Stephanie Plum's got rent to pay, people shooting at her, and psychos wanting her dead every day of the week (much to the dismay of her mother, her family, the men in her life, the guy who slices meat at the deli . . . oh, the list goes on). An ordinary person would cave under the pressure.

But hey, she's from Jersey.

Stephanie Plum may not be the best bounty hunter in beautiful downtown Trenton, but she's pretty darn good at turning bad situations her way . . . and she always gets her man. In To the Nines, her cousin Vinnie (who's also her boss) has posted bail on Samuel Singh, an illegal immigrant. When the elusive Mr. Singh goes missing, Stephanie is on the case. But what she uncovers is far more sinister than anyone imagines and leads to a group of killers who give new meaning to the word hunter.

In a race against time that takes her from the Jersey Turnpike to the Vegas Strip, Stephanie Plum is on the chase of her life. The unforgettable characters, nonstop action, high-stakes suspense, and sheer entertainment of To the Nines define Janet Evanovich as unique among today's writers.

BEWARE!! This version has been abridged to about half length, as have many of her books here. And no warning given. This site wouldn't let me leave a one star review either. Or accept my email addresses when trying to contact support. Seems as though this site is a scam

Once again Janet did justice in adding to the story. Stephanie and Morelli living together however once again for how long. I am wondering if they will ever end up together. Although it makes for interesting reading.

    Typical Stephanie Plum adventure.
Bit obvious as I'd figure the bad guy out almost straight away - light relief as usual.

Vinnie writes a Visa Bond for Samuel Singh. He has 3 months and then must return to his own country. But Mr. Singh disappears and Stephanie must find out why and where. This one takes us out of Trenton - to Vegas. Along with Lulu and Connie, Stephanie tracks her fugitive and tears up Vegas, and Ranger's men. Stephanie also has to deal with a situation with Morelli and Terry Gilman (an ex-girlfriend of Joe's). And Joe's Grandma Bella prophesies of Stephanie's death. And find a missing dog.So funny that I couldn't bear to put it down.

The best thing about Evanovich's Plum series is the consistency of characters and timeline. With every book, Stephanie's life progresses with little backtracking or inconsistency. Evanovich does a great job catching the reader up, especially if someone is jumping into the series in midstream and hasn't read books one through eight. Reading the entire series is helpful, but not necessary.Even though I am irked about Stephanie's relationships with Morelli and Ranger, I appreciate the growth in them. I don't think it's a spoiler alert to say that at the end of To the Nines Stephanie drops calling Morelli by his last name and moves onto calling him Joe. Is that a subtle hint that she is ready to get more serious? She did just move back in with him and gave up her apartment to her sister. Speaking of Valerie, she just had a baby (out of wedlock) and that definitely has Stephanie's biological clock ticking a little louder. Enough of that. Onto the plot:The bounty hunting part of Stephanie's life takes more of a back seat in To the Nines. This time around, she is the hunted. Someone is sending her creepy messages coupled with a calling card of one rose and one carnation. It's the same message sent to several other victims. Could she be next on this serial killer's list? This time Ranger and Joe make a concerted effort to protect Stephanie as she tries to figure out who is capable of getting so close to her they can take a lock of her hair?

I have read all of the Stephanie Plum novels so far and I just love these books. They are a very easy read and are something to read when you just wanna relax after a long day. They are just so humorous and I love all the characters, especially Grandma Mazur. It has a little bit of everything thrown in, while still being lighthearted.

I would recommend these books to anybody.

Stephanie Plum, Bond Enforcement Agent, has bad guys stalking her, men lusting after her, and keeps losing cars as usual. In To The Nines she is chasing clues to find Samuel Singh, a man who wants to evade his fiancé and players in a deadly computer game. Her sister's baby is due and Grandma Mazur is up to her usual craziness. Fast, funny, and feverish fun.

Here is another Stephanie Plum book that is sure to delight readers. Ranger and Lulu are here to help Stephanie get her man. Again, I just love everyone in this series. They really do bring the fun. The best part is that the men that Stephanie is after are not always the brightest but some how they seem to give Stephanie a run for her money. Luckily, she does have Ranger to help her. When he walks into a room; people pay attention to him. There were so many funny moments that I can't pick a favorite. All I know is that I could not stop reading and laughing. Each book seems to get better if that is possible.

