About this audiobook

He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too. When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister’s journal, she is stunned by Alina’s desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister’s killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.

Mac’s quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences....

Mac - bless her cotton socks - is trying her hardest to prove to everyone that she is not this Southern Belle anymore and she is definitely getting there. Even in a chaotic way.

As her journey progresses in each book the story just gets more and more interesting. It's made all the more fun by anticipating what dilemma Mac is going to get herself into next. There are moments where the story repeats itself with information from the previous books to catch readers up and it could be cut short a bit. I was expecting more development with Barrons in this one but he seemed to be put on the back burner, it was more focused on Mac finding out the roles of other characters and the part they play in this game she's trapped in. All the characters are extremely interesting and bring something different to the story. Making Mac's quest that much harder.

Faefever ends on a cliffhanger and I am craving answers.

Okay, so my love for this series has not diminished. It's actually gotten borderline obsessive. I'm starting to worry about what the heck I'm going to do with myself once I finish. haha!I have become so completely wrapped up in this 'world' that it's all I can think about half the time!

Expect a doozy of an ending and an immediate desire to scoop up book four (which is what I'm doing ... right now.) :)

SPOILER FREE - HAPPY HAPPY, JOY JOY REVIEW!The first book was good. The second book was great. This third book was holyeffinbatmanfreakinamazing!! Sooooo, if my calculations are correct (and if you don't take into account that I'm terrible at math), I'm guessing that just touching the next book in the series should result in a violent, arms-flailing, dance-inspiring joygasm!!!I have Dreamfever around here somewhere, let's test out my theory.  jwjueu^{*]!jiekebg sk^{wgsfs^{+ssgs bdjeue%]*^shbsu bsuygd%*ihdhjdb^*]%%uhebh enehe^]*]%usby egy^]^%beyg!!!! Sorry, my mind wasn't able to comprehend real words there for a second..... What were we talking about? Oh yeah, Faefever.First off, let me say - Best first four words of a book ever! I'd die for him. Those four words sent my mind reeling. I really thought I knew exactly what she meant and I thought for sure I knew what it meant, and is that really what it is? And then no, it really is something soooo completely different and you don't find out til much later and what the HELL????I know, I know. Just add a few "like"s or "and um"s in there and I would have sounded like Miley Cyrus. So, it got off to a great start, but KMM's answers are just never simple, are they?Barrons just oozes sensuality. I expect if I ever came across such a man, I would act similarly to the way Mac did initially around V'lane. But I wouldn't be quite so restrained.See, Barrons represents everything we women have been trying to train out of men for the past hundred years. The restless masculinity, randomly throwing women against a wall, expecting a woman to do as you say just because you asked her to, stalking, interrogating. But I don't care because he is effing hot.I hate KMM! I hate her for making me love someone I should hate. I hate her for not giving me exactly what I want. I hate her for ending her books the way she does and for giving me goosebumps at said ending. The way I hate her for all these things that I love so much reminded of the movie "Ten Things I Hate About You". So I have composed a horrifically cheesetastic poem about Barrons and Mac inspired by (okay directly ripped off from) the poem in the film.I hate the way Barrons talks to Mac, and the fact that he's HOT with long hair.I hate that he let's her drive his car, and I really hate his brooding stare.I hate that he never ever laughs and the way he reads her mind.I hate how the Sinsar Duhb makes her sick, and how it makes her lose time.I hate the way he won't give her insight and I hate that's he's one big lie.I hate the way he only calls her Mac when he thinks she gonna die.I hate it when he's not around and that he doesn't answer to her call. But most of all I hate the way that I can't possibly hate him, not even a little bit, not even at all.

In book 3 of the Fever series, a number of people/fae/critters are trying to find the “Sinsar Dubh”, the ancient book that both Seelie and Unseelie fae, and seemingly everyone else who knows about it want to get their hands on, for various reasons. Mac, being someone who can sense the book, is trying to expand the number of “people” she has to help her out and back her up. She still doesn't know who, if anyone, she can really trust. In the midst of all this, Mac discovers that there is a deadline, or something big and deadly will happen. Another really good book in this series. Got even better in the last few pages, but then ended on a cliffhanger.

