About this audiobook
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Harlan Coben, a heart-pounding thriller about the ties we have to our past...and the lies that bind us together.
It's a profile, like all the others on the online dating site. But as NYPD Detective Kat Donovan focuses on the accompanying picture, she feels her whole world explode, as emotions she’s ignored for decades come crashing down on her. Staring back at her is her ex-fiancé Jeff, the man who shattered her heart—and who she hasn’t seen in 18 years.
Kat feels a spark, wondering if this might be the moment when past tragedies recede and a new world opens up to her. But when she reaches out to the man in the profile, her reawakened hope quickly darkens into suspicion and then terror as an unspeakable conspiracy comes to light, in which monsters prey upon the most vulnerable.
As the body count mounts and Kat's hope for a second chance with Jeff grows more and more elusive, she is consumed by an investigation that challenges her feelings about everyone she ever loved—her former fiancé, her mother, and even her father, whose cruel murder so long ago has never been fully explained. With lives on the line, including her own, Kat must venture deeper into the darkness than she ever has before, and discover if she has the strength to survive what she finds there.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great read, keeps you guessing until the end, liked all the characters too, well written.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So unexpected, this book was awesome. I absolutely love the narrator. She provides so much to the reading of this book. She doesn't just read it. She adds emotions, new voices, and tone changes. You can close your eyes and "see" what is happening in the story. This is such a storyline. I had no idea who killed her father until the end. I highly recommend reading or listening to this book. I hope it is or will be out in a movie. I am dedicated to reading and listening to every one of his books. This book is at the top.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I'm really enjoying his books. There's always an interesting twist. Can't wait to read more!!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Quick fun and a few twist amd turns. Stubble upon this on a whelm.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5OMG!!! January did a GREAT JOB. Myst have read. Thanks Harlen.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Who done it right up to the last chapter
Love his style
Just discovered him love everything I’ve read so far that he authored - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Definitely not my favorite book. It was acceptable at best. I was really hoping this guy would be my next binge but not looking good so far.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The pacing was a bit off in this novel - it was quite slow to get going and then there was an awful lot crammed into the final quarter. Things came together plot-wise very satisfactorily at the end.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Classic Harlan Coben. His style reminds me a little of John D. MacDonald.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5a waste of my time~~
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Not up to Coben's usual standard, but still worth reading. It's somewhat darker than most of his books in terms of the sort of crimes depicted, and lacks Coben's usual humour. Some twists and turns, most of which you'll see coming, with a reasonably satisfying conclusion.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I honestly don't remember when a book pissed me off as much as this one. I listened to the audiobook until the last hour and I just couldn't take it any more. I was interested in how the plot turned out but not enough to listen to the way this author demeaned women and made his characters into people I would vote off the island first. The main protagonist, especially, had less credibility than most comic book characters. I have read a few of Coben's stand alones that were pretty good. But I'm never wasting my time or money on another one.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Disappointed. Disgusted. Not up to Coben's standards. Pretty mushy; after struggling to listen for about an hour, I gave up. No mystery, just gooey, gushy -- not my style.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Readers familiar with Harlan Coben's twisty thrillers, where few things turn out to be exactly what they seem, may be able to figure out one of the mysteries here, just by going with that gut feeling Coben implants and then tries to dissuade you from.that continues to work well in this entry, but other parts of the book don't.Surfing on a dating website, NYPD cop Kat Donovan is startled to come across a profile posted by a long-lost boyfriend, apparently using an alias. While she's still puzzling this out, she's contacted by a college student who insists his mother has gone off for a romantic weekend with LLB, but something isn't right.A suitably scary plot unfolds here, with extortion and murder oozing out of every pore. The problem is that there's a sub-plot, involving Donovan's search for the truth about the murder of her father, also a cop. And even Coben can't make these two lines mesh, nor can he bring everything to any kind of satisfying conclusion.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Disappointed, not near as interesting and entertaining as the Myron Bolitar series, which I love.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5What begins as glib conversation on dating and past relationships turn into a tense cyber crime investigation that gets personal for the NYPD detective. Some dialogues stretched a bit; overall good quick read with enough sub plots and twists to get me hooked.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Kat Donovan is a single cop, with no prospects for love on the horizon. Her one true love, Jeff left her eight-teen years ago. When her friend Stacey, sets up a profile for Kat, she is surprised when she sees Jeff's picture on the website...