By far, the Stephanie Plum bounty hunter series is one of my favorite mystery series that never fails to make me laugh and is hard to put down. To the Nines was no exception. Although this time around Stephanie did not fall victim to her car blowing up, she did seem to work her way through bodyguards. In this fun filled mystery, Stephanie sets out to find a missing man and unwittingly finds herself as part of a deadly game where the winner is supposed to be the only one left alive. Ms. Evanovich’s colorful and fun loving characters continue to steal the show, making for an even more enjoyable read.

BOTTOM-LINE:Fun secondary characters but sloppy plotting.PLOT OR PREMISE:To the Nines (St. Martin's Press, 2003, ISBN/ASIN: 978-0312991463, Plum (9)) is the ninth outing in the bounty hunter on LSD series, starring Stephanie Plum, Jersey girl. This one has Plum chasing an immigrant on a work visa bond, all the way from Jersey to Vegas..WHAT I LIKED:The girls' trip to Vegas was awesome with Connie along, and Stephanie's random wiping out of RangerMan employees is kind of epic..WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:The "there's a psycho stalking me" subplot gets old pretty fast, and she's done it in at least four of the books so far. This one is actually menacing for a change, but that's about it, and the plot with Singh as immigrant is kind of bland. However, the main plot for the story is revealed only by happenstance, and that's a giant no-no for me. Almost no way to figure it out until some random tertiary character reveals it all at once. Sloppy plotting..DISCLOSURE:I received no compensation, not even a free copy, in exchange for this review. I am not personal friends with the author, nor do I follow her on social media.

Book nine (or is it ten? nine and a half?) in Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. This time, Stephanie is out to apprehend a guy whose US work visa is about to expire, which involves following him to Las Vegas. Meanwhile, someone keeps sending her flowers, but not in a good way, and she begins to notice her biological clock ticking. It's possible I was just in the wrong mood for Evanovich right now, but I think I may have reached the point where this series is starting to get old for me. There are some funny moments -- Stephanie switching out her bad luck with cars for bad luck with bodyguards was fun -- but a lot of the stuff that was meant to be funny -- an overdone running joke about Lula's diet, Stephanie's target's annoying landlady -- really just weren't.Meanwhile, Stephanie's Lust Triangle of Doom, which I'm not a fan of, continues apace. And I am really, really ready to be done with plots that involve Stephanie being stalked. It's starting to be creepy in a bad way. And the revelation here of why she was being stalked in this one was just... dumb. I mean, OK, you don't read these books for the intelligent plots. Maybe the problem was mine for not being able to turn my brain off far enough (something I'm usually quite willing to do for this series so I can just sit back and enjoy the ridiculous ride). But... But it was really, really dumb.

I love the characters in these Stephanie Plum novels. I guffawed aloud numerous times. Lula, the ex-hooker, was divine this time around. Joe Morelli's grandmother and her visions were wonderful as well. Great read!

Bounty Hunter Stephanie Plum is partnered with Ranger when a man on a work visa bond goes missing and she finds herself caught up in a deadly game. All of the regulars are on hand to add chaotic humor and in a twist, instead of destroying cars, Stephanie is destroying Ranger’s men. These books are potato chip reads; light and easy to get through and you’re done before you know it. Don’t expect any growth on Stephanie’s part and that’s part of the charm, as is the sexual tension with Ranger while in an “on again” stretch with Morelli. We see a lot of both in this book.I don’t know how many times I’ve reread this book over the years, but it still brings enjoyment and a nice escape from reality.

    Originally on my book blog!

I really did not think that these books could get any funnier, but this would almost killed me. I'm not sure if I read this when I was sleep deprived (I did) or if it's really just that funny (it is) but I could not contain my laughter for very long. Every part of this book, the humor, the mystery, and the romance, came together perfectly to make a seriously fabulous book.

