After my disappointment with the last book I read in Adrain's Breedmate series, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go on. However, Tegan's character intrigued me from the get go so I couldn't let his book go unread.Elise Chase suffered tremendous loss in recent years. The loss of her beloved mate hurt her tremendously- but it was the loss of their son that devastated her. Determined to avenge his death, she transforms herself from a sheltered aristocrat to an emotionless hunter who will stop at nothing to see the Breed responsible for killing her son dead - even if it means destroying her sanity to do so.Tegan knows deep loss as well and something about Elise pulls at his heart- a heart he thought long dead. When he finds her laid low from her debilitating gift he decides to give her a hand in controlling it. In the meantime, passion stirs between them and though she awakens something in him, he tries to stay away from her. Until they are both drawn into a web of intrigue that leads them to the other side of the world and to the very center of the struggle between the rogue vampires out to destroy humankind and the group of warriors who have given their lives to stop them.Something dark and sinister is arising and its far worse than the evil Breed they once considered their arch-nemesis.Tegan is the kind of sexy brooding hero that we've come to love in paranormal romance, and Elise's transformation makes this novel a winner. They're coming together is passionate and steamy but I think I enjoyed the intrigue just as much in this one!Although still not as favored as some of the other paranormal romance series out there- I enjoyed Midnight Awakening and am now anxious to get to the rest of the series!

SummaryElise Chase has left dark haven, the only home she has ever known to get justice for the death of her son. She has trained herself to fight and hunts down rogues in the city. She is on a mission and nothing is going to change her mind. When she stumbles on a minion and kills him, she is drawn into a danger she didn’t see coming and then Tegan rescues her. Tegan is shocked to see Elise fighting or living in a run down apartment when she could have the safety of Darkhaven. Tegan understands the pain and the need for revenge, but he also understands how to stay alive. Elise has a powerful ability, an ability that is crippling her in certain ways. She joins forces with the intense Tegan, in order to stay alive, but also to get to the bottom of what the Rogue leader is really after. They stumble across a certain book, which contains certain clues that lead them to Europe and their allies there. Elise and Tegan will discover a secret, a secret that has been kept for centuries, and one that could destroy them. Soon Tegan and Elise not only discover a danger to their kind, but also a passion and a mating they didn’t see coming. The HeroTegan is a Breed warrior, and one of the most powerful of their kind. He understands pain and loss. He once lost his breedmate and still suffers from the pain of that loss despite the amount of years that have passed since. He was betrayed and lost everything he held most dear. Now he has trained hard and is one of the most toughest and fierce of the warriors that fight the rogues. He was the ghost you never saw coming, death breathing down your neck before you even realized you were in the crosshairs. He hasn’t made that many friends, he is brutal at times but is tough. What I found I most loved about Tegan is the hidden qualities that rise to the surface. At first he has quite a tough shell, a shell he has created to protect himself from getting hurt. A shell that most see as cold and unfeeling, but Tegan burns with quite a bit of emotion which he keeps under lock and key. Tegan has that “Tortured Hero” feel to him that is quite heartbreaking, but I loved seeing him shine at different points in the story. The HeroineElise has been suffering and is grief stricken. Elise lost her mate years previous, and then her son got hooked on a dangerous drug that turned him into a rogue. Her son was killed right in front of her when he tried to kill her. Ever since that fateful night, she was changed forever. She left the only home she had ever known, Darkhaven, and left for the city where the rogues lay. She trained herself to fight and to kill minions. Elise has a gift, but her gift can be crippling to her. She hears all the negative thoughts that surround her. What was most likable about Elise was her personality. She has always been reserved but kind and loving. But we see a change in her, where pain and grief have altered her a bit. She has become more tough and resilient, and I quite adored this side of her. Even though there are times she makes mistakes, these are quite human like and very easy to relate to.Plot and StorylineMidnight Awakening continues a bit after the second book ends. When I first started reading, I couldn’t believe our heroine…Elise was the same as the character in the second book. They seemed so different from each other, but we see so much more to Elise. We see her strength and her courage and her ability to adapt to a new circumstance and how she deals with her grief. I really felt for her character, because she has lost both her mate and her son. That was quite heartbreaking, to see her working alone and killing minions and trying to get justice for what was done to her son. And in the beginning, when Tegan and Elise first interact with each other, I was a bit apprehensive. I couldn’t see how these two would work and fit as mates. They seemed so different from each other. At first, they really are at odds with one another and hurt each other even without fully meaning to. But as they begin to work hand in hand more, they begin to mold a bit more and soften with each stage of the story. What was most interesting was how their relationship builds. It is different than the previous two books and I liked that. Seeing something, a bit different and unique develop. Both characters are tough in different ways and it was quite fun to see how they meshed together and created a wonderful harmony in their personalities. Midnight Awakening has a bit more of a “mystery” tone to the story. It does have some action too, but the major drive of this book is the mystery and trying to figure out what the leader of the rogues has up his sleeve, and Tegan and Elise are the keys to finding out what is really going on. We also see some of our other favorite characters, including poor Rio who is still recovering from his injuries. Now I want to talk about the actual romance a bit. They have quite the bantering going on…heated and intense. The sexual chemistry is blazing, they definitely have that going for them. What was most unique about their story was how they complimented each other so well….both physically and emotionally. I really loved the balance that develops between them. There were some intense moments but also some tender and romantic ones that will have you grabbing for your box of tissues.I’ll admit it to you now, and to anyone, anytime. I need you, Elise. I love you. You are mine. My woman, my mate, my beloved. My everything. But his book is next so I CANT wait. We also see a growth in certain character and I loved the depth in this book that kept me hooked. Love the style of Lara Adrian and with each book, I get more caught up in the world building. The CoverI quite love this cover. I love the blue and purple tones and the European street feel to the cover. Love how it relates with the story.Overall ViewMidnight Awakening was a brilliantly crafted romance that takes us across oceans riddled with mystery, suspense and desire….this book has everything that you need in a provoking vampire romance!! Lara Adrian at her best with this one.

