About this audiobook
Nell is twenty-six and has never been to Paris. She's never even been on a romantic weekend away-to anywhere-before. Traveling abroad isn't really her thing. But when Nell's boyfriend fails to show up for their mini-vacation, she has the opportunity to prove everyone-including herself-wrong. Alone in Paris, Nell finds a version of herself she never knew existed: independent and intrepid. Could this turn out to be the most adventurous weekend of her life? Funny, charming, and irresistible, Paris for One is vintage Moyes--as are the other stories that round out the collection.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What a wonderful book of short stories, some make you laugh and some make you say "take that". Now I see Jojo Moyes has announced the third book of Louisa Clark spring of 2018!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Simply wonderful, delightful, and some humorous short stories. Quick read; enjoyed it very much.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The title novella tells the story of a woman stood up by her boyfriend after she has bought him a ticket to join her for a romantic getaway in Paris. Feeling like a betrayed loser, she overcomes her usual fear of anything new or out-of-the-ordinary and discovers romance and a different self during the long weekend that began so ignominiously. The shorter stories are less rounded out, some with satisfying twists, but just as engaging.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I am sad to report but I was not a huge fan of most of the stories in this collection. Although, the first three stories were not bad. The first one, Paris for One was more of a full length story. I really got into the story and Nell. She may not have planned to go to Paris alone but Nell really did discover herself and what she is capable of. Experiencing Paris through Nell's eyes was nice. A good happy ending. Than there is Between the Tweets. Which at first I was not sure about this short story but as the storyline played out I was into it. The ending was a shocker. What I liked about Love in the Afternoon was that it showed you that love does not have to happen just at night or in the morning. A quickie in the afternoon is just fine. Also, the right pair of high heels does not hurt. The other stories while not bad just were not as memorable.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A little collection of stories, which seemed to me to have the theme of women with the wrong man or the not so great man. A light read, especially for a woman with the right man. From the publisher:From the #1 "New York Times" bestselling author of "Me Before You" and "After You," a sensational collection featuring the title novella and eight other stories. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The first and longest story in this book is about mousy and predictable Nell who think she is about to embark on a romantic trip to Paris with her boyfriend who cancels at the last second. Since the room is booked and the tickets paid Nell does the first impulsive thing in her life and she goes on the trip with out him. It is as life changing as you would imagine a trip to the City of Light would be. The others stories in the book generally involve middle aged women in long term relationships who have grown bored. The relationships get a second wind by seemingly random things happening like wearing Louboutin shoes, bumping into an ex lover, or finding another woman's cell phone. Jojo Moyes perfectly captures how you can take each other for granted if you aren't careful.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was an interesting book of short stories by a fantastic author. The first story Paris for One is the length of a novella and the additional 8 are short stories. As with any short story collection, there were some that I really liked and others not so much. Instead of being all about 'happily ever after', these stories were a more realistic portrayal of life -- some had happy endings and some didn't but they were all about women and how they handled their lives and their marriages. My favorite was Paris for One. Nell, a shy English girl, plans her first trip to Paris with her boyfriend - who doesn't show up. Nell can either take the first train back home, stay in her hotel or go out and experience Paris. Her choices completely change her life and she is a different person at the end of the story.Read these short stories if you'd like a glimpse of the author's wonderful writing and then order one of her novels to find the wonderful characters she creates.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved all the stories and the audio, read by a few different people was terrific.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A compilation of short stories that will keep your mind buzzing.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Usually I eschew short stories, because there is not enough time to develop the characters enough so they feel real to me. But Moyes has a knack for making her characters come to life instantly, whether in story form or novel. Her dialogue rings so true, and the emotions of her characters are so clear, that I always feel like I “know” them right away.“Paris for One” was the longest story, and it was also my favorite. Nell Simmons is set for a disastrous weekend in Paris that turns out to be the romantic getaway of a lifetime. All of the endings, though, except perhaps “Between the Tweets,” were wonderful. “Between the Tweets,” while not necessarily a “happy” ending, was a delight for the reader in any event. And most seemed like they could be developed at a later time into full length books, such as “The Christmas List.” This was not because they didn’t “end,” but because the characters and plots were so appealing, one wanted to hear more about them.