This book disappointed me, on most levels really. The pacing was off, the writing was off, the characters were off... it just sort of lacked the polish/sophistication it needed. Do you know what I mean? When you read a book, and every single word adds something, has spark- artfulness. That's what the book lacked. It was sometimes messy and sometimes boring and sometimes irritating. There was some good stuff in there, but nothing with the right amount of excitement or creativity or gravity. I think the things that came closest to delivering this were the cake moment & the MacHalo (this will make sense after you read the book), which is a shame because they were such small scenes. It was really a step down from the last one.

And Barrons? I just don't get it. I've read a lot of admiration & fangirling, but to me he comes off a little like Christian Grey from Fifty Shades of Grey, which is NOT a compliment. Not quite as bad, to be honest. There are a few great scenes between he and Mac, such as the escape from the LM in Bloodfever, and the times where Mac really stands up for herself and bites back.
But Barrons does not seem remotely sexy to me- he's almost abusive. And hey, I can get into some of the traits that Barrons possesses- Curran from the Kate Daniels series pulls off the alpha male thing well, Dimitri from Vampire Academy pulls off the older-guy-mentor thing well, Trent from the Hollows series pulls off the mysterious shades-of-grey-is-he-or-isn't-he-evil thing REALLY well. But Barrons seems inferior to me when compared to these heroes/romantic interests. Perhaps the rest of the series will change my mind? After all, the books haven't really been romances so far, so maybe I'll see a different side of Barrons later. But for now, really see nothing special there.

DO NOT READ THE NEXT PART UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED THE BOOK.
So that ending made me really uncomfortable and angry. Not that I think rape scenes, or even that kind of rape scene, should be banished from books. Although they never leave me very happy, they can really add something to a story. But something about it, something that I can't quite articulate, bothered me. Maybe its place right at the end? Maybe a lack of gravity? The rape-plus-brainwashing combo? Maybe it just wasn't good writing, stylistically? Anyways, I did know that something like that was going to happen eventually, because I read a hint of it before I even picked up the first book in the series. Maybe because I thought it would be V'Lane, and the reality was inferior to how I'd thought it would go? But it just felt wrong to me. The author could have done a better job of it. I'm hoping the next book may change my mind about this somehow.

Anyways, here's hoping the next book will be an improvement, as Bloodfever was an improvement over Darkfever for me.

I think I read this one before but this was a re-read. I didn't remember things but my few cents are as follows. Barrons is getting more and more on my nerves. I get he's not human and I get he's super bad ass...but I don't get is why the author feels the need to reenforce those facts every five minutes. Also Mac does a lot better at the whining in this one. I am still intrigued by V'Lane he has been way more constant than Barrons as a love interest/anti-hero.

This book ended with a disturbing bang. We shall see what the next book holds (which I have not read before).

Mac finally accepts her reality and takes matters into her own hands in this one. Glad to finally see her stop being so immature and ditzy. We definitely learn a lot more in this one but I can't figure out Barrons and it's driving me nuts. I can't tell whose side he's on or what his deal is. I also thought after the last book the romance would heat up, but nothing!! Ahh...and the ending!

Narration: The first hour was difficult to listen to due to the poor audio quality - there seemed to be some weird echo. Thankfully this eventually stopped (or maybe I got used to it).

Unfortunately, my dislike of Mac has not abated and her vapid outlook on life is getting on my last nerve. She constantly rambles on inanely about every idiotic thought that runs through her head. As a result, the story drags on and on and the important developments are nearly lost is her incessant chatter.

There is too much repetition of events from previous books and the lead up to the Halloween showdown is too drawn out. Finally, the ending seriously pisses me off - not because I particularly care about what happens to Mac but because rape in any shape or form is simply an unacceptable plot device. The fact that Mac apparently enjoys what happens to her just adds insult to injury.

