About this audiobook

Nicolas Fox is a charming con man and master thief on the run. Kate O'Hare is the FBI agent who is hot on his trail. At least that's what everyone thinks. In reality, Fox and O'Hare are secretly working together to bring down super-criminals the law can't touch. Criminals like brutal casino magnate Evan Trace.

Evan Trace is running a money-laundering operation through his casino in Macau. Some of his best customers are mobsters, dictators, and global terrorists. Nick and Kate will have to go deep undercover as high-stakes gamblers, wagering millions of dollars-and their lives-in an attempt to topple Trace's empire.

It's a scam that will take Fox and O'Hare from the Las Vegas strip, to the sun-soaked beaches of Oahu's North Shore, and into the dark back alleys of Macau. Their only backup-a self-absorbed actor, a Somali pirate, and Kate's father, an ex-soldier who believes a rocket launcher is the best way to solve every problem. What could possibly go wrong?

This is the fourth book in the Fox and O'Hare series which focuses on FBI agent Kate O'Hare and criminal Nick Fox who was released from prison in exchange for helping the FBI. Each book in this series seems to get better and better. Their relationship, which Kate says she wants to keep professional, is teetering closer and closer to the edge, with Nick becoming more open in his pursuit.

In this book Kate and Nick are supposed to trap and arrest a criminal casino owner who uses his casinos to launder money. All the usual crew of misfits, including Kate's dad, come together to pull off the biggest scam yet and hopefully wipe out not just one but two bad guys. This story takes place in Hawaii, Macau and LasVegas with lots of luxury travel along the way.

I love this series. It has great chemistry, lots of action, a charming hero, and a woman who totally kicks butt and is proud of it. All the quirky secondary characters just make the story even more interesting. Just when I got happy about the ending, however, the authors threw in a bit of a curve ball. The next book better come out soon!!

Thank you Netgalley for an opportunity to read and review this book before publication.

A special thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Being a Stephanie Plum fan, I was really looking forward to reading this book. Okay, so I didn't read the others in the series, but have since skimmed through them. This series is a bit of a train wreck... Evanovich's previous series were a breeze to read and so much fun! Not this book/series. We all need mindless reads from time to time, which is what I thought when I picked this book for review. This really didn't work for me, is it because it is co-authored? Is it because she takes some potshots at Canadians? Maybe. I think I will stick with books in my usual vein and leave the Evanovich series alone - my reading list is far too long to to waste my time on a mediocre at best book.

I had not read any of the other books in this Evanovich series and had just finished one of her books in another series and was disappointed, so my expectations were low.And I was wrong.Let me just say first though that I HATE this thing with famous authors "co-writing" a book with another author. The famous writer's name in giant print and then, below, in much smaller type, the co-writer. So what exactly is each writer's input? Really off putting. But that being said, this book and I assume the rest of the series, was quite enjoyable. Good characters, lots of witty banter, a quick moving, clever plot, a few laugh out loud moments.

I enjoyed the Evanovich/Goldberg offering "The Scam." FBI agent Kate O'Hare and charming con man Nick Fox are again teamed up to con, cajole, and capture a money-laundering casino operator. The book was fun - fast paced with its usual humor and touch of 'The Sting.' And perhaps the 'usual' aspect is becoming a bit of a problem. Fun though it is, it's too much same old same old.The characters are likable. The dialogue is witty. I even laughed aloud more than once. But it's all just another version of the Kate-Nick story.

The scam by Janet Evanovich, Lee Goldberg Kate and Nick are on the trail to find others that can't be caught through a regular source.Travel and more cases come up along with finding out who blew up her father's friends trucks in HI.Liked hearing about all the technology they use to physically catch the bad guys in the jungle and on the gambling tables.Others think they need to make the next time and spend more quality time together-in bed.Like how it ends, didn't see that coming. First book I've ever read from this author.

A cotton candy confection. Not a lot of substance but a lot of fun. I particularly liked the ending which sets up the sequel very nicely.

