About this audiobook

Lizzy Gardner is a one-million copy bestselling series.

When Lizzy Gardner was only seventeen, what should have been the perfect night became the perfect nightmare. Kidnapped just blocks from home after a romantic evening with her boyfriend, Jared, she woke up to find herself at the mercy of a depraved serial killer. Imprisoned and tormented for months by the maniac she came to know as Spiderman, Lizzy narrowly escaped, the only one of his victims to survive. But Spiderman escaped too, outwitting police and cursing Lizzy to spend her life looking over her shoulder…

Fourteen years later, Lizzy is a private investigator who teaches self-defense to teenage girls in her free time. She does what she can to help others protect themselves and to forget the horror of her ordeal, yet fears she will always be known as “the one who got away.” Then she receives a phone call from Jared, now a special agent for the FBI, with grim news. The killer has resurfaced, this time with a very specific target—Lizzy. And he’s made it clear that she will not escape him again. So begins a chilling game of cat-and-mouse, a terrifying, heart-pounding hunt that only one will survive.

This was a 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐-listen and a well-written story. Ragan's writing reminds me a lot of Gillian Flynn, but for Flynn's mostly frustrating endings (if you've ever read a Gillian Flynn, you KNOW what I'm talking about). I digress. Only took me 2 days to finish this, it was twisty-good, and I can't WAIT to start the 2nd book in the series. This novel gets a blanket ?thumbs up! Give Teresa Ragan your time... I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Tense and exciting with well drawn characters that I quickly became invested in. I am looking forward to more of this series.

This book has a slow start. I had read/listened to it before and while listening this time was beginning to wonder why I gave it such a high rating, and then I remembered. The build up is slow, but the ending is intense.

This is the first book in the Lizzy Gardner series for T. R. Ragan. Our protagonist is the survivor of a serial killer. She is then faced with trying to survive him a second time, only this time there are others involved that she cares about. It was a great start to the series.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys murder mystery novels. I would further recommend this book or anyone who enjoys a strong female protagonist book.

Okay I liked Lizzy but I loved Hayley. She was a total badass. I would've liked to see more interaction between her and Lizzy. Lizzy was resilient and a real survivor to get through everything and still be there to give back to the community. Jared was good and I wish that he had hung in there with Lizzy because it really does seem like they're meant to be. But there were some issues with the book - there's a hell of a lot of stupidity in this. For instance the story line with Brittany seemed kind of dumb. The thing is her aunt was abducted - you're seriously telling me that she has no commonsense. She talks online to some guy even though she knows the horror stories. She thinks someone is watching her house but doesn't think to mention it to anyone. She even thinks her swim coach is creepy but lets it go until Lizzy drags it out of her why she's acting weird. I just feel like an abduction would change the family and make them more worried and aware of the dangers and risks. Like Cathy doesn't even bother to tell her daughter that there might be a problem. Is she for real? Cathy annoyed the crap out of me. I didn't like her at all. Her petty jealousy and ignorance over what her sister went through is appalling. Jessica runs straight into a house without even bothering to let anyone know what's going on - like why not just spit it out on voicemail and be done. Or hell - a text. Hayley is the only one besides Lizzy with actual brains. Sure, she used herself as bait - but she also explained what she was doing and got his DNA. Like that move was awesome. She might have died - but she also would've made sure he was caught. I would like to read the rest of them but having read some of the spoilers I don't know that I'm up to the challenge. On the other hand, T.R. Ragan really knows how to write a suspenseful read.

A cat and mouse serial killer mystery that spans time. Lizzy is kidnapped by "Spiderman" at age 16. The story begins again as Spiderman reemerges. The action was too slow and the plot too thin for me to continue the series. I give it a 3 star review because the characters were somewhat interesting and well developed.

Lizzy Gardner was abducted and held for 2 months by a serial killer when she was still in high school. After she escaped she became known in her hometown of Sacramento as "the one who got away". She may have escaped but her entire family suffered and she is still haunted by the shadow of "Spiderman" the serial killer who was never caught. Now it appears that Spiderman is back and he wants Lizzy.I really enjoyed this book. I like Lizzy, as damaged as she is. She has a good heart and would do anything to help someone. I also like Jared the man who has never given up on her. The story also introduces Hayley, a girl with more damage than even Lizzy can imagine. This series is a keeper for me.

A serial killer is on the loose. Could it be the same one from 14 years ago that captured and tortured Lizzy Gardner? Is it the same person who is calling her now claiming to be the killer?Throughout the narrative, there is a blend of the tale's current time and flashbacks which the author manages to artfully twist together with no to minimal confusion. A few different characters, including the killer, provide their point of view. These shifts are done without strain.Engaging dialogue helps to drive both the plot and character development. While the characters may be flawed, this only adds to the realism of the tale and the flavor of their turmoil as they struggle to deal with past and present traumas. I felt for them (especially Lizzy and Haley).Overall, an intense read!

    Meh.

I found the characters to be flat, the plot unrealistic, and way too close to torture porn with semi-sexualized young girls for my taste. I didn't really care who the killer was; his identity was so peripheral to the plot that it didn't make much difference. This wasn't really a who dunnit.

I felt that I didn't learn much about the romantic male character, and much of the secondary characters' conflicts appeared to be tossed into the story as an after thought. Mostly those conflicts were unresolved and I didn't feel that they gave me a lot of insight into the characters.

Once again, this is an e-book that I borrowed from Amazon. Given that these are free, I've been borrowing outside my usual comfort zone to explore a little beyond my usual genre boundaries. So far, the books are reconfirming for me why I like the books I do.

The writer obviously is clever. The plot is intricately woven and is really airtight. One of the best books I have read in a long time!

CREEPFEST, for sure.As a teenager, Lizzy is abducted by a serial killer. She manages to escape but lives the rest of her life in fear or her abductor. When he starts up again, years later, Lizzy must face her past to secure her future. There were elements of this book that I really loved. It jumps from character to character which lends to a nice flow and kept me intrigued. However, there were times where it felt like there was just too much going on and it wasn't quite believable. The killer is a CREEPER, totally freaked me out! Lizzy is believable as a struggling survivor. Some other characters seemed like filler but were not too distracting to the story as a whole.I liked it enough that I will probably check out the next installment.

Lizzy Gardner was abducted while walking home one evening. After two months of hellish terror she managed to escape. The past fourteen years she has been trying to overcome the result of this terrible tragedy. Only the boy she was with prior to her abduction calls out of the blue, and she is forced to accept that the nightmare is not over. At seventeen Jared had a lot of overcome himself when his girlfriend disappears walking home from a night out with him. Against his better judgement he had let her get out of the truck and walk home that night, but little did he know that there was a serial killer on the loose in their own neighborhood. Fourteen years later, he finds himself working for the FBI on a case of a young girls disappearance. When they discover a note address to Elizabeth; he immediately knows that the wrong man has been accused and he will stop at nothing to protect her. At seventeen Jared knew he was in love with Lizzy, but after she was found her determination to push him away was never ending. Trying to do what was best he walked away, but never forgot. Vowing not to make the same mistake again; Jared calls Lizzy and so begins the journey of trying to find the "Batman" before he finds Lizzy. This was a thriller to the core. Readers will feel the effects of this terrible and tragic story. The reality of this story is one the you will remember, and such a story will have you looking over your shoulder seeking awareness of your own surrounding. Thrillers are not my most favorite genre, but this was a wonderful presentation. I felt the pace gave a little to be desired, but it was overall a fairly good presentation. Ragan is a talented author not afraid to terrify readers with her fatal characters.
