About this audiobook

He watches her from across the crowded dance club, a sensual black-haired stranger who stirs Gabrielle Maxwell's deepest fantasies. But nothing about this night-or this man-is what it seems. For when Gabrielle witnesses a murder outside the club, reality shifts into something dark and deadly. In that shattering instant she is thrust into a realm she never knew existed-a realm where vampires stalk the shadows and a blood war is set to ignite.

Lucan Thorne despises the violence carried out by his lawless brethren. A vampire himself, Lucan is a Breed warrior, sworn to protect his kind-and the unwitting humans existing alongside them-from the mounting threat of the Rogues. Lucan cannot risk binding himself to a mortal woman, but when Gabrielle is targeted by his enemies, he has no choice but to bring her into the dark underworld he commands.

Here, in the arms of the Breed's formidable leader, Gabrielle will confront an extraordinary destiny of danger, seduction, and the darkest pleasures of all.

I can definitely see the parallels to J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Here we have a vampire society protected by an elite group of warriors who fight against the vampires that have given in to the "dark side" and become slaves to their blood thirst (the Rogues). They are wedded to their jobs as essentially killers, so of course they absolutely, positively, will never, ever, allow themselves to get involved with or care about a woman, because that would get in the way of their noble mission. So, of course, the novels chronicle the various warriors' futile struggles against destiny and true love. This first one focuses on the group's leader, Lucan Thorne, who is quite a prickly character (ha, ha, ha!). There are some differences here, though, and some new takes (or at least new to me) on the whole vampire mythology. First, in Adrian's world, vampires are aliens. Yes, you heard me, aliens. I still haven't decided exactly how I feel about that part, but at least it's original. I mean, is it any less believable that some of the other explanations? The first of them crash-landed on earth and were responsible for wiping out entire civilizations (ever wonder what happened to Atlantis?). They came to realize that they could mate with human females (because all of the vampires in this world are male), but only certain, extra special ones with a certain birthmark. Lucan is among the first generation of such a union, and with other warriors he was responsible for reigning in the chaos and figuring out how to co-exist with humans without slaughtering them. The special females are called Breedmates and usually have some sort of special, extraordinary ability. They don't get turned into vampires, but they share blood with their mates, and that keeps them young and virtually immortal (unless, of course, their mate dies and they don't re-mate, which means that they then would age normally), yet fully human. (Yay, they can still eat chocolate!) There is, however, apparently an equivalent to divorce in their society (you'll see what I mean when you read this book). There was an awful lot of growling and grunting throughout this book. One thing Adrian does emphasize is the animalistic nature of the vampires. They are not sparkly. They are not gentle. They are, underneath it all, killers, whether that killing is for the greater good (the warriors) or just for kicks and to slake their thirst (the Rogues). There is a very thin line between the good guys and the bad guys here, and sometimes those lines blur. To me, that's a little more realistic. I definitely plan to read the rest of the novels in this series because it was just different enough to spark my interest.

Kiss of Midnight was an easy enjoyable read however there seem to be quite a few series that run along the same 'warrior that finds, fights for and finally is bonded to his mate' theme. It reminded me of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Darkhunter series and J.R. Ward's BlackDagger Brotherhhood series. They are all slightly different in there own way but they all share similar qualities: alpha male vampire-like warriors with a cause to fight for who meet lonely women, an obstacle to overcome which threaten's the lives of the warriors and the women, obstacle is dealt with, couples realise they will love each other forever and sometimes form a life long bond. This can become mundane after a dozen or so of these books so I think I'm going to swear off them for a while.

Felt like I was reading the story backwards. Lust was instantaneous and they had sex before they knew anything about each other. Then their fears and vulnerabilities were presented. So for me the beginning was a little off putting. While Gabrielle was sleeping and unaware Lucan gives her oral. This was there first meeting and no consent was given, I didn't find that sexy. Despite the cliches and the similarity to J.R. Ward's books, it was an enjoyable read with hints of future greatness. Hoping future books in the series are better.