Midnight Awakening is the third book in Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series. This is Tegan and Elise’s story, a romance that was teased in the previous book of the series, Kiss of Crimson. This book begins four months after their initial meeting, and Elise, who recently lost her son after he got hooked on Crimson and went Rogue, has vowed to stop the drug trade and take out those responsible for her son’s death. Unknown to everyone else, she’s left her Darkhaven and is living in a low rent apartment among the humans, hunting down Rogues and Minions, but being so close to that many people, as well as using her gift to track Minions is taking a major toll on her psyche. One night, while on patrol, Tegan rescues her from a group of Rogues, and when he discovers what she’s been up to, he tries unsuccessfully to talk some sense into her, while she tries equally unsuccessfully to persuade him that she could be valuable to the Order. It’s not until she retrieves an ancient journal that Marek, the leader of the Rogues, desperately wants and they’re attacked by Rogues again that Tegan realizes how valuable she could be and takes her under the protection of the Order. The journal proves to be a mystery that leads them to Berlin, where they face new dangers as they get closer to the truth that it contains, something that will change everything in the war between the Order and the Rogues. Along the way, passion flares between Tegan and Elise, and although Tegan believes he’s meant to be alone, it isn’t long before he realizes he cannot live without Elise. But Marek and the ancient secrets held in the tome may lead to the demise of them all.Tegan is the lone wolf of the Order and one of only three Gen One Breeds known to still exist. Centuries ago, he lost his beloved Breedmate after she was kidnapped, tortured, and returned to him a Minion. Ever since, Tegan has blamed himself for not doing a better job of protecting her and has consigned himself to being alone. Four months earlier, after the death of Elise’s son, he shared a moment of connection with her over their common grief, and although he’s tried to push her out of his mind, he hasn’t really been able to stop thinking of her since. When he finds her in an alley being attacked by Rogues, he doesn’t hesitate to jump into action to save her, but he tries to tell himself that what she’s doing is none of his business. When she brings him the journal and the Rogues attack again, he has no choice but to take her to the Order’s compound for her protection. However, he has no intention of getting any closer to her until she insists upon using her Darkhaven connections to help the Order gain access to the person they need to speak with in Berlin. When Elise comes to him, asking for a no-strings blood exchange to strengthen her for the trip, she proves to be too much of a temptation to resist. But Tegan still fights his feelings until he realizes that it’s too late and he’s already fallen in love with her. In the beginning, Tegan can be a bit of jerk, which is something I don’t really like in my romance heroes, although in this case, a part of me understood it was his own method of self-preservation. He also mostly gets a pass, because even though the words that come out of his mouth can be cruel, he always treats Elise gently. Even still, he blows hot and cold so many times, that he was starting to irritate me a bit, but once he gave in to his feelings, he became a much more relatable and admirable hero.Elise is a Breedmate, one of the human women who make compatible mates for Breed males. She has lived a rather sheltered existence, being raised in a Darkhaven since infancy. She was mated to a high-ranking Darkhaven official who died five years earlier. Then four months ago, her only son succumbed to the scourge of Crimson and turned Rogue, also dying. After losing him, she vowed to make sure his death wasn’t in vain, so she’s been hunting down Rogues and Minions one at a time ever since. However, living in the human world so close to the dregs of humanity has made it difficult to keep her psychic gift for reading minds under control and the warped