Think Mary, Kat, and Lillia have nothing left to lose? Think again. The fiery conclusion to the Burn for Burn trilogy from New York Times bestselling author of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (soon to be a major motion picture!), Jenny Han, and New York Times bestselling author of The List, Siobhan Vivian.

They only meant to right the wrongs. It was about getting even. Burn for burn.

But the fire they lit kept raging…Reeve ended up hurt, then Rennie ended up dead.

Everything will turn to ash if they don’t stop what they started. But now that Mary knows the truth about what happened to her, will she want to?

Secrets drew Lillia, Kat, and Mary together. The truth might tear them apart.

teen fiction (ghostbusting romance revenge). The ending was good, but hardly anything happened for the first 135 pages.

This is a great case to show why I usually will try something more than once before giving up on it for good. I previously tried to start this series, and I was just not in the mood for it. I ended up reading around 50% of the first book and did not finish it. I could not get into it or the high school cattiness. I own all three books and decided to give it one more try before giving it away. I am glad I did.I ended up enjoying this so much more than I was expecting. I liked learning more around each of our main characters and their stories. This does deal with some series issues such as drugs, bullying, suicide, and rape. I did not realize it was going to cover all of these topics when I gave up on it the first time. If you are struggling to get through the beginning, try to push through as it was worth it to me.I have seen so many people talk about this series, and do not remember anyone saying this deals with the paranormal. I was not sure what direction this was going to take with that, but it did not take the path I thought. Book three actually gets pretty dark. Overall, I am very happy that I gave this a second chance and binge read the series. It was pretty good.

It made a lot more sense when I found out this was book 3 of a series. There were things that were alluded to which must have been the topics of earlier installments in the series. Following Lillia, Cat, and Mary, this book explores senior year after their friend Rennie died in a car accident. I liked Cat's voice best, a salty tongued hard shelled girl with a good heart. Lillia starts a romance with the forbidden Reeve. Mary has discovered she is dead and feels the mission that will get her off island and out of the world is to haunt Reeve until he kills himself. Some of the characters are incredibly privileged.

The third and final book in this trilogy brings the story to a close. Lillia & Kat are left to put the pieces together and figure out how to deal with Mary and what they found out at the end of book two. Lillia truly falls for Reeve but feels guilty knowing that Rennie is dead and others won't agree with her being in a relationship with him (especially Mary). The girls work their way through and have challenges to face in order to make things right. Epilogue gives a glimpse into the future.