I have to say that reading this book a second time was just a thrilling as the first time. This is a new idea on the vampire legend. These vampires came here as aliens in the very distant past. There were eight originally. These original eight were cruel, savage and bent on destroying all of mankind, which was more than a little stupid since the need humans to survive. This first story is about the leader of the warrior Order that keeps all vampires and humans safe from the Rogue element. The Rogues are those males that have become addicted to taking blood and killing. The leader of the Order is Lucan Thorne and he is a Gen One vampire. He has been around for hundreds of years. He has given everything that he has to keep his race safe. He has hunted and fought day in and day out. He is loyal and strong. He is commanding and honorable. He is also totally unprepared for Gabrielle Maxwell. Gabrielle is all he has ever wanted and thought he couldn't have.Gabrielle has been lonely and afraid for most of her life. She has felt that doesn't belong in the society that she lives in. She was brought up in the foster care system which is sad at the best of times. Her mother was killed by a Rogue when she was a baby but she doesn't know that until well into the book. Gabrielle has a gift for finding and photographing Rogue and vampire hideouts. She is drawn to these locations for reasons that she has never understood. Gabrielle is loyal, loving, compassionate and tender. When she meets Lucan she falls for him hard. He shows her that passion can be more than either of them has ever possible. Lucan fights this with all his might but he can't get past how Gabrielle draws him to her.I loved this book the first time I read and I love it just as much this time. There are some every sad parts, such as the loss of one of the warriors and the severe wounding of another one. There is also betrayal for a trust family member. Ms. Adrian has put together a well thought out world with every interesting characters and locations. She makes you care for the people you are reading about. She makes you see the desolation of what the Rogue wrought. She brings you into the world of the warriors and the danger they face every day. I look forward reading the rest of this series.

I love Paranormal Romance but I’m not a big fan of the vamp angle- which is strange because Vamps are some of my all time fav characters in TV and movies! Because of this, I’m late to the game on this one.Gabrielle Maxwell makes a good living selling her photos as art, one night after a gallery opening, she decides to join her friends for a night out on the town. She quickly realizes she’s not into the dark Goth scene at the downtown club they’ve ventured into and promptly makes her goodbyes. Things turn ugly however when she unwittingly falls upon a bizarre murder and barely escapes with her life. When she reports the crime to the cops they thinks she’s crazy- even with the proof she has on her camera phone- although the photos were grainy at best.Afraid she’s becoming as insane as her birthmother, she eventually leaves the police station frustrated and confused, sure the cops will not follow up on her wild claims.Imagine her surprise when a cop shows up days later claiming he’s there to investigate. She has no reason to doubt him and willingly gives her phone over to the darkly handsome detective.Lucan Thorne is not a who he seems, however. He’s a Breed- a descendant of a group of aliens who landed on earth an age ago and wreaked havoc destroying the people who populated it by feeding on their blood. Long ago, after witnessing his father tear apart his mother in a surge of bloodlust, Lucan took it upon himself to reign in the unruly bunch descended from original bloodsuckers. It has been war ever since… and it’s about to get nasty as a mysterious leader of the Rogues- Breeds given over to bloodlust- has surfaced and wants nothing more than to bring down the group of warrior Breeds who have given their lives to keep the Rogues in check. In a strange twist, Gabrielle and her artwork are smack in the middle of the mess and Lucan finds himself oddly drawn to the beautiful artist. When he discovers she's a Breedmate, one of a handful of human women born to mate with the Breeds, he wants nothing more than to run from her- for her own good- but circumstances align to keep them together. Will Gabrielle be willing to run to Lucan for safety if she knows what he truly is? Or will he go against his better judgment and reveal all to keep her by his side when he knows in his heart he is nothing but bad news for the unsuspecting woman. As bizarre as the whole Aliens as Vampires thing sounds, it surprisingly works in Adrian’s Midnight Breeds series. The characters are enticing with strong competent women and hot alpha men who sizzle with chemistry. She’s done an excellent job of world building here and the plot-although a tad done before with all the tortured heroes destined for one woman who will become their salvation- is well defined with a hook that will keep you coming back for more! (I'm really looking forward to reading some of the other warrior's stories!)Although I liked this one, I wasn't as enthused about it as some of the other PNR's out there right now, but I'm chocking that up to it being the the first in the series ... 4 out of 5 from me.

Excited to get lost in another series. This book parallels the first book in BDB, but I kind of already knew that coming in, so it didn't bother me much.

Great hero & heroine, good romance throughout, intrigue and mystery, action, and hot guys (VAMPS!). Really, how can you go wrong?

For me the first 50% of this book was very slow and rather, dare I say it, boring. It just didn't gel with me. After the 50% mark things started to happen quicker and I found myself getting really into it. Therefore, I'll give it the three and a half stars.

