A story (set in the early 1900s) that could be read as a stand alone, but I highly encourage you to read it in the series order as you will get to know all the characters so much better (and they are all good stories). This story was about Grace Knutson, a young lady who has been deaf since birth and who loves her family and home in Blessing, North Dakota. She is a twin, and looked upon as always being there to help people. The young man she thought she loved secretly has shared with her his love for someone else. So Grace takes an offer by Jonathan Gould (a wealthy New York young man) to come and check out the deaf school in New York. Grace goes with a broken heart, but soon discovers that maybe her heart is healing and Jonathan is the one helping her to heal.I enjoyed Grace and her "spunk" and her willingness to leave all she is familiar with and travel to New York City. I also enjoyed Jonathan and his tender heart towards Grace. These stories seem very real and show the struggles and heartaches of more of the folks I have come to love from Blessing.

Quite enjoyed the story on this one. Interesting having a deaf character for a change. One might think this would make for a boring read, but it was quite well carried out, and did not really make the character boring at all. Only thing I did not care for was the ending. It was a bit too. . .'things will work out in the future' instead of wrapping up nicely now. :) But thats a matter of style, I guess.

Great continuation of the Norwegian family, the Bjorklands, that settled in South Dakota. Grace, Kaaren's daughter, who is deaf and helps teach the young, deaf children in her mom's classes - is feeling lonely and feels rejected by the young man that she thinks she's in love with.