The interaction between V'lane and Mac also bothers me no end. While I understand V'lane's behavior within the context of his characterization as a sex fae and I have no problem with his actions or motivation, Mac's constant sexual responses with no basis in emotion (as involuntary as they may be) are irritating. For me, sex is connected to emotion and every time she has a spontaneous orgasm, it makes my skin crawl.

There are, nevertheless, one or two saving graces. The fae apocalypse plot is compelling and the links to Moning's Highlander series make me smile. Moreover, the mystery surrounding Barrons' identity is absorbing. and I desperately want to know who he is. For these reasons, as well as the fact that I want to listen to Dreamfever so I can hear Phil Gigante's voice and understand what everyone is raving about, mean that I will continue with the series.

My second reading of this book proved just as good as the first time, if not better. Mac continues to grow as a character. I love the addition of the fellow Sidhe-seers, and Christian into the mix. We've still got a healthy dose of V'Lane and my personal favorite...Barrons. I found myself eagerly devouring the trials and tribulations Mac went through already knowing that next up is my favorite book of the series so far. The ending of this book is definitely a cliff hanger, so readers beware. The worst has happened and you're left salivating for the sequel.

Dark/light the the fight continues. Fae ugly and beautiful, sexual to extremes, are coming out of Fairy. Barons is more of a mystery, evil or not ? He confuses Mac more, and she wants him, tension builds. Mac meets up with her "kind" and is disipointed. A sexy Scotsman enters to story and complicates it. The walls come down, darkness falls through the city, death. Mac is alone, no V'lane, Baron only darkness, and she is scared and taken.
I felt like I was driving 70 mph and hit a brick wall the way this book ended. Everything bad was happening then "crash" the next page was blank !!!! All her books do this but this one was the worst. I have to wait for the next release to release my breath.

Intense and engrossing read; well written so not worthy of rating a 1 for "didn't like it." But particularly unsatisfying entry in series. Frustrating. Relentlessly dark and both protagonist and reader get no answers. A bit more into some of the mysterious good and evil forces both but still no answers. Pretty much all a dark morass of confusion. *sigh* still hooked so will read the next one; but, really glad I did not purchase. More setting up or foreshadowing the rest of series and I have a feeling next volume will catch a reader up nicely if this one not read. Not sure why other reviewers say Mac showed real growth; I saw backsliding into self-involvement and the not endearing "not my fault" attitude. Don't even get me started on the ending.

So this book has plenty of twists and turns and a lot of frustration. Not only do cataclysmic things happen with a muted type of involvement but there was still no romance really budding between Barrons and Mac. Actually by the end of this book I think I am ready to write off Vlane and Barrons because they both seem to be traitors of the worst kind and users. It's like the Eurythmics song. At any rate. So Mac not only gets attacked by her own but commits murder lets someone else eat Unseelie keeps secrets bargains with the devil makes progress on finding the one thing her sister asked of her before being murdered doesn't make progress really on getting vengeance drives Barrons further away and vice versa and makes a monumental cliffhanging mistake. For the life of me I can't actually believe all that happened in this very short book. Not only was it all packed into a small frame but it happened back to back and by the time I actually had got my mind to stop reeling it was on to the next event. I must say that the witty girl Mac who started this book almost didn't seem to be visible in this one at all as that version anyway. Still because I have invested my time for reading these I will continue and hope to not have to wait an eternity for the last one.

AMAZING! Totally worth the 5 star rating. What was that ending?! I'm almost half way through Dreamfever because I just couldn't wait to find out what would happen to Mac and everybody next. Great story telling, great plot, great sexual tension between Mac and Barrons. I started really liking Barron when I read Bloodfever, but after I ended this one I'm right with Dani: I want to give my virginity to him. Or just throw him in bed, since the virginity thing isn't quite possible anymore. ^^

Aaaanyway, if you think that this series isn't worth your time, hold that thought right there! The first book may have been a little slow going, but things definitely picks up by the second book and become virtually unstoppable by the third. A tip: if you begin to read this one, make sure you already have the next to in hand. You just won't be able to wait for them. :)