This book had some of the funniest material I've seen in a book. When Lula wasn't talking about her "diet" (a no carb diet, so she decided she would eat meat 24/7), she was losing her luggage on the way to Vegas. When she wasn't doing either of these, Stephanie was going through Ranger's employees like she usually does with his cars. I didn't go a full five pages without finding something hilarious. It was the best workout I've had in months, so thank you Janet! After going from a very serious and heavy Alex Cross novel, going to a hilarious and clueless Stephanie Plum novel was just what I needed.
The mystery was a great plot and kept the book going smoothly. Most of her books don't have a seriously intense part but this one had a scene where I was on the edge of my seat and trying to breathe (and failing). It was interesting and fun and unique. There was a lot more mystery in this one than others because she actually had to search for the guy instead of just try to pick him up at home.

Ranger Ranger Ranger Ranger Ranger. Oh you didn't ask me who I like more? Well it's Ranger, in case you ever want to. I ship Ranger and Stephanie forever. If only he was "marriage type" but I digress. Stephanie is somewhat dating Joe in this book while also spending some quality time with Ranger. Nine books in and she still hasn't picked one of them. Neither of them are really marriage material at this moment, much to Stephanie's mother's dismay. Most people would get bored or plain annoyed that she's dragging both guys along for 9 books, but I read these books in part to see what happens with Ranger or Joe.

If you want a light read with a good plot, great characters, and fabulous humor: pick up this series. Seriously, do it. I dare you.

Have you read any of these books? Are you a Babe or a Cupcake? (I stole this from Sharon @ The Book Barbies so thank her for it)

Love King on the audio and has everyone down as far as characters! Always drams and lots of laughs...Lulu is a riot!

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is assigned the case of Samuel Singh, an immigrant who has vanished on a Visa bond. The case will take her to Las Vegas, while her personal life involves rooming with Joe, working with Ranger, and dealing with her mother, who is stressed out owing to having Valerie, Steph's sister, in the house, unwed and about to give birth. As usual, there is lots of humor, a gaggle of unusual characters, the exploits of Stephanie's colleague Lulu, and, this time, a serial killer who is after Stephanie. Lorelei King brings a sultry yet wry voice to Stephanie's story, capturing the absurdity of many of the situations. Ranger and Joe are well voiced, and King's characterization of Lulu captures her unique personality without verging into caricature. Even minor players, such as Singh's landlord/mother-in-law-to-be, are brought to vivid life.

In To the Nines, Stephanie Plum, reluctant bounty hunter extraordinaire, has a new F.T.A.: Samuel Singh. Unlike the majority of F.T.A.s, Singh is on a worker's visa. He's originally from India. It's very important that Stephanie finds him or else Vinnie will be the laughingstock of New Jersey. That sounds simple enough but nothing is ever simple for Stephanie.

On the journey to locate Singh, she begins to get stalk by someone leaving on red roses and white carnations for her. Along with creepy stalker emails and love notes. Not to mention a high death count of everyone involved with Singh and even an unsolved murder and random tranquilizer shots to the back. It seems to be all part of some online role playing game where players have to eliminate each other in order to get the prize. Unfortunately for Stephanie, she's the prize.

On the home front, her mother is having a panic attack about her increasingly growing and claustrophobic household. Her very pregnant sister Valerie cannot decide if she want to marry the lovable but goofy Alfred and Stephanie doesn't know if marriage and babies are in her future with Joe Morelli. Then there's always Ranger...

I really enjoyed To the Nines. It was kind of creepy with the Web Master's game. It reminded me of a modern The Most Dangerous Game which freaked me out. Although, I did see the identity of the Web Master a mile away. I was impressed with the characterization of Stephanie. She is no longer the helpless thing she used to be. Not that she was really helpless to begin with. She was more docile. In To the Nines, Stephanie was actually getting some punches in.

I also liked the evolution of her relationship with Morelli. There was some real growth and maturity between the characters. I still hope they won't get married. That would switch up their dynamic way too much. A part of me is secretly hoping she'll get with Ranger.

