About this audiobook
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover, comes the second book in a combustible new series, Welcome to the Point, that is sexier, darker, and better than ever.
There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who is bad. . . . Welcome to the Point.
In a dark and broken kingdom, a ruler has be fearless to control the streets and the ruthless people who run them. Race Hartman is just bold enough, just smart enough, and just lost enough to wear the crown. Places like The Point will always have bad things and bad people, but the man in control of all that badness can minimize the devastation. Race has a plan, but can he prevent total annihilation without destroying himself?
Brysen Carter has always seen the real Race—a guy too pretty, too smooth, and way too dangerous. Basking in his golden glow is very tempting, but Brysen knows she’ll eventually get burned. She has enough problems without the risky danger and mayhem that comes with a guy like Race. Too bad Brysen faces a threat close to home that might be more dangerous than anything The Point has ever produced.. And the only person interested in keeping her safe is the one man she can’t allow herself to have.
Sometimes being bold is the only way to stay alive. But can she let Race save her life . . . if it means losing herself to him?

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I try really hard not to get consumed by book series. But unfortunately, if the first book was good, I fall every time. Better When He’s Bold was just as good as Better When He’s Bad. I loved the story, the characters, the chemistry. I loved it all.
Just like the first book the very first chapter have me hooked. I connected to Brysen right away. To start, her story and character seems simple, but as the story progressed, her character started to become more complex. We already knew a bit about Race, and he was everything I had hoped he would be as star of this story. Bax and Dovey made some appearances and to stay true to their book, they were pretty bad ass in book two.
My only qualm with the book was actually the narration. The narrator for Race, did not fit with the Character. While I liked the narrator for Brysen, she made Dovey sound like a vapid valley girl, and I hated it. But, Dovey wasn’t a main character, so I didn’t have to “hear” it often. Overall, great book. I’m sure I would have loved it even more if I had read it it, since I didn’t like the narration, but book three, Better When He’s Brave comes out in August and I…can…not…wait!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Better When He’s Bold…I don’t know how, but Jay Crownover has created another brilliant book, but she has far succeeded expectations. (At least for me, that is.)I definitely wasn’t for sure if this book would be able to compete with any of the other books in Jay’s series. I mean Better When He’s Bad was pretty freakin’ amazing, and I didn’t totally like Race as a character in that book. He seemed too out of his element and kind of a side character trying to pull all the strings without truly succeeding. But then I opened the book. And I fell in love.Brysen is a character that kind of reminded me of Shay in the Marked Men Series. She had this outer shell that put off this unattainable, socialite image that didn’t want to dirty her hands with the Point. At first glance, she was superficial and had never experienced any sort of hardship. Then I got to see under the picture perfect image. Brysen was actually the girl that had too much on her shoulders and was struggling to not only keep her family together, but also her own head afloat. Add in a little sister to try and protect and a seemingly dangerous stalker obsessed with her, Brysen definitely isn’t the image she presents to the world, or to Race.Speaking of Race, *swoon*. He portrays the “bad guy”, but only because he tries to rule the Point. There is such a reversal of roles in this series as those you expect to be “bad” are really the ones trying to save others (for the most part, some people are just s.o.l.). Then you have the people from the other side of the tracks, the supposedly “good” ones, or in other words, the ones that are rich enough to hide all their secrets behind money (a.k.a. Race’s father… It’s almost like a Luke Skywalker kind of thing with Darth Vader). Now in the first book, Race wasn’t my favorite person. He seemed like he was trying to control people behind the scenes and be this “evil mastermind”. Yet in this book, I got to see a side of Race that I didn’t expect and kind of grew to love.To make it short: Together they were PERF!So many things happened in this book that I really didn’t expect… This book surprised me at every turn and this is one of the few reasons this book deserved all FIVE stars. This book is too amazing to pass up, so go and check it out asap!side note: I would definitely read this series in order :)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/54.5 "Be My Queen" Stars! Loved it! Jay Crownover is a master at building multidimensional characters in a multifaceted world! Like in the real world, the characters in the fictional community of The Point (the stereotypical hood) and The Hill (the upper class suburbs), are neither all good nor bad, but instead lie somewhere in between, constantly straddling societal conventions to define who they truly are. This love story was real, raw and "bold," and had me on the edge of my seat, with my heart in my throat, constantly rooting for the safe haven that only true love can provide! We commence this book at a pivotal time at The Point. Bax's father, the evil ruling mobster, has been taken down by Race and Bax and new leadership is swarming to take control. Race, greatly aided by his right-hand man Bax, is at the top of that heap, trying to determine how to assume the role as the King of the Point without becoming everything they fought to take down. Race, however, is a smart man, and a bold one at that, and is quick to come to terms with the reality that there will always be bad in places like the Point, but as it's ruler he can make sure that the badness doesn't spiral out of control. So he makes alliances, and has to do things, that threaten his very nature. Can he manage to save The Point without selling his soul to the devil? Into this chaotic world, enters Brysen, Race's sister's best friend. Brysen really doesn't fit in either The Point or The Hill. Symbolically raised right at the bottom of The Hill, where The Hill meets The Point, she straddles both worlds, but is accepted by neither. Not a good place to be, but she seems to handle it as best she can, and is even the anchor that tries to keep her family together, until her parents' action combine to lead them into danger that she can no longer handle.Race steps right in, and decides to take on Brysen's plight as her own self-appointed protector. Soon the sparks start to fly, but can there possibly be a future for two people who live in such different parts of the societal strata? Once the dust settles, will their chemistry be enough to overcome society's prejudices and stereotypes?Race is another yummy alpha hero. I loved his fierce determination to protect what he considers his own. There were also some hot, passionate scenes and the romance and suspense were both well developed. All in all, Ms. Crownover has produced another hit! I love Ms. Crownover's characters and how they struggle with very real societal issues and pressures. Although Ms. Crownover's heroes in Welcome to the Point seem hard and dangerous on the outside, they nonetheless always in the end find the sole remaining soft spots in their hearts for the women they can't help but love. The next story should be an interesting change of pace, as the hero will be Bax's brother, Titus, a police officer. So for the first time, we will get to see how Ms. Crownover handles the societal pressures from the other side of the law, a good guy struggling with when a little bad is actually good for the world. I can't wait to read Titus' story in Better When He's Brave scheduled to be released in August.Source: Review copy provided in exchange for an honest review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Race is the ultimate bad boy. He steals, he cheats, and he is always looking for ways to get ahead in the Point, filled with criminals and bad guys. Race revels in being one of the baddest of the bad. Considered almost royalty in the Point by his association with the other criminal element, Race loves only his sister and barely tolerates Bax, his childhood friend and almost brother in law. Brysen is as opposite from Race as you can be. She’s trying to go to school, attempting to take care of her little sister and dealing with her Mother’s health issues...all while trying to be a normal twenty something. When someone begins threatening Brysen at work, Race steps in and sparks explode between the two. Is Brysen ready to take on all that is Race and be his Queen of the Point or will she fear for the future? Jay Crownover is one of my favorite authors. She can write the absolute worst characters that you don’t think can be redeemed..and she makes them totally redeemable. At the end of the previous book, you hate Race. Seriously. He’s this egomaniac with a devil may care attitude. Yet, the minute Brysen needs him to be her knight, he steps up to the plate. He becomes the man that Brysen needs and I absolutely fell in love with him. Hot and captivating, Better When He’s Bold is my newest favorite Crownover book. She brings two wildly different characters and gives them the perfect story. Entertaining and super sexy, Crownover can bring the naughty unlike anyone else. A great story that only brings you closer to the edge, I can’t wait to read Better When He’s Brave, coming in June 2015!
