About this audiobook

Trenton, New Jersey, bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has inherited a "lucky" bottle from her Uncle Pip. Problem is, Uncle Pip didn't specify if the bottle brought good luck or bad luck. . . .

BAD LUCK:

Vinnie, of Vincent Plum Bail Bonds, has run up a gambling debt of $786,000 with mobster Bobby Sunflower and is being held until the cash can be produced. Nobody else will pay to get Vinnie back, leaving it up to Stephanie, office manager Connie, and file clerk Lula to raise the money if they want to save their jobs.

GOOD LUCK:

Being in the business of tracking down people, Stephanie, Lula, and Connie have an advantage in finding Vinnie. If they can rescue him, it will buy them some time to raise the cash.

BAD LUCK:

Finding a safe place to hide Vinnie turns out to be harder than raising $786,000. Vinnie's messing up Mooner's vibe, running up pay-per-view porn charges in Ranger's apartment, and making Stephanie question genetics.

GOOD LUCK:

Between a bonds office yard sale that has the entire Burg turning out, Mooner's Hobbit-Con charity event, and Uncle Pip's lucky bottle, they just might raise enough money to save the business, and Vinnie, from ruin.

BAD LUCK:

Saving Vincent Plum Bail Bonds means Stephanie can keep being a bounty hunter. In Trenton, this involves hunting down a man wanted for polygamy, a turnpike toilet paper bandit, and a drug dealer with a pet alligator named Mr. Jingles.

GOOD LUCK:

The job of bounty hunter comes with perks in the guise of Trenton's hottest cop, Joe Morelli, and the dark and dangerous security expert, Ranger. With any luck at all, Uncle Pip's lucky bottle will have Stephanie getting lucky---the only question is . . . with whom?

Janet Evanovich's Sizzling Sixteen . . . so hot, the pages might spontaneously combust!

Another great Stephanie Plum story. I laughed out loud so many times listening to this book. The characters are a hoot!

Sizzling Sixteen is a winner in the Stephanie Plum series. Some of the more recent books in this series have suffered from overuse of the same old gags. This one seemed much fresher. Vinnie, Stephanie's bail bondsman boss, has been kidnapped. His three employees, Stephanie, Lula, and Connie are trying to track him down and rescue him while at the same time raising $1million+. Stephanie's high school friend Mooner also figures heavily in the plot along with Ranger. Morelli is kind of off to the side in this one although he's around. Actually, if it weren't for Ranger there would be no more Stephanie. I think the books where Ranger figures heavily in the action move a little better than those where Morelli leads. Just my personal bias, however. It's a quick, fun read that offers a good pick-me-up.

A better showing then the last few books... evanovich is actually moving her characters forward in this book, giving the series the added twist it needed in its 16th round. Looking forward to the next one.

once again another great one. Explosions, fires, bad guys trying to get to the bonds office and this time they may have succeeded. However Vinnie sure gets himself into a pickle this time. The morrelli Stephanie thing is an off again this time. Sigh..

Exactly what I was in the mood for. Stephanie finds herself in ridiculous position. She is torn between Ranger and Morelli. Things go very wrong. And the Hobbits save the day!

In my eyes, Stephanie Plum can do no wrong!! I love the relationship between Stephanie and all the characters...especially Lula.

Normally Stephanie has to hunt down bail jumpers...this time she has to do that and find Vinnie, who has been taken, hostage. With Lula and Connie helping her out, Stephanie gets into a lot of trouble that includes funeral homes, stink bombs, the love bus and more!

This was a quick, fun read that has me ready for #17.

Much as I loved this series and have waited in line to get the latest entry, I am getting a bit weary of it all. Choose Ranger or Morelli and put us out of our misery, already. I persist because the book usually takes only a couple of hours to read, but aside from the slightest of plots and a few slapstick moments, there is no movement in the characters; they are static figures, exactly the same as they were 16 versions ago. People change and grow. Well, they should. But Evanovich continues to sell an old idea in new clothes and it has made her rich, but it is beginning to make me grumpy.

I have read all of the Stephanie Plum novels so far and I just love these books. They are a very easy read and are something to read when you just wanna relax after a long day. They are just so humorous and I love all the characters, especially Grandma Mazur. It has a little bit of everything thrown in, while still being lighthearted.

I would recommend these books to anybody.

Digital audiobook performed by Lorelei KingThe Stephanie Plum series continues with Steph still seemingly undecided between Ranger and Morelli, still working for her cousin Vinnie’s Bail Bondsman business, still (in)capably assisted by Lula and Connie, and still having car troubles. This time out Vinnie has gotten into trouble with gambling debts and the girls are determined to rescue him from his bad behavior; Vinnie may be a scum bag but he’s their scum bag, and they need their jobs. The books are fast reads, full of action and improbable scenarios that just plain tickle my funny bone. Grandma Mazur is a hoot, and she gets a few scenes in this outing. There are also a variety of eccentric characters that make regular appearances, as well as the fool criminals Stephanie is after. And, of course, we have many opportunities for a run to the donut shop or Cluck a Bucket fried chicken. Lorelei King does a marvelous job of narrating the audiobooks. She sets a good pace and I love her voice for Lula!