A very fun and breezy read, focused mainly on a smart and sexy FBI agent (Kate) and a charming and handsome criminal who team up (covertly) to put down other bad criminals. Lots of plotting and replotting, as well as a funny set of additional characters. The writing and storytelling are solid, and readers can easily breeze through the book in a couple of sittings. A fun enough adventure that I plan to read the other novels in this Fox and O'Hare series.

Janet Evanovich has done it again. If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. Action, adventure, sexual tension, and the ultimate con. I was hooked from page 1. The characters are great and unique. I greatly look forward to the next installment of this series.

Quick enjoyable book. I was surprised Early Reviewer offered one of Evanovich's work. Some delightfully quirky characters (a la Janet) with varied backgrounds who come together to pull off a scam on scammers. The ending strongly suggests a sequel. I would recommend to someone looking for entertainment and a short read.

Synopsis: Nick Fox and Kate O'Hare are back together again and this time they are after a crook who is using his casino to launder money. Kate's dad, Jake, is adding his explosive talents to their adventure and enjoying every minute of the danger. From Las Vegas to Macau to Oahu, danger and excitement travel along with the group.Review: While the story wasn't quite as involving as the previous Fox and O'Hare tales, it was still a good read with some very entertaining sections. This one has a cliff-hanger ending that does what it's supposed to do - leave the reader wanting more.

The authorities release a con artist Nicolas Fox from prison to help them run their own con with the leadership of FBI agent Kate O'Hare. Remember the movie "The Sting" with a little bit of James Bond throw in, this tells the story.

I really enjoy the Fox and O-Hare stories. Clever writing, quick pacing and well-described interaction between the main characters. An interesting premise where an FBI agent and a man on many most-wanted lists team together to catch other criminals. A little like the "White Collar" TV series, without being confined to the radius of an ankle bracelet.

The Scam, well sorry to say but the title is close to right. I loved the Stephanie Plum books. They made me laugh all the silly things, that could happen and did, with Morelli, Ranger, and Lula. Those were great fun and had enough entertainment to keep pulling me in and buying the next book. This series is just not as interesting or entretaining. Thanks for the read but I don't think I will be following this one.

Read "The Scam" about scamming a money laundering system. It had several exciting parts, but overall I was disappointed in the story line. Didn't think it came up to Janet Evanovich normal level. It did leave an opening for a follow up book, which is good. I will keep reading Evanovich books however.

Nick and Kate are after a crooked casino magnate and a Yakuza connected Hawaiian gangster. After many twists and turns of an improbable plot the two bad guys are brought to justice. A sequel is in the offing as Nick disappears after the caper.

I was fortunate to win an Early Reviewers copy of The Scam. This is the first Fox and O'Hare novel that I've read. What fun! The Scam is a light madcap caper with fun personalities including Kate's dad who likes to set explosives. If you're looking for a quick and fun read then The Scam is the book for you.

This book is a light, enjoyable romp across some exotic locations in an effort to take down some money laundering operations. Kate is an undercover FBI agent and her partner in crime is a thief. While the series is enjoyable, it isn't as laugh-out-loud funny like the Plum series, which remains my favorite from Ms. Evanovich.

When someone launders your money do they also iron and starch it? Why yes, I am a dad, why do you ask?

Nick Fox and Kate O'Hare are once again using Nick's talents as a conman to take down criminals on the FBI's list of bad guys. This time they are after a casino owner who is helping launder money for anyone from mobsters to terrorists. Given the company he keeps, is it any surprise he has a tank of piranha in his office for 'negotiations'.

After being disappointed in the second instalment in this series, The Chase, I was unsure if I would read any more of the Evanovich and Goldberg series. I already had The Scam on loan from the library, so I decided to chance it. This was a rewarding decision as The Scam delivers an entertaining read.

I was disappointed with The Chase because it felt like an episode from one of those will-they-won't-they crime shows - such as Castle or Bones - during their declining years. You know, just as they are lining up the ramp over the shark cage. But The Scam felt like an early episode at the beginning of the series when Castle or Bones are still awesome, even though there are plot elements here that set this firmly later in the series (can't say more without major spoilers).

So skip The Chase and read The Scam.