A Visa bond goes missing and Stephanie has to track him down. She, Lula, and Connie go to Vegas. Rescue a dog. And Stephanie becomes a prize in a murder game. Like all Stephanie Plum books, this is just a good time.

When Stephanie attempts to track down a missing Visa bond, she finds herself caught up in an Internet kill game, in which a game master assigns the target and other players try to take the target out before the others do. Her search takes her to Las Vegas and back (with the ever hilarious Lula, the mysterious Connie, and the equally sexy Joe Morelli and Ranger popping in and out of the story). Funny, and suspenseful towards the end, I really only read these books for the outrageous characters (Lula and Grandma Mazur) and the sex scenes…

I enjoyed this one and was happy that is was definitely better than the 8th and 8.5th books of the series. This had just the right amount of action, romance, and a little bit of humor thrown in. I love that Valerie isn't perfect anymore and that she had her baby. I really look forward to her and Albert getting married. I also can't wait to read more about Stephanie and Morelli's relationship now that she has moved in with him again.

Stephanie is at it again with her wonderful cast of supporting characters. I like Evanovich's light writing style and her ability to get ideas across with few words. And she is FUNNY! Like one of the other reviewers I found something lacking in this one; it seemed I didn't care quite as much. Nevertheless, I laughed and chuckled all the way through especially around the 'vaseline guy' and Grandma Mazur. I love the relationships between Stephanie and Morelli and Stephanie and Ranger and will be sad should the sexual tension between them change. I love that both men recognize that they each care for her and take turns protecting her from the stalker. And, although I felt that the mystery was a little to 'pat' I did find the resolution very intense and suspenseful. All in all, a good read. On to 10 Big Ones.

Stephanie's new sunshine yellow Ford Escape doesn't get blown up - but the body count is unusually high in the ninth installment of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. To The Nines brings us out west to Las Vegas where the girls - Stephenie, Lula, and Connie - track down a new kind of FTA, one for a Visa Bond. Unfortunately, he is a player in a deadly web game, where the bullets are real and the players kill one another off in order to find out who their final target is. Morelli and Ranger work double time trying to protect Stephanie, and keeping every hair on her head safe might not be realistic this time. Did I mention Lula's on a diet?!?In my opinion, To The Nines was missing something. Maybe it needed a trip to Silva's Funeral Home. Maybe it needed more family dinners with Grandma Mazur. I'm not sure. We still had Morelli. We still had Ranger. Plenty of people were still breaking into Steph's apartment. Most importantly, there was still plenty of action and one-liners!Here are a few of my favorites:"Lula was a ho in a previous life. One night while plying her trade she had a near-death experience and decided to change everything but her wardrobe. Not even a near-death experience could get Lula out of spandex."The review wouldn't be complete without a great line about New Jersey and all her glory:"Fancy-pants wimps in L.A. rated their pollution and curtailed activity. In Jersey we just call it AIR and get on with life. If you're born in Jersey, you know how to rise to a challenge. Bring on the Mob. Bring on bad air. Bring on taxes and obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and macaroni at every meal. Nothing defeats us in Jersey."AMEN, sister! To all my friends in New Jersey: if you haven't started reading this series yet, you're missing out on a great time. These books are my candy, and I absolutely love them! Throw the first book, One for the Money, into your beach bag this summer, you'll be thanking me before it's time to reapply your sunblock!

Pretty much on the same level as the last book (see my review for Hard Eight). It’s got a so-so plot, but quite a few hilarious moments. I almost peed my pants laughing in the very first chapter when Stephanie has to go after an FTA who calls himself “the Vaseline man.” Another extreme laugh attack occurred when Valerie goes into labor and her water breaks, splashing all over one of Ranger’s tough, macho bodyguards. Stephanie is back with Morelli and has some amusing encounters with his Grandma Bella, but I’m still feeling rather ambivalent about the series’ romantic relationships. The Morelli situation seems too good to last, and Evanovich is probably going to throw a wrench into it, forcing Stephanie back into Ranger’s arms - rinse and repeat. But To the Nines is still a fun, hilarious, and entertaining story, and I’m undoubtedly going to keep reading the series.