Let me preface by stating that this is the first time that I have read one of author Lara Adrian's books. She has a definite talent to draw you into this book. The plot involves a raging war set in modern day surroundings. Lucan Thorne and his friends, Gideon, Colan, Dante, Rio, Nikolai and Tegan are battling in this war while being supported by their mates Danika, Savannah and Eva. Best friends, Jamie, Kendra and Megan celebrate the successes of photographer Gabrielle Maxwell. Gabrielle's best work are pictures taken in some of the seediest parts of Boston. The "Master" admires her work and is very interested in meeting her.BEST PART: I found myself constantly chasing after the big mystery. Great writing on the part of the author. The heated passion was expressed with taste. It was enough to allow your individual imagination to flow without being sleazy. LEAST FAVORITE PART: Some authors use too much foul language (overdone and overcooked, overused and over the top). Not the case in this book. I was tempted however, to take a magic marker and blacken out the words, "God, Jesus, Christ" (overcooked, overdone, overused and over the top). Apart from that, there is nothing that I would change about the way this book was written. RECOMMENDATION: If you like passion, undefined love, a natural "gift" undiscovered, deception and chasing after the unknown, you will like this book. Author, Lara Adrian very nicely left us with a cliff hanger and I am dying to see what happens in KISS OF CRIMSON, the next book in the series.

I really liked this book: both the action-oriented parts and the romance plot-line are well developped (it sure packs some hot&sexy scenes) and, in the end, there's quite a shocking turn of events...I didn't see that coming at all!
That said, it's just me or the story-line is similar to the one in the BDB series?! Since I only read half of the first book (Dark Lover) more than a year ago I could be wrong but now I'm really itching to pick it up again!

BTW I'm particularly looking forward to Tegan' story: he definitely caught my attention with his dark past and his I-don't-care-about-anything/anyone attitude...!

i strikingly similar re-tread of the first "black dagger brotherhood" book, minus the bizarre spelling. a human woman "who never quite fit in with her life" is swept into a clan of bad-ass vampire warrior buddies sworn to rid the world of the evil vampires. she is, of course, destined to be the life mate of the head bad-ass, necessitating she give up everything to be his one & only (in these sorts of books a woman's life isn't all that interesting until she finds her Destined Big Man). nothing great, nothing horrible, but then again i didn't care for the first BDB book as much as the rest of the series either.

It's obvious that Adrian has read Ward's Black Dagger series - the tone of this book is very similar (though the BDB books are MUCH better). The sex scenes here are a bit more coarse, and much shorter than Ward's and there is no sexual tension buildup (ie he sees her, he wants her, he has her... no interference; in the BDB there is always some barrier he must overcome at the point between wanting and having her.) I suppose this is okay if you like instant gratification, but... sometimes a little bit of tension makes it much more interesting to hear about his throbbingness. It is better written than Feehan's series, and the porn in it is decent. But the story itself... blah... it's just a poor imitation of Ward's work. Go read any of Ward's stuff, or Jeanine Frost's... better plot, better sex.

Book 1 ..... A very different take on the whole vampire craze. I was surprised because I didn't know what to expect. This is a set up for the series, so it did have a lot of descriptives about other people, not just our main characters, but I enjoyed it very much and hope to get to the next one (Kiss of Crimson) very soon

Summary from Goodreads:"He watches her from across the crowded dance club, a sensual black-haired stranger who stirs Gabrielle Maxwell’s deepest fantasies. In that shattering instant she is thrust into a realm she never knew existed—a realm where vampires stalk the shadows and a blood war is set to ignite."My Thoughts:Kiss of Midnight was a fun paranormal romance and I will absolutely be coming back for more! What I liked about this book was how dark and moody it was. Gabrielle wasn't your cookie cutter damsel in distress...instead she was a well-fleshed out main character that was dealing with her own issues and past. Lucan enters her life and her entire world is basically turned upside down. The relationship that develops between the two of them is filled with heat and passion almost instantaneously. I loved the constant tension that there was between them (it was HOT!) I found the storyline to be quite engrossing as well and I am anxious to read the 2nd book to see what happens next. This book left a lot open and I'm guessing that we will continue to learn more in each book of the series. So hopefully all of my unanswered questions will be answered :)All in all, this was a solid beginning to this paranormal romance series! It was exactly what I was in the mood for at the time while I was reading it, and I couldn't ask for more. I will admit to having a few quibbles here and there but overall I really liked it. I enjoyed the ride that the author took me on, and found myself eager to continue on with the series. All good things which means I would recommend this one!Bottom Line: A steamy paranormal romance and most certainly worth reading!Disclosure: Checked out from my local library...I want to say that I picked up this book based off of Christine from The Happily Ever After...'s recommendation or reviews of this series. I'm sure glad that I did!

