      An intense thriller that makes you think, “What would I do!?” I had seen the movie and thought I’d give the book a try. I wasn’t disappointed one bit!

      It is the book I liked the least by Stephen King. The first few chapters are utterly boring and the fear that one would expect in a King's book, never really emerges.

      I thought it was great until I listened to the audiobook and realized that the story was great on Netflix but the book is AMAZING, you get in the characters the way he always takes us... incredible travel in this story... I love he’s reading us his story

      Brutal! There are definite triggers for any victims of rape or incest, so that should be clear before going in. It just makes you so uncomfortable. Some of the descriptions had me ready to vomit and pass out, so to some that is an endorsement and others may find it turns them off to the book. I can't understand how he turned this idea into a full length novel. To most writers the main idea of this story would be a short story at best, but he was able to make something full length and extraordinary out of it.

      Mr.King has a way with words. His vivid and grotesque writing really elevate this concept into something that actually works as a full length novel, and that’s saying something. Not the strongest in Kings ouvre, but definitely worth a go round. Some genuinely scary stuff happens here.
      Points also to Lindsay Crouse for excellent narration.

      the concept of this book in itself is creepy enough, however i didnt quite understand throwing in past memories, multiple personalities, AND a boogyman. I guess youd have to give the story something else to keep it interesting but I think it was still far too much AND slow goings at that

      If you’re expecting a great story like The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon or The Outsider, you’re going to be disappointed. It is worth a read but not his best and whatever you do don’t listen to the audiobook. Or at least, listen to a sample first. The author’s voice was fine most of the time but there times where her voice was like nails on a chalkboard to me. Additionally, they had strange and annoying music sounds at various times throughout the book. This was a distraction and not a welcome one for me.
