About this audiobook
Bob Anderson, Darcy’s husband of more than twenty years, is away on one of his business trips, when his unsuspecting wife looks for batteries in the garage. Her toe knocks up against a box under a worktable and she discovers she doesn’t know her husband at all, but rather has been living with a stranger. This horrifying discovery, rendered with bristling intensity, could be the end of what Darcy though was a good marriage…

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I couldn’t make it through an hour. Love King. Everything he writes, I love. But this narrator is the absolute worst I have ever heard.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Thought I'd be diassappointed with it being short, but it was a perfect, complete tight little story. Enjoyed.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One hell of a good story. It just goes to show that there ain't much worse in the world than a damn meddling woman. The world would be a better place if everybody just minded their own business.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Definitely a short story. Entertaining enough. I felt the narrator made the main character, Darcy, appear or sound too "ditzy" or air-headed. Otherwise it was a quick easy listen.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5short, but very good plot. good twist of the story, i was expecting the husband to be a killer, but i wasn’t expecting to hear his motives. the way the wife acted after she heard the news, chef’s kiss. good end of the situation. overall, amazing.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5amazing, the tension, the suspense was engulfing ,Stephen King never lets down.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Nicely read and the story was nicely tied up in the end. Fun little read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent, spooky little read.
It moves briskly, the pacing is tight, and it comes full-circle with a really satisfying ending.
For such a short read, it's a great novella. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good story. Well read. Nice to go through a book of SK’s without political commentary.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Omg the narrator is horrendous, good story but I don't understand why she read this book as if it were a infomercial
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It was ok. I had to listen in small batches because the narrators voice was so grating.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Boring and narrators voice was annoying. It was not my favorite.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The narrators voice broke the story. Terribly affected performance—very theater-kid and breathy.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great listen, nice twists and turns. Seems pulling off the perfect murder can be fun
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was so good! The King still has it :)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I stayed up all night reading it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Reader was so perfect! Kind of a slow beginning, but picked up later. Some nice King touches throughout!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good story but I really don't think you could have been as oblivious as Darcy was about Bob's real character, of course that was sort of part of the plot. I did like how the story ended as I am a sucker for everything being tied up at the end of a story. It is a short story and the narration was really unique in a way. The woman who narrated reminded me of the actress who plays Annie on the TV Series Castle Rock. Worth a listen.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Not sure where all of the high ratings came from on this one..
Having read king for decades and drag off of reading salems lot… WHY in 2010 why is the wife still wearing a housecoat?!? 50s, 60s, 70s and maybe even venturing into the 80s, but now, really?
It’s a silly fixation but it lends itself to how poorly kings writes female characters. Ironically the wife here was far more 1950s that the woman in salems lot (written in the 60s).
The character is so painfully ignorant and naive that I spent more time wanting to strangle her than I did wanting to know how the story turned out.
Narration is ok but she has an interesting inflection that will turn a lot of listeners off. 30 seconds into listening I had to look her up because I recognized her voice- she’s an actress who plays Susan on friends and Gretchen on breaking bad. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Narrator Jessica Hecht’s voice almost ruined a great story
Worth reading! - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was good but rather straightforward, not as many twists and turns as I’ve grown accustomed to with a Stephen king novel
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Saw the movie first. Both are good. Thnx for the listen
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The voice actress did an amazing job voicing different characters and putting such feeling into the story. I am a Stephen King fan, but I don't always have time to sit and read so the Audio book allowed me to multitask. This is a great story....I love how King has such relatable characters and situations to make the reader ponder the dilemma if it occurred in their own lives.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was so very well narrated. Such a sad story and I think the narration had much to do with connecting to the characters.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really enjoyed this one. Very descriptive and not too long.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A good mystery and satisfying ending , plus didn’t take forever
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Really good book, Stephen King is one of my favorite authors.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The narrator is absolutely terrible. The storyline is very predictable. Not for me but maybe for others
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A really good story without monsters or Terror but as always really really amazing
