Theodor Seuss Geisel – better known to his millions of fans as Dr. Seuss – was born the son of a park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England, he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children’s books, which included the creation of the one and only ‘The Cat in the Hat’, published in 1957.

It is too difficult and long for toddlers and younger preschoolers, but the older children, with longer attention spans will enjoy this book. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Designed to captivate the very young reader, this Beginning Reader book spins its simple rhymes amid delightful illustrations of an incredible cadre of animals parading across its pages. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is the definition of Dr. Seuss. He counts the fish which can help young children who are learning about numbers. He is a great word player. He knows how to juggle the words and put them into a unique work of art. He talks almost like the fish are people and he is telling the children that fish not unlike people come in different shapes and sizes.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5In his whimsical way, Dr. Seuss teacher kids about counting and colors.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dr. Seuss at his best. The fun and imaginative world that he creates in such few words is a gift that is timeless.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Playing with words can be fun! How many words can one come up with that rhyme or sound similar? Dr. Seuss is well known for all of his clever rhyming stories. "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish," is a popular story that helps children develop a sense of rhyming because they are exposed to a variety of words that all sound alike. Children become aware of this because they can hear the similarity when it is read aloud. Another thing that is touched upon in Dr, Seuss' book is acknowledging that things are diverse. In the story, he mentions that there are red fish, fat fish, skinny fish, blue fish, old fish, new fish. He even talks about how some of them are different in their own unique ways (characteristics) For example, he said "some fish are sad. And some are glad. And some are very, very bad." Another thing that is touched upon is incorporating math into the story. Counting is involved in the title, the beginning of the story counting fish, and in the middle of the story with counting feet and fingers. The adventure awaits you and your child to explore and experience all of the wonderful things words and a story can give you!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish is a classic Dr. Seuss book which highlights the friends/pets of a boy and girl. The book is great for young children to read along to since all the words are short, and easy. The book also has a catchy rhythm to it which children seem to like. The illustrations are distinct and easy for children to grasp differences. I would recommend keeping this book in a collection aimed at kids ages 5 and under.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5In this classic Dr. Seuss students can learn to read with using numbers and colors. The great thing about this book is it's a rhyming book that is easy for kids to read along with or learn to read. It is a favorite for a lot of Dr. Seuss classic books. Good to have in a classroom library.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While most of this book is ridiculous (in typical Seuss fashion with a number of completely made up words and beings), children absolutely love the repetition, the rhymes, and the playing with words that its pages contain. Like the children in the book, when the book's done, young readers can feel that "Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one. Every day, from here to there, funny things are everywhere." What a wonderful sentiment to leave them with at the end of the day.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is very good and I love it because it was my favorite childhood book. Its good for young kids to read and it'll help them.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another fantastic Seuss story. If you think that all Suess poems are just about the words and rhymes, then read a little deeper - while his word play is a major factor in his work, he has other messages, as well. This story is about being original, unique, or different. How many strange things you can see in this world, and how not only is that okay, it's wonderful. Of course the subject often veers into the surreal, but that kooky touch is what makes his books so appealing to kids, along with the rhymes. As always, this is a great book with which to explore language. Read Seuss to the children in your life, they'll love it and won't even know how much they're learning.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This nonsensical romp through a gallery of imaginary creatures introduces beginning readers to a variety of rhyming letter combinations.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A favorite of young children everywhere, this Dr. Seuss classic helps with reading and counting. This book is fun to read because of the rhyming. It has very simple, short words so it is easy for younger children or beginning readers, however the rhyming sequence could also help readers develop fluency. There are many lessons you could do with this book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was one of my favorite books as a child, and for good reason. The imaginative creatures that Dr. Seuss describes in this classic children's book help early readers see that reading can be fun. And, as Dr. Seuss says, "Fun is good." The musical rhymes are great for reading out loud, whether you're an adult reading to children or a child reading a book by yourself for the first time. The subject matter of the book is also a boon to early readers as it explains that "funny things are everywhere." Early readers can see that diversity should be embraced and applauded when they read about Yops who like to hop, or Zeds who have one hair on their heads. This appreciation of diversity is an important message to take into adulthood. It is for this reason that Dr. Seuss' book is given to young readers everywhere.