malevolence of Minions causes her extreme pain. It’s when one of her migraines is coming on that Tegan finds her, and not only saves her life, but also uses his own psychic powers to ease her suffering. He isn’t convinced, though, that she can be any use to the Order until she brings him the journal. Once they’re at the Order’s compound, she insists upon using her late husband’s connections to help them gain access to a Rogue who’s being held in an Enforcement containment facility. However, weak from five years without Breed blood to nourish her, she knows she’ll need sustenance to avoid being a liability on their trip. She reluctantly asks Tegan to supply what she needs, thinking that he won’t want any strings attached, but ultimately she couldn’t have been more wrong. Their chemistry proves to be off the charts, and although he’s not easy to win over, eventually Tegan admits he’s come to love her as much as she loves him. Elise is a strong heroine to survive all the loss she’s been through and I admired her grit and determination to take out Marek and the Rogues. Her stubbornness also serves her well in helping the Order and in winning over Tegan. With the Midnight Breeds being a long-running series, there are lots of significant supporting characters in Midnight Awakening. Lucan (Kiss of Midnight), the Order’s leader, and his Breedmate, Gabrielle, appear with Lucan saving the day at the end. Gideon (A Touch of Midnight) puts his tech skills to good use, while his mate, Savannah, uses her psychic gift to read the history of an important object, helping to unravel a mystery. Dante and Tess (Kiss of Crimson) appear, with Dante leading a dangerous mission and Tess putting her healing skills to use. Rio who was badly injured in the first book is slowly healing with Tess’s help and is well enough by the end to accompany Dante’s on his mission. He also becomes the hero of the next book of the series, Midnight Rising. Nikolai (Veil of Midnight), Brock (Taken by Midnight), and Kade (Shades of Midnight), the remaining members of the Order, also go on the mission with Dante. We’re introduced to Andreas Reichen, the leader of the Berlin Darkhaven cell, a charmer who proves invaluable to Tegan and Elise while they’re there. I was drawn to him and hoped he might become a future hero, so I was pleased to see that he does indeed get his story told in Ashes of Midnight. I was also happy to see that Elise’s brother-in-law, Sterling Chase, has befriended Dante and also joined the Order, and although he still obviously has feelings for Elise, he doesn’t stand in the way of her getting together with Tegan. He becomes the hero of the book, Darker After Midnight.Overall, Midnight Awakening was another excellent read in this series. I admired Elise’s strength and determination. In spite of her genteel upbringing, she doesn’t shy away from the messier side of life, and although members of the Darkhavens generally view the Order as savages, she manages to see the humanity in Tegan. Initially Tegan is a somewhat uneven character as he fights his feelings for Elise, but once he gives in, I started to like him a lot more and thought that he was a really good hero. The two balance each other out well and make a great couple. The mystery surrounding the journal was extremely well done, revealing some important things that are not to be missed for fans of the series. I was actually a bit surprised by the ending and very much look forward to seeing where things go from here. Besides Tegan irritating me a bit with his sometimes cruel words and with his back-and-forth, hot-and-cold streak, the only other thing that made me drop the half star is that two characters end up dosed with Crimson and yet inexplicably come out totally fine. Maybe I’m misremembering how Crimson works, but I do know that it’s an extremely dangerous drug that has turned many Breeds into Rogues. So I felt like a better explanation of this would have been helpful. Otherwise, this was a near-perfect read that, along with the first two books of the series, has earned Lara Adrian a spot on my favorite authors list and leaves me quite eager to pick up the next book soon.