When the man, who is convicted of murdering her father confesses to not killing her father...Kat begins to dig into the past and find the truth...
Brandon's mother has gone on a romantic getaway, except Brandon isn't believing it...and when he hacks into the dating site that his mother has been using, Kat and Brandon's worlds collide...and all is not what it seems... - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5terrific and spellbinding as usual.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Obviously this is an adult book that I was NOT reading in consideration for my middle school shelves! Bought it because it was one of those "buy two get a third book free" kind of deals and the blurb on the back hooked me. Kat's friend signs her up with an online dating service, and while Kat is looking through the photos, she sees the face of her ex-fiance who she hasn't seen in eighteen years, but still loves. When she reaches out to him, however, his response is uncharacteristically aloof, and he almost acts as if he doesn't remember her. No spoilers, but I only half predicted where it was going.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very hard to put down a Harlan Coben.NYPD Kat, has to solve who was the real killer of her father many years ago, vanishing women on an online dating site, and the reappearance of a long lost love.Unputdownable!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love Harlan Coben books, and this one was awesome. I couldn't put it down!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Harlan Coben is consistently good. "Missing You" just proves that he is one of the best contemporary mystery/suspense authors writing today. In his latest novel, Coben takes the modern phenomenon of Internet dating and puts one heck of a twist on it to build the storyline. "Missing You" is a cop drama, a murder mystery, and a delving into the mystery of the human spirit. I'm always impressed that Coben, a man, can write with such accuracy from a woman's point of view. Protagonist Kat Donovan is realistic and believable, her emotional motivations spot on. Twists and turns were plenty and kept me riveted; I could not put this book down. Bravo, Harlan Coben; I eagerly await your next novel.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Reads more like a screenplay than a novel. The pot and plot come to a full boil.Wonder if Jennifer Lawerence will play this Kat in the movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Ladies. If you are doing any kind on online dating, you may want to read this book. Or maybe not. This is a twisty, chilling tale spun by the master of suspense novels. I could not put this one down for fear of missing another moment of this delicious book. It also helps that I am a big fan of John Waite's "Missing You", which now I can't get out of my head. Buy this today and be ready to hunker down in your favorite chair, or on your favorite beach because you won't want to put it down.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5In her late 30s, police woman, Kat, follows up when her friend signs her up with an online dating service. Imagine her surprise when she finds her unrequited love on line with a different name! And then she gets a request to help a young man find his mother who also signed up with the same service. The plot and conclusion are very imaginative. A suspenseful read!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Harlan Coban has his finger on the pulse of pop culture and this time the subject is on-line dating sites: once the province of losers or predators, connecting this way has become main stream. NYPD detective Kat Donovan is reluctant at first, but when she finds a photograph of her ex-fiancé Jeff, who broke her heart and disappeared 18 years ago, she is intrigued. The only problem is he is using a different name and when she contacts him, does not seem to remember her… Then there’s Brandon, who comes to Kat when mother disappears – after connecting with ‘Jeff’ on the same dating site. And if that isn’t enough, the man who murdered Kat’s father 18 years ago is dying: the problem is, she’s sure he didn’t do it. Twists, turns, family secrets, romance, red herrings and murder are served with the dry humour and witty panache we expect from Coban in this edge-of-your-seat stand alone
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This novel was vintage Coben -- unpredictable plot, snappy dialogue, and believable characters. And, as always, he injects humor. His topics are current(in this case, on-line dating sites) as are his use of slang, pop culture, and technology. His books are not only entertaining but educational. The title itself, "Missing You," refers to a 80's song, and is a significant element in the storyline.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5(Spoilerish) A teenage boy, Brandon, goes to the police after hacking into the website his mother used to find romance. The detective, Kat, is skeptical that his mother is missing but gives it a quick look at while her attention is focused on the dying man in the hospital who killed her father, also a cop. While poking around on the dating website she sees her college sweetheart and attempts to make contact with him but he shuts her out as more suspicious facts become known Brandon and his mother. A little slow in the beginning but then it turns into a page turner with a very suspenseful ending.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Another great read from Harlan Coben! Kat, a NYPD detective is trying to find out who murdered her father 18 years ago. There are several plots going on at the same time and lots twits and turns.
