About this audiobook

After two decades protecting innocent victims on the run, and a year after getting shot on a job that took a dangerous turn for the worse, Jane McKinnon, nee Whitefield, has settled into the quiet life of a suburban housewife in Amherst, New York-or so she thinks.

One morning as she comes back from a long run, Jane is met by an unusual sight: all eight clan mothers, the female leaders of the Seneca clans, parked in her driveway in two black cars. A childhood friend of Jane's from the reservation, Jimmy, is wanted by the police for the murder of a local white man. But instead of turning himself in, he's fled, and no one knows where he is hiding out. At the clan mothers' request, Jane retraces a walking trip she and Jimmy took together when they were fourteen in hopes that he has gone the same way again. But it soon becomes clear that the police aren't the only ones after him. As the chase intensifies, the number of people caught up in this twisted plot multiplies, and Jane is the only one who can protect those endangered by it. A String of Beads is an addictive, fast-paced thriller about how abandoning the past can sometimes be the hardest thing to do, even when your life-and the life of those you love-depends on it.

Another excellent installment in the Jane Whitefield series. The eight clan Mothers come to Jane for help. A childhood friend of hers is in serious trouble and needs her kind of help. This is one of my favorite series discovered when I bought a copy of The Left-Handed Twin, not knowing it was book 9! It was so amazing that I tracked down the first 8. Every one has been excellent! Highly recommended series!

Jane Whitfield returns home from a run to find the eight clan mothers waiting for her. They know that she makes people being pursued disappear to a new life. A Seneca boy is in trouble and the ask for Janes help. The boy was accosted leaving a bar. The man swung at Jimmy and missed. Jimmy knocked the man down and left. Days later the man was murdered. Since Jimmy had trouble with the man, the police want to talk to him. Jane did what she does best. She took Jimmy away until things settled down. In this thrilling story, Jane also comes up against the Mafia. Can Jane keep Jimmy and herself alive until all the questions are answered? Another great read from this excellent series.

The Bottom Line or TweetAverage story raised up by the initial clients.Plot or PremiseJane is asked by the elders of her tribe to find an innocent man charged with murder, and to help him until things are cleared up..What I LikedThe introduction of the elders was a great development, and showed that Jane's work has not gone unnoticed by the clans. They not only are aware of it, they approve and ask her to put her skills to use with another member, a childhood friend of Jane's. .What I Didn't LikeThe secondary character's didn't work that well for me…a woman whose story reads like a bad rape fantasy, a cop who happens to be an expert tracker and who happens to follow her despite having no idea who she is or any evidence he sees her, and some crooks who are okay, but not compelling..DisclosureI received no compensation, not even a free copy, in exchange for this review. I am not personal friends with the author, nor do I follow him / her on social media.

Another book in this marvelous series. The action is as exciting as ever, and the descriptions of the Seneca elders, women whose authority stretches back for generations, fit perfectly with the powerful female lead.

Another very good book in this excellent series. Jane takes on the Mafia as she sets out on a quest given by the Seneca Tribal elders. Good story, great characters and sufficient action; enough to make it more of a thriller than a mystery. Perry's current California address does not inhibit his Tonawanda origins and knowledge of Senacan lore and legends as this story's setting stays true to Jane's world.