Not as original as a lot of the paranormals I usually read (i.e. Black Dagger Brotherhood, Immortals After Dark, Psy Changelings) but still a good story. I had a lot of deja vu moments when reading this - it definitely had plot lines, attributes, etc that reminded me of the above series as well as the Paladins series. Still it was an enjoyable read and I'll pick up the second one. I realize with paranormal its difficult in the first book to balance the introduction of a new world as well as a solid plot line and character development.

The story starts with a savage attack on a young woman by a vampire, she being saved, along with her baby and continues twenty-seven years later with that baby. Gabrielle's mother was sent to an insane insylum because of her claim of a vampire attack and Gabrielle was raised in several foster homes. She's a bit of a loner, a photographer who likes photographing buildings, who only has a few friends and who likes her solitude. When friends bring her to a new club and she witnesses a murder, a quite vampiric style murder, when she tries to get the police involved they have a problem, no bodies! She starts to doubt her sanity until she finds that vampires are real, then she finds herself attracted to one of them, Lucan. This is a romance and while the dots are indeed joined the path is quite interesting and the two of them coming to terms with the obstacles is also well done. This story has vampires as long-lived aliens with mood-ring style tattoos, an interesting twist.

Nice creepy beginning, this author seems to have style because I could totally mentally see the scene I was reading.
Interesting back story to how the Breeds were started, alien heritage. At least going about the story of vampires intelligently.
Holy mother of God the first sex scene was hot! Whew, do not read in public people. Jesus talk about starting the new year off right!
Kind of crazy when Gabrielle sees Lucan feeding for the first time. She seems to be running around in a frightened state for a long time. The story is starting to lose some of it's tenseness because of Gabrielle always being in these situations, give me something new author.
Don't know how I feel about the term breedmate (women with a certain birthmark who are compatible with the breeds aka vampires and can produce offspring but only male offspring ), it doesn't sound very complimentary to the women.
I thought it seemed out of place how soon Gabrielle has booty with Lucan again after finding out about him being a vampire and then sitting with him as he battled his bloodlust. She sure seemed freaked out and felt very betrayed after he lied to her so much but then climbs into bed with him without really hashing out anything? Let's make it more of a story authors and add conversations instead of solving everything in the sack.
The identity of the betrayer was a shocker but only in the fact that they weren't given much story to begin with so without knowing them it was really hard to suspect them. So it was a surprise but one I didn't relish.
This book was pretty good, not a long convoluted story line that was hard to follow, easy to follow lore of how the vampires came about, and detailed visionary writing.
Nice little lead of making Lucan's brother Marek turn out to still be alive so we have that connecting thread for the next book in the series and something to look forward to. I like how the warriors were introduced, some story on them all but they didn't distract or interrupt Lucan's story. I'm personally looking forward to Tegan's story, can you say badass mofo!
I think this book and so far this series would good be for people who are leery of paranormal/vampire books. Not what I would really consider a romance but there are some hot sweaty booty scenes. Definitely worth your time if you are looking for something new and different to read.

Read as an 8 book "bundle" and I don't know that I would have continued with the series if I hadn't already had them. For a few reasons:

I never had a good idea of the physicality of the characters, other than that the men were tall and brawny. This made it difficult to visualize things.

The relationships were so unbelievably easy. After the initial "no! you can't be a vampire", "yes, darling, I am" everything appears to be smooth sailing. Also, all the women in the subsequent books get along with no problems at all. Really?

Using the plot device of the bad guy killing an entire enclave of people all at once, more than once, just seemed lazy. There's got to be a better way to make a character need vengeance than to wipe out twenty people all at once.

I have never been one to read fantasy type books with ghosts, wizards, vampires, etc. I was hesitant with picking up Kiss of Midnight. I have also never read anything written by Lara Adrian, but I decided to go for it. I’m so glad I did. I really enjoyed the book. Kiss of Midnight is the first in the Midnight Breed Series. I finished the book in less than a day, it was so fast-paced. It is one of those books that would keep you up all night if you started it before bed.Alright, lets face it. This book is about Vampires. There is going to be blood and gore. The level of blood and gore wasn’t to bad (in my opinion), but I’m sure some readers will think different. Everyone has there own tolerance levels. Now on to the best part of the book. The sex scenes. I will give Lara credit. She knows how to write a good love scene. The details where very vivid. It was almost like you were watching a movie, because you could picture the scene in your head.Kiss of Midnight is a great start to the series. The next book is Kiss of Crimson. I’m going to start it tonight.

