This is the second story in this series where the author takes a Shakespeare play and very subtly writes an Amish story around it. This story was a modern day Romeo and Juliet type story. The Cramers and the Mosier families have been angry with each other for a very long time. Most people don't even know why anymore. So when Addie Cramer falls for Jonathan Mosier, the parents fight them every step of the way. Addie's parents want Addie to marry uninspiring Phillip Eicher and want Jonathan to leave the area. These two must find out how to reconcile their two families. Digging into the past though will unveil some long-held secrets, but finally give them a chance at happiness.I liked both Addie and Jonathan in this story. Their families on the other hand were not were fun to be around. I didn't figure out all the secrets though until near the end of this story. This can be read as a stand alone, but you do encounter people from the other stories in this one as it is a small Amish community where everyone knows everyone else and are a close community.

People tend to think that the Amish lead happy, if somewhat backward, lives. They shun the world of technology and frivolous pastimes for a plain lifestyle. They put God first and always strive to do what’s right and pure and holy. Or do they? In this Amish tale of love and woe, author Leslie Gould gives a different look at an Amish family – one that is less than forthright and who are less kind to each other. A family in which a long held grudge separates two young adults, simply because they have the wrong last names. Addie and Jonathan try to settle the feud and repair the damage that was done a generation ago, but to no avail. A long-buried secret is at the root of all the despair, but will uncovering it help or hurt? A very thoughtful story, it may alter a bit the way you perceive the Amish.

This is the second book in the series and like the first I loved it and it frustrated me at the same time.

There was a lot of reference to Cate from the first book but in a random way.

Addie is the only girl in her family and is being promised to Phillip, Addie doesn't want to marry Phillip, she falls in love at first sight with Jonathan. Jonathan and Addie families have had a feud going to for years and years .

Not my favorite Amish fiction book...I found "Adoring Addie" to be a bit disappointing. It's the first time I've read Leslie Gould's work and, sadly, this book did not make me want to rush out for more of her books. The story was slow moving, especially in the beginning. When things picked up, it went too fast and seemed rushed. The premise of a "feud" among Amish families was a bit unbelievable, too. This is not the way the Amish conduct themselves. I've lived my entire life in PA Dutch country, and just could not relate to the characters or the plot. This is the second book in The Courtships of Lancaster County. I've read some positive reviews about the first book in the series, but this one just didn't hold my interest. I received "Adoring Addie" from Bethany House as part of their early reviewers program. I appreciate the opportunity to share my opinion. I wish I could have given this book a better rating, but it simply was not the best I've read.
