she fears what's going to happy. Beside her she has the shapeshifter Saul and Perry the demon has his plans for her too, she owes him and he's going to make sure she pays.I liked it, there were moments when I really wanted her to stop and think a bit harder and trust some people, but the author has established that she's not a trusting person. Still it's an interesting series that I'm curious to continue.

I would give a 3.5 stars. I enjoyed it, but not as much as the first novel. I am very interested to see what is going on with Perry. I like seeing Saul show serious interest in Jill. There were some very difficult scenes for Jill in this book. It is great to see that Saul is ready to take their relationship to that very serious step.

Another solid entry - Hunter's Prayer expands on the backstory in interesting ways while building a compelling arc in itself. Jill's relationships are some of the more interesting parts of the series - with the various cops, Weres, supernatural types, enemies, her dead teacher, and, not least but not greatest, her boyfriend. The neat little logic twist at the end that gets her out of some but not all of the obligation to the mysterious Perry is something of a relief - those scenes could have gotten desperately repetitive - but it just adds another layer to their interactions.

No 2 in the Hunter series, just as good as the first. With the introduction of Saul Dustcircle, werecougar and her lover/backup, Jill is kicking ass in the demon population in her city until a new player arrives in town, with her own deadly secret. Awesome 2nd book in a great series.

I liked the first book in this series, but recently romance has become an important part of an urban fantasy book for me so I have mixed feelings about this book. It starts off something like 3 to 5 years later (after where it left off in the first) but what I have the most problems with is that the whole stinky murderous beast thing seemed to drag on for me. It was alright but I don't think I'll continue with the series.

Disemboweled corpses of pregnant hookers start turning up in random parts of her city, along with a stinking, deadly beast. The Sorrow that killed her teacher has put in an appearance, as well. With the demon scar on her wrist a sullenly scorching temptation, and the demon that gave it to her claiming his time, Jill Kismet is having a very bad year.Repetitive descriptions, not much movement, lots of readily healed damage... I wasn't terribly impressed with the first volume in this series, and the second was not a big improvement.

Jill is never done protecting her territory and is once more dragged in a great thriller when pregnant prostitutes start showing up dead randomly with all their organs and eyes taken out: not for delicate stomach. Jill isn't alone anymore though and she thanks god everyday for it. Saul Dustcircle came back to her and they built a relationship as stable as it can get when you are a hunter. Kismet, Saul and Perry are knee deep in a very complicated series of events and try to sort it all out, not without loosing some feathers in the process.Another great novel by Lilith Saintcrow: Jill is more and more interesting. She's facing her hunted past more then once in that novel and grow as a character. Near-death experience rains in a story full of action and Treason. We are left wondering what the heck it is with Perry and his weird games, we want to know what he is! Hopefully we will find out in the third book of the series.

Still solid, although not *quite* as good as the first one. The third one will show me if Saintcrow is really just not meant for series...(that's as far as I could get with Dante. Well, almost as far, I couldn't finish the third Dante Valentine novel)

In the second book of the Jill Kismet series we see her continuing to fight against her debt to Pericles and learning to live with Saul Dustcircle whom we met in the first book. Meanwhile Prostitutes are showing up dead and eviscerated, and it's Jill's job to find out why and make it stop.

Superb, much stronger to my mind than the first Kismet book. Very excited to see what comes next.

This book follows on quite a while after the first in the series, but it's clearly connected. Jill and Saul are a reasonably settled, happy couple (there's quite a lot of anger and explosions in the relationship, but what would you expect given the people in it?). Things with Perry are moving along, and Santa Luz has wildly busy, and dangerous nightside for almost a year. There's a gruesome, and unusual, killer - but this time it's clearly not a rogue were from day one. It takes a lot of time to find out what it is, but we quite quickly learn just how dangerous it is - especially when Perry turns up to protect Jill from it.There are levels of intrigue going on - in part because they move the story in interesting ways I'm sure, but in part because the characters largely act plausibly according to their own agenda and because it's told from a first person perspective we get the same clues, or lack thereof as Jill to try and understand them which makes it work well as a struggle to work out what's happening. In reviewing the first book I complained a little about how the fight scenes were written. I would say these are somewhat better, but there's still room for improvement. I would also say that because there is so much more going on around the story that isn't directly fight scene related it's still a weakness but it still isn't critical.

If you like your paranormal thrillers on the gritty side, with a protagonist kind of hard to like (but you can't seem to help yourself), these books are absolute musts. In this series, Jill Kismet is the Hunter, policing the paranormal denizens of Santa Luz. This "episode" sees Jill and her were-cougar lover, Saul, hunting for the creature brutally murdering underage, pregnant hookers. The problem is much bigger, of course - it's not "simply" a case of a rampaging nightside denizen killing hookers, it's a much more catastrophic, personally hazardous plot involving Jill herself as the guest of honor. Really hard to put down! I loved it.