Getting into this book took some time, but I ended up really enjoying the world and characters that Adrian created. It was, I admit, predictable, and I would have liked a slower progression in the relationship at the center of the book, as well as a little less melodrama, but it was an easy read and a fun escape. I'll probably at least read the next book in the series and see how it goes. I'm not sure this stands up to the other series in this genre that I've come to really love, but I imagine most paranormal romance readers will enjoy it for what it is.

Gabrielle has always felt disconnected from the world around her, exploring it through the lens of her camera. Lucan is the centuries old leader of the vampire breed, sworn to destroy the madness of the rouges who kill indiscriminately. When Gabrielle is witness to a rouge killing Lucan seeks her out only to discover that she is a breedmate, a rare human with a genetic ability to bear the young of the all male vampire race. Determined to protect her but not claim her as his own Lucan's greatest fight is the one he fights within himself. This book is well written and engrossing, with one problem...the very familiarity of it all. This is a story which seems to take parts from Feehan, Kenyon and Ward, blending them all together to come up with something that winds up being just shy of redundant. Even the names of the Breed warriors all seem very familiar from a dozen different stories like this one (except for Ward's BDB names which, for all that some think they're corny, are at the very least quite unique). One other thing that kind of bugged me is the very thin line between a Breed and a Rogue since neither bunch of vamps showed any real compassion towards us humans. However, the story did hold my attention with fast action, steamy love scenes and sympathetic characters and I think if I had read this before reading so many others, I would have truly loved this first entry into the series and would have been interested in continuing on. I'd certainly recommend this to those who enjoy these kind of books and don't mind reading the similar story lines or someone who hasn't yet experienced the vampire/paranormal romance genre and has an interest.

I was looking for a new series....and I do believe I have found it. Lara has done a terrific job at creating a group of characters that you can relate to and learn to adore. She has an interesting take on her version of Vampires and I found that although there are some certain aspects that I did not like (such as the traditional elongating of the face and the brute necessity of horror when they feed and even kill), these characters are truly love-able and her story believable. The steamy sex scenes are also HOT! HOT! HOT! Oh my! Kiss of Midnight can be compared to JR Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood series, even though (and this may be biased, based on me falling tremendously in love with those characters) I would prefer JR Ward to Lara Adrian at this point. Now, now, that may be because I grew involved in JR's series and have only just begun Lara's. We shall see. Lucan in this novel is the leader of the Breed, a group of warrior Vampires protecting not only their race but also Humans against Rouge Vampires (those that kill Humans in horrific ways) and create terror amongst the population in an attempt to take over the Earth. Lucan is one of the first ancestors of his race and therefore weak to Bloodlust that would make him turn into a Rogue. In this book he meets Gabrielle (who is a Breedmate, those that can mate with their kind but remain human) and tries to keep from falling in love with her and despite his fear of being attached to a mate (he puts his duty first) he ultimately falls for her head over heels. But not without several strikes at her emotional state and not without first having to save her from an unsuspecting attack. Its a very interesting story and I found myself drawn to read the story and not wanting to put the book down.