I like how the author is shaking things up a bit with this book. Elise already knows about the Breed and has in fact be living in one of the Darkhavens (little communities for vampires and breedmates). Looks like the author is going to have to find a new source of conflict for Elise and Tegan.
Ooh I like the animosity between Elise and Tegan. They have such a strong chemistry together. Like the rawness of their relationship. Elise uses Tegan first with drinking his blood to become strong again which in their society is a disrespectful move, breedmates are only suppose to drink blood from their bonded mates.
I like how the booty scene came in the last half of the book. Added more tension between Elise and Tegan but there could have been more in my opinion. The author is really good at setting the scene but seems to lack skill when it comes to the characters.
Wished Marek (the villain) would have had more of fighting end or standoff, he was built up to be a mad ass mofo then just kind of whiffed at the end.
I do like how the author replaced the role of villain Marek with an on the loose Ancient (alien who crash landed on earth or original vampire), keeps the story fresh and keeps the series going.
I don't know this series is starting to run together for me. I really think the character of Tegan (loved how much he cusses, a man after my own heart) saved this story for me. Each book seems like essentially the same story but with different character names. This series seems more about the story than the characters, does that make sense? The author is a good enough writer to keep me interested but I'm starting to get worn on this series.

*I realized I didn't say much about the lead female character Elise. Mostly forgettable unless she was arguing with Tegan then there were flashes of passion but otherwise she was just annoying in her stubbornness.

    Synopsis:
Elise Chase has lived a sheltered life in the Darkhavens of the Breed race but following the horrific death of her son, swears vengeance against those responsible for his downfall. In order to attain her goal, she must first learn to control her debilitating gift and is forced to turn to the most unlikely of allies, Tegan, the deadliest of the Breed warriors.

    Review:
An engrossing page turner. Midnight Awakening has the best plot in the series so far and contains many of my favorite devices including a secret book, an enigmatic riddle and the rise of an ancient enemy. The book wraps up the story line from the previous installments only to conclude with a cliffhanger that introduces the conflict to come. My one small nitpick is that the villain’s eventual demise is a little anti-climactic.

The romance comes in a close second to the previous book, Kiss of Crimson. Tegan and Elise are a wonderful union of opposites and develop an intense emotional and sensual bond. Some readers may find Elise to be snobbish and aloof but I found her strength of character and underlying vulnerability to be engaging - she can definitely kick butt with the best of them. Tegan is a tortured soul and it is great to see him find his ultimate match. I particularly enjoyed the complementary nature of their extrasensory gifts, which added an additional layer to their connection.

Adrian has created an imaginative and immersing world that only improves with each new book, and I look forward to reading the next in the series.

This book had my attention from the first page and I found the book hard to put down. It is the third book in the series and just as hard to step away from as the previous two. Lara does a wonderful job of mixing love, duty, lore, and vampires in a way that makes perfect sense.

Tegan and Elise appear to come from very different backgrounds as well as mind sets. It's not until further in the story when it's revealed just how well matched these two are for each other. It's often been said that good things come in small packages and it's evident that Elise very much lives up to that saying.

Elise is not afraid to stand her ground nor stand up to Tegan despite the fact that he says some things that he later regrets. Both have experienced loss that nearly destroyed them but they both come to realize that life is too short to dwell too much in the past.

I was practically jumping for joy during some of the parts of the book and couldn't wait for Tegan to get it through his thick skull just how much he cares for Elise.

If you've enjoyed the other books in this series, then you'll love this one as well. It certainly pulls at the heart strings. So go on and pick up a copy of the book, it's very much worth it!

This book came free when I purchased another book at a convention. Unfortunately at the time I didn't realize it was the middle of a series. That being said I still actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Ellie is still trying to pull herself together from the death of her husband five years ago and her son four months ago at the the hands of Rogue vampires. Tegan stumbles across her and the two begin working together despite their strong feelings regarding each other.

So what really intrigued me I didn't get a lot of info on (I will probably have to check out the first book); this book seems to have a science fictiony/alien explanation for vampires that definitely seems a little intriguing. I really liked Ellie and Teagan and it was nice to read about them getting together. The characters were all pretty likeable and I hope to check out the rest of the series at some point in the future.

It's official. I love the Breed! After finding the previous two books a little lacking it was so satisfying to see Adrian finally hit it out of the park with Tegan and Elise. The couple is matched perfectly. Both of them have lost mates due to the war with the Rogues. Most recently, Elise also lost her son to the drug Crimson. They know pain loss and Tegan especially understands Elise's need to kill as many Minions as she can. He's been filled with the same need for the past five hundred years.

The romance builds quickly but more believably than in past books. Elise has already been a part of the Breed world for around a hundred years so we could skip the whole "OMG vampires exist?" drama. Elise is strong and capable but unlike the past two heroines she has no TSTL moment of leaving the Order's super secure compound only to get herself kidnapped. While I liked Tegan a great deal he seemed a little too much like the cookie cutter hardened badass. Even though this series focuses more on the men, I found Elise's journey to accept love again much more interesting than Tegan's.

