- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What an inspiration! Ms. Steinem shows us through the path that she blazed there is a way forward. So far to go before we sleep.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved it! What an interesting life Gloria has lived.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Honestly listening to the audiobook was a challenge that I was determined to accomplish. At times it was hard to listen to and I wasn't sure why the author told some of the included anecdotes but later I understood how it tied together. It was a great tale of a woman who has given so much and whose legacy will not be forgotten.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I thought this book was exceptional at explaining how any woman can become an activist, even in small ways. Whenever I read about Gloria Steinem, I always imagined that her path would be difficult to follow - it is not. The concept of "talking circles" is so simple and effective that any group of women gathering to talk in earnest about their issues could light a small flame... And who knows to where that could lead?
I'm giving this book five stars because it shows, step by step, the making of Steinem's career and I honestly do find it inspiring because it is not a one-of-a-kind story with extraordinary circumstances. Sure, I cannot particularly relate to every aspect of her life, but I do believe that any one of us who is truly interested in gender equality could take many things from this book, Steinem's journey and the people she has met along the way.
Although I didn't prefer the somewhat monotonous tone of Debra Winger, it does sound similar to Steinem's read introduction, so I guess I'll let that one go.
