About this audiobook

Two years in MBA school won't teach you how to double the market's return. Two hours with The Little Book That Beats the Market will.

In The Little Book, Joel Greenblatt does more than simply set out the basic principles for successful stock market investing. He provides a "magic formula" that is easy to use and makes buying good companies at bargain prices automatic. Though the formula has been extensively tested and is a breakthrough in the academic and professional world, Greenblatt explains it using sixth grade math, plain language, and humor. You'll learn how to use this low risk method to beat the market and professional managers by a wide margin. You'll also learn how to view the stock market, why success eludes almost all individual and professional investors, and why the formula will continue to work even after everyone "knows" it.

An old stock market adage says "buy low, sell high." Greenblatt says buy stocks that are both good [high ROA%] and cheap [high E/P%]. Sell stocks a year later. On average, Greenblatt's "magic formula" has earned investors 30% per year.

That was great! A book for stock picking, using a powerful formula; it doesn't mean it works still I loved it. The author explains in a very simple way how find value stocks; companies with great earnings and return on capital. It's also a nice way for us not having the luxury of time to analyze stocks.

Doesn't promise quick gain with no pain, and tells you why the strategy may not work over the short term. Worth a read.

Impressive book for someone who is looking for a long term investment. This is not a good advice for someone like me who is a swing trader. I believe youneed to understand the type of investment you are interested in. I would highly suggest this book if you consider yourself as a long term invester (I mean very long, like years of waiting and having faith in the companies you have invested in).

Did not make much sense to me other constant repetition of “ magic formula” in every sentence.

kind of a miss and hit book. personally would not implement the strategy talked about. would much prefer Payback Time and Rule #1 investing by Phil Town

It’s a great book which distills the effective concepts of investing. Simple enough that even kids get it.

Very interesting and I love that this guy made a free website. But things have changed so much after his update. I’m not sure if his magic formula had that calculated. And all these stocks are American stocks. I haven’t seen anything on the site that can change that. I live in another country.

This book starts off sounding like a get rich quick scheme, but then makes well reasoned arguments why most investors may be better off following their "magic formula" than relying on their own judgement without being willing doing the work necessary to back up that judgement. It is insightful and brutally honest about the reality of investing, and while many of the "get rich quick" investors it is geared towards may miss the point, makes a sound argument about the reality of investing.

Not bad. Confirmed the theory on value investing from Ben Graham and others. Uses some statistics on the long term advantages and talks about using different ratios to find stocks, but mostly just pitched his website for finding the stocks.

Very interesting read, seems like another of the "ultimate solution" books, but I haven't tried their formulas to see if it really works (takes a long time) but I would take the time to read it seeing as it really is a "little book"