My favorite scene in the series so far happens towards the end and sealed the deal with me and the Breed. Breedmates all have special gifts and watching the women work together using their gifts to solve an important piece of the puzzle won me over right there. In so many other series involving warriors the females disappear or don't really have a role to play in the battle against evil. Not so in the Order. Through their special talents the Breedmates can contribute to the cause without being on the front line.

Adrian keeps giving me more and more of what I love about this series. A diverse cast of warriors, empowered females and a new great evil that makes Marek look like a declawed kitten. She's also introduced yet another character I can't wait to get more of. German playboy Andreas. I'm such a sucker for stories of a gigolo who meets that one woman he can't live without.

Really good, though I must say some parts of the relationship between Tegan and Elise were a tad frustrating. That said, after they FINALLY get it on the story picks up speed real quick and things become a lot more interesting for them and the plot as a whole.

Tegan’s story is everything one would expect from the second of the Gen One Breed Warriors in Lara Adrian’s excellent series. Following seamlessly from the events of books one and two, the taciturn and fierce loner, Tegan, steps into the spotlight and shines brightly. Among the Warriors, Tegan is a legend, like Lucan, but his past has kept him apart from his brethren, his choice and one he adheres to despite all efforts by the others. When he encounters Elise Chase in the middle of a hunt, something about the suffering, heartbroken woman touches his long-dormant heart.

When I started this book, I was already loving Tegan, but wasn’t entirely sold on Elise as a good match for him. As the story wove around me, I began to silently cheer for her, and pray she’d get through to the stubborn male she had fallen so much in love with, despite her best efforts not to!

Volume Three of the on-going Breed saga is a strong entry, revealing a complex and dangerous foreshadowing of things to come. The love story shines and captures, as it is meant to do, and Tegan and Elise are well matched in stubbornness and passion, as well as self-doubts. They fight themselves as much as they do each other, but in the end, destiny and passion take us all where we’re meant to be, and these two are no different.

The book ends with a direct lead-in to book four, and it promises to be a very emotional read as the warrior Rio steps up to heal and re-emerge to take his place in the Warrior Order. As with the earlier books, Ms. Adrian builds her work with deft strokes of the pen, so to speak, and amid passion and pain she also weaves a story that is fraught with danger and darkness.

I discovered the Breed series at the suggestion of a special friend, he told me I’d probably like them better than other series’ I was taken with at that time. He was right. I can’t wait to sit down at the end of the day and immerse myself in this world. I’m savouring these books like a fine wine, in no hurry to get to the last one. If you haven’t checked them out yet, and you like paranormal romance and adventure, this set is a must-read!

This is Tegan’s story. I have to say that I was fascinated with Tegan from the very beginning. He is the tormented bad boy that I love. His history is very sad in so many ways. He lost his mate 500 years ago and was almost over come with bloodlust. I would have hated to see him turn Rogue. Luckily Lucan was able to save him. Tegan has kept his emotions locked away for all this time unable to risk feeling for anyone again. I was very glad that someone was able to crack open the wall the Tegan had built around himself. He is a wonderful man that has a strong sense of honor and integrity. He cares about those he calls compatriots. He would sacrifice all that he is to save one of the order or their mates. Tegan also has a code that he lives by even if most don’t see it. He hates those that prey on the weak and defenseless. He also feels compassion for the Rogues that are being held in the containment facility in Berlin. You can tell that he wishes he could put the poor souls out of their misery. When he realizes that he has fallen in love with Elise he never hesitates to show her in very way he can. I also loved that he was, grudgingly, willing to let Elsie help with the mission in Berlin.Elise Chase has been eaten up with vengeance since her son died. She hunts Minions during the daylight hours hoping to weaken the forces that Marek has amassed. The problem is that her Breedmate talent is killing her slowly. Elise senses the negative thoughts of those around her. Those thoughts wear at her and give her agonizing migraine headaches that can days for her to recover from. She is determined to continue with what she is doing though even when Tegan tells her that she is too weak to continue. It takes her almost dying in a Rogue attack to make her see that she has to find a Breed that is willing to give her blood so she regain her strength and vitality. I don’t really think she understood what would happen when she approached Tegan, asking him to supply with his blood. These two fight their attraction as hard as they can but when Elise is almost killed by a Minion Tegan knows that he can’t stand Elise getting hurt. There is a secondary story that is unfolding within the story of Tegan and Elise finding the love that they both need. This secondary plot is building to the next arc of this series. There is enough here to gear up the reader for future books, just a taste to whet the appetite of all of us rabid readers. This wonderful story ends the first arc of this series. It sees the death of the enemy that the Order has been looking for as well as introducing a new threat. We see all the characters from the previous stories and the introduction of several new ones. I was also glad that the mates of the earlier members of the Order had a part to play in solving the mystery that will lead into the rest of the series. I also loved the love scenes between Tegan and Elise. They burn up the pages with their passion. I also loved that Elise was able to help fight and save Lucan and Tegan from Marek. That was a great scene. I continue to highly recommend this series to all those that love paranormal romance.

