About this audiobook
Although the media track him constantly, Buffett himself has never told his full life story. His reality is private, especially by celebrity standards. Indeed, while the homespun persona that the public sees is true as far as it goes, it goes only so far. Warren Buffett is an array of paradoxes. He set out to prove that nice guys can finish first. Over the years he treated his investors as partners, acted as their steward, and championed honesty as an investor, CEO, board member, essayist, and speaker. At the same time he became the world's richest man, all from the modest Omaha headquarters of his company Berkshire Hathaway. None of this fits the term "simple."
When Alice Schroeder met Warren Buffett she was an insurance industry analyst and a gifted writer known for her keen perception and business acumen. Her writings on finance impressed him, and as she came to know him she realized that while much had been written on the subject of his investing style, no one had moved beyond that to explore his larger philosophy, which is bound up in a complex personality and the details of his life. Out of this came his decision to cooperate with her on the book about himself that he would never write.
Never before has Buffett spent countless hours responding to a writer's questions, talking, giving complete access to his wife, children, friends, and business associates-opening his files, recalling his childhood. It was an act of courage, as The Snowball makes immensely clear. Being human, his own life, like most lives, has been a mix of strengths and frailties. Yet notable though his wealth may be, Buffett's legacy will not be his ranking on the scorecard of wealth; it will be his principles and ideas that have enriched people's lives. This audiobook tells you why Warren Buffett is the most fascinating American success story of our time.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5fascinating. so many cultures, always some dying when in competition with technology of all kinds. religion really does kill a lot of cultures, leaving very little in its wake.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Warren is interisting but the voice actor ruins the book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book to read. In some points maybe it was bit too deep when it came to stories about other personas.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Inspirational and astonishing. Buffet, a respectable person, business man and philanthropist!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An excellent biography. Listened to it in just under a week and loved every minute. Warren Buffett is a business icon and learning how he accumulated his snowball of millions taught me a lot and left me wondering how I could apply his principles to my own life. The stories of his early days, forming the partnership with 7 investors and $105,000, saving Solomon from bankruptcy and disgrace, and eventually giving his money to the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation kept me rapt. Schroeder also did a great job of showing his quirks and blind spots, his family issues, pride, and sacrifice. Seeing those elements only added more value to the book and humanized this giant personality. I can’t wait to read more, and may well try to get to the Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders Meeting next year.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fantastic insight into the greatest investor of the world has every known.

He also understood the value of knowledge compounding. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The book describes everything most of us interested in money markets already know about him. Except, it reminds us that he is human like the rest of us. Relationship problems, life lessons, friendships, the love of family, the importance of recognizing market trends and most importantly patience.