If you want a book that is exactly like the previous 15 books, then this is for you. But after 16 books, I was hoping for a little character evolution. It took me two days to read this, and it usually takes a lot less. I was rather bored, yet again. Evanovich needs to find a way to advance the story without upsetting fans. I don't know if I can stand following anymore of the same-old same-old... and it hasn't been good since about 12 or 13. :(

The latest Stephanie Plum novels finds Stephanie, Lula and Connie trying to come up with the money to pay the ransom rescue Vinny from his bookie. Of course, there are lots of failed plans, a destroyed car, doughnuts, Cluck-in-a-Bucket, a new diet for Lula and more Ranger (forget about Stephanie and just come get me, Ranger).

Lorelei King does another excellent job of narrating this audiobook. I am never disappointed in one of her performances. I can see the characters she's reading. This isn't my favorite Stephanie Plum novel but it was another solid entry in the series.

I read this book in one day. I have read all the previous Stephanie Plum books and I enjoyed them all. This was probably not the best in the series, but still a good read, especially for fans of the series.

The story centers around Stephanie's boss Vinny being kidnapped and the subsequent attempts to pay the ransom and get him back. Vinny is not the most likable character, and I didn't really care if they got him back or not. The main focus of the story was on Stephanie, Lula and Connie. It was nice to see Connie do more than just sit behind the desk. On the other hand, other characters such as Joe, Ranger and Grandma only made brief appearances. The perpetual love triangle between Stephanie, Joe and Ranger was not explored very much in this book. There was some interesting stuff with Moon and his hobbit convention. I did laugh out loud a couple of times at the absurdity.

Overall, this was a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Book sixteen (or maybe twenty, depending on how you count them) in Janet Evanovitch's Stephanie Plum series. This time, Stephanie's cousin/boss gets kidnapped and held hostage by a gangster who's threatening to kill him unless someone pays off his gambling debts. Also, there's an alligator. And people dressed up as hobbits. At their best, these books can be reasonably funny. At their worst, I find them kind of annoying. This one was neither. It's vaguely amusing in places, maybe, and it's still playing up the interminable love triangle I was tired of three books in. But mostly it was just readable and instantly forgettable, with a possibly even dumber than usual plot.Honestly, I think I'm just getting tired of this series. And yet, I somehow can't seem to stop reading it. Send help.

BOTTOM-LINE:Still enjoyable read, but the plot was thin.PLOT OR PREMISE:Vinnie has gambling debts, and if he doesn't cough up $800K, he's toast. Which would put Connie, Lulu and Stephanie out of work, so they pitch in to help. If they can keep him safe that long..WHAT I LIKED:The various options to get money to save Vinnie were varied, fun and creative. And the plot involving the Bulgarian was decent..WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:It takes a LONG time to get to the solution, and the Hobbit ending was a bit over the top..DISCLOSURE:I received no compensation, not even a free copy, in exchange for this review. I am not personal friends with the author, nor do I follow her on social media.

Another Plum book, another storyline where Stephanie dances around and flirts endlessly with Ranger and goes on and on about how sexy he is, but still ends up with Morelli. Again. Although the storyline with Mooner and the Hobbit convention was totally worth reading this one.

Kind of dull, but at least it's a turn around from the previous 3. Honestly what an improvement, it seemed as if Evanovich read the readers' reviews of her last book & focused on improving the series.

Stephanie wasn't as an insipid incompetent as in the previous 3, Lula was more of a person & not such an insulting clownish caricature as in the previous 3. Her relationship w/ Joe & Ranger were (in my opinion) more realistic.....

So yes I liked it.....it was a good quick vacation read.

While better than its immediate predecessor, I don't feel it quite meets the expectations I had based on previous books in the Stephanie Plum series. Stephanie seems stuck in the same old ruts--she still can't decide between Morelli and Ranger, and she hasn't progressed in her job to the point where she can catch even one FTA with a minimum of fuss. At some point, her character needs to grow, or the series becomes a mere caricature.

I do like how Evanovich weaves humor into her plotlines.

After the movie, One for the Money (I loved it), I wanted to read the books. I was half happy and half disappointed (to be fair the first few books were better than the rest - I've read 17 or 18). The writing isn't anything special but there is banter and wit (which is waning). I love her grandma, the ex-hooker, and some other random side characters - that and the witty moments kept me coming back for more.By the time of the 5th book (or at least by the 10th) you would think she would start to get the hang of her job or get a new one - nope. At a certain point she is just a pretty woman of 30ish who can't pick from 2 men (or choose to move on from both), who is bad at her job, and relies on luck and the men in her life to save her (to be fair I think of one time she was saved by a woman). So why do I keep reading? In spite of how annoying she is, and how she is hopelessly in love with 2 mildly mentally abusive men? Despite all the half attractive or good guys being over 6 ft tall for some reason and all the other men are taken or ugly? The reason is the supporting crazy characters, and the fading wit.

I've had time to reflect on this one before writing a review. Up until now I've whole-heartedly enjoyed every single adventure with Stephanie though throughout the last one I was beginning to wonder if she would ever grow up. And now I'm ready for her to move on it seems she agrees with me. Stephanie has hinted that she no longer enjoys being a bounty hunter and is considering her options.

There was a point in this book where I believed it to be the last of the series but I'm fairly sure it will be coming to an end soon, and I think it's time. Don't get me wrong there were still some hilarious scenes but certain things had begun to irritate me so I hope the series ends before I have to abandon it before I start disliking it.

Hilarious. Broadly and farcically hilarious. The hobbit rescue scene may have hit a height that cannot be matched. Even Lula is a bit less grating than usual. Loved it. It even made my husband laugh out loud, so that's saying something.