Summary Gabrielle Maxwell, is a photographer of gothic and abandoned buildings and is starting to increase in popularity. She is not used to the attention. On a night of celebration, she and her friends go to an infamous club that is becoming all the rage. From the first moment she enters, she feels uncomfortable and has an uneasy feeling. Her friends seem to be enjoying it all, but all Gabrielle can think about is the peace and quiet of her home. On her way out, she is the only witness to a horrific murder, and she takes pictures. But the police can't see what she does, and believe she is insane. Lucan Thorne, is a breed warrior, and one of the oldest of his kind and also considered to be royalty. But Lucan fights along side the rest of his warriors to bring an end to the rogues who kill without thought. Lucan wants better for their race and for the future of their children. But when he finds that a human woman is targeted by his enemies, he will have no choice but to bring her into his dangerous world. Lucan senses something different about Gabrielle and learns that she is a breedmate. Which is very rare, a human woman that is capable of being resistant to their "charms" and able to bear children and mate with one of their kind. Lucan is drawn to Gabrielle, she is different than most human women, and despite the danger that surrounds them....even though he doesn't deserve it, he needs her and wants her as his mate. Plot and Story Line Kiss At Midnight is the first in the series and the first book I have read from this author. I have had my eye on this author for quite a while. But I hadn't yet picked up anything from her, even thoughI do love a good vampire romance and boy did I love this book. It had everything that I look for in a paranormal romance. What is interesting is that I picked this one up at the library but didn't plan on it. I just glanced at a shelf, saw this series, and picked the first book. This story starts off with a quick pace, and I was swept away by the story from the first page. It picks up with Gabrielle at a gallery showing of her work. Gabrielle is different from most heroines I have read. She is quiet and reserved, she likes to be on her own unless she is with her close group of friends. She tends to break the law to get the perfect photo. I loved her strength and her tenacity and she has this certain view of the world that is so different and I loved how unique her character is. Not your average heroine yet she was so easy to relate with on a human level. She has certain characteristics I felt close to. Maybe she should cut the guy a little slack, maybe Thorne had been a no-show because something bad happened to him on the job. What if he'd been injured in the line of duty and didn't come by as promised because he was incapacitated in some way? Maybe he hadn't called to apologize or to explain his absence because he physically couldn't. Right. And maybe she had checked her brain into her panties from the second she first laid eyes on the man.”Now lets talk about our hero of the story. Dear Dear Lucan...how I adore thee!! Lucan is quite the alpha, he is the leader, a protector and willing to sacrifice himself for his warriors. He fights with those men he respects and even loves. Lucan is a bit self deprecating at times, he underestimates his own worth, but he is a fighter and won't rest until the rogues are gone. The romance between these two is steamy and slow burning at times. Its not a insta love. They definitely have instant chemistry, from the first chapter they are drawn to one another. “God, was this what Savannah meant when she said the blood-bond would enhance lovemaking? Gabrielle looked at Lucan with pure carnal need, hardly knowing where to begin with him. She wanted to devour him, worship him, use him up. Slake the coiling need that was churning inside of her. “You should have warned me you were feeding me an aphrodisiac.” Lucan grinned up at her. “And spoil the surprise?” “Laugh it up, vampire.” Gabrielle arched a brow, then gripped his stiff erection and sheathed him to the hilt in one long move. “You just promised me eternity, you know. I can make you live to regret it.” “Yeah?” The word was more of a strangled groan as she rocked on him, making his hips buck sharply beneath her.Eyes blazing now, he gave her a glimpse of fang as he smiled, clearly enjoying his torture. “Breedmate, I’m going to love seeing you try.”But when it comes to the actual emotional side of their relationship, that takes a bit slower to form and develop. There are secrets and misunderstandings and a bit of miscommunication. However, Lucan and Gabrielle see each other as they truly are and understand each other in a way that no other does. I liked that they have a bond with each other even if they don't realize it. The supporting characters were quite fun. I loved the other warriors, they have great humor and have this energy that is contagious. “Jesus," Dante interjected when the heavy quiet in the vehicle seemed endless. "All this touchy feely is making me itchy to kill something. How about we quit jerking each other off and go blow the roof off this mutha?”Then we have the villain or groups of villains. Now these are pretty bad and evil creatures. They are vampires but are rogues. Meaning, they don't care about consequences or how many humans they destroy. But the leader has a connection to Lucan I totally didn't see coming. Then we have a betrayal, and a death that was so heartbreaking it brings tender emotions to the surface. There was passion, suspense, danger, tearjerking upheaval and a story that makes me crave the second book!! Can't wait for my next trip to the library. The Cover I love the style of this cover. Its a bit similar to Rebecca Zanetti's vampire series as well. I like the contrast of the yellow and midnight blue. We have the imagery of the sexual tension and then below we have the sense of danger and a graveyard...spooky.Overall View Kiss Of Midnight is a stimulating story of sensual desire, enigmatic characters, and a riveting plot! THRILLS ON EVERY PAGE!!

I'm not really sure how to review this book. I'm trying hard to think of it as it's own story but, to be honest, there are SO MANY similarities to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series that I find myself comparing them.

Overall I think the Gabrielle was a well written, well thought out character who stayed pretty solid throughout the book. Lucan...eh, I could take him or leave him to be honest. I wanted to love him but, in the end, I just couldn't. The plot of the story was well paced and engaging, the arc and the buildup for the series was good without being over the top. Altogether it's a solid summer read...nothing too heavy, a little romance and a decent story that keeps you gobbling up the pages.

I will read book two of the series but I have no clue if I will continue beyond that.
