- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was so weird to read knowing what becomes of the many characters in Esslemont and Erikson's previous series. That aside, it was a good read. It's well paced, good action, and nice twists, with an excellent view at the origins of many of the characters who will play a role in forming or opposing the Malazan Empire.