Received as an LT Early Reviewer read.Cute premise, with a con-artist/thief partnered under duress with a straight-laced agent. Sparks and explosions ensue. Not exactly a new premise, and it felt a bit forced at times, but I'd borrow a sequel from the library. Not up to Stephanie Plum par, though.

Kate O'Hare, a FBI agent and her super intelligent con man, Nick Fox are teamed up to special assignments like trapping elusive big time criminals in the casino business. They are after Evan Trace who has a casino In Macau. Trace is a money laundering kingpin for all sorts of criminals and dictators. The team pose as big gambling whales. They start off in Hawaii, go to Las Vegas and Macau. I liked the different changes of scenery but could not swallow some of the details. Part of the story involved an adaptation of Charles Dicken's Great Expectation but involved Mr. Potato Head. Although I loved playing with Potato Head when was young my imagination refused to stretch that far. As soon as I tried to imagine that my interest went down hill. There were some laugh out loud lines and I really enjoyed travelling to Macau but it just did not seem as good as it could have been.Kate's dad was great but Mr. Potato Head sunk this book. I think I like Janet Evanovitch better as a solo writer.

I absolutely love this series. The Scam is book number four in the Fox and O'Hare series and I can't wait for more, especially with the huge cliff-hanger at the end of this one. Already being a huge Evanovich fan from the Stephanie Plum series, I feel that Kate is exactly how kick ass Stephanie should be after twenty-one books in that series. Kate is smart, sexy and a regular Jane all rolled into one brilliant package. Add to that the rich, handsome and devilish Nick Fox and you have my new favorite fictional couple. Move over Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall and Rourke and Eve Dallas. My Recommendation: This series is over the top fun and I recommend it for anyone who loves silly romantic thrillers.

A very fast paced read with fast paced action. Although at times it can get a little confusing, it is still a great book.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a strong female character. It mixes humor and real situations, with almost unbelievable actions and outcomes. Any fan of Janet Evanovich's, Stephanie Plum series will enjoy this book.

This is another great installment in a fun series. Again it provides interesting plots, lots of action and humor, globe-trotting, and a collection of fun supporting characters. And some sweet sexual tension between the two main characters. Yep, The Scam has all of the above. This time, Nick & Kate pursue their prey from Vegas to Hawaii to Macau. As usual, some plot points that require a bit of suspension of disbelief, but hey - that's what makes these books so much fun for me. And this one ended with a cliff-hanger that left me anxious to get on to the next one. When I'm in need of some light, fun reading, they're pretty much the perfect solution.

The Scam is a book about a lot of scams that Fox and O'Hare control. The book leaves the reader hanging on the disappearance of Fox. This is annoying that the author felt she had to stoop so low in order to guarantee the reader to acquire the next book. Because of this tactic the book was only given three stars even though it was a good story.

The Scam, the fourth book in the Fox and O’Hare Series by Janet Ivanovich and Lee Goldberg, is a great addition to the series and I think it is the one I like best. Kate and Nicolas are unlikely partners in a scam to take down a money laundering operation in Vegas as well as put a dent into the Yakuza in Macau.Even though this is a series and the books are sequential, you can read this with out reading the other books but it will not be as rich an experience as it would be if you read the others and in order. The authors lay out the story in such a way that you will not feel lost and you will feel like you are right there with them, with the amazing story line and amusing and interesting repartee. If you like books that will take you on a ride with changes in the story line you will not expect, then this is the series for you.

If you haven’t read any of the Fox and O’Hare stories, then you don’t know what you are missing. These enjoyable escapist novels are just fun. Kate O’Hare is a FBI agent who is tracking Nicholas Fox, an international criminal but not really. She and he team up to capture more despicable criminals. This one involves a casino owner who is laundering money through his casino in Japan, with plans on building a new casino in Las Vegas. With a cast of characters with specific skills, they set up a sting to bring the enterprise down. It doesn’t work they want it to, but it is certainly fun reading how these two get through their adventures. Fun, exciting, captivating are a few of the adjectives I use for this story. Downside, is that ended with a cliffhanger and I don’t know if I can wait for the next installment of this series!