I loved both the characters in this book, but was disappointed with the intimacy. As in, there wasn't much. It's no secret: I read these for the lurve and I want lots of it.

I wish I could give half stars but, since I can't, I give this book five.

Much like the first two, "Midnight Awakening" was filled with fighting, UST and a challenging love story. But unlike the others, the characters in this book literally jumped off the page at me. There was such a deep need to connect between Tegan and Elise...such a yearning...and it was beautifully written.

Also, Elise is a badass. I like that in a female lead.

Awww hell! what is it about the brooding, tortured alpha males that get under our skin? I had been looking forward to Tegan's story since he was first mentioned. Cold, distant and to the point of being considered cruel and without emotion, this story met and exceeded my expectations. Having lost his mate centuries ago under horrific circumstances, Tegan's vowed never to love again and devoted everything he had to the war against the Rogues and their leader. Elise, who me met in Kiss of Crimson, was still mourning the death of her mate and her son. While I realize she was in a state of mourning, she seemed like this lost female who had practically given up on life and wandered around as if in a catatonic state. At the beginning of Awakening she has decided to leave the sanctity of the Darkhaven and is eager to avenge her son. She sheds her sheltered persona for a more warrior-like one (right on!). There's the small matter of her gift that gets in the way and no need to guess who sort of comes to her rescue.
The push and pull between Elise and Tegan's doesn't happen quickly or easily which was a nice change of pace. The author took the time to lay their individual pasts out fully which helped a lot to understand them and appreciate their growth. The changes in scenery, since this one takes the Order to Europe, was another nice change of pace to keep the excitement and anticipation up. The ending packs quite a punch as a new and probably more dangerous threat emerges. I read this in one sitting without a break because I couldn't put it down. It's that good!

Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series goes from strength to strength. Midnight Awakening is the third novel in the vampire romance series and possibly the best to date. The story in Midnight Awakening follows on shortly after where Kiss of Crimson left off, and concentrates on the romance between Tegan, a dangerously cold Gen One warrior vampire, and Elise, a breedmate who has lost both her husband and her son to Rogue vampires. I absolutely adored this story and was so looking forward to it! I thought the whole story was really very touching and I'm glad these two paired up. Definitely a good read and one of the best to date!

I’ve been waiting for my ARC of Midnight Awakening for a few weeks now. I was pleased when it arrived in the mail yesterday. I started it right away, even though I was in the middle of two other books and in the middle of cooking dinner. I’m sure my hubby is pleased that I managed not to burn dinner. Afterall I was sucked in on the first chapter. I’ve read and reviewed the 2 previous books in this series. The first being Kiss of Midnight and the second, Kiss of Crimson. I enjoyed both, very much.Midnight Awakening is warrior Tegan’s story. He is perhaps the most chilling and fierce of all the warriors. He is known to have ice running through his veins. I knew his story would be a good one just because any time he made an appearance in the previous books, he was always so silent and very angry. I was not disappointed. I thought Elise was perfect for Tegan. They had great chemistry.I was also pleased about some new characters; Brock and Kade, added in this third installment. That can only mean that there are more books to come. The fourth book in the series Midnight Rising is due to be released in March 2008. It will be Rio’s story. I am really looking forward to reading it.

Tegan lost his love centuries ago, he coped by locking his emotions down and becoming a cold-blooded killer out for revenge.Elise's wounds are raw. She lost her husband and her son, in her son's case in front of her and she's looking for revenge. The two of them find a common ground and then find themselves caring a bit too much for each other. They need each other in certain ways but keeping apart may be their hardest challenge.I did get the clues quicker than the characters but I still found it an interesting read.

This one was about Tegan (my favorite character) and I thought it was a fantastic read. I was waiting to see how she would make the IceMan melt and it took someone with great character to do so. I love that Elise was strong enough to stand up and eventually stand by her man.
