About this audiobook

When Katrina Haynes discovers a large man lying wounded in the snow, she fears he is at death's door. But as Kat tends to his injuries, she quickly realizes that they're the least of her worries. With an irresistible Scottish brogue and a strange ability to harden his chiseled body like a statue, the stranger awakens a desire she is unable to resist-and a fascination about the intriguing world he exists in.

As a proud Gargoyle, Ahnvil must safeguard the Nightwalker to whom he's sworn fealty. But as this bewitching woman nurses him back to health, arousing an almost uncontrollable hunger within him, he is possessed with the fierce impulse to protect her as well. And he will have to shield her-for by coming to his rescue, Kat has placed herself in the middle of a supernatural war . . . and exposed herself to dark, powerful magic. As human and Gargoyle forge an unbreakable bond, Kat will discover that despite his intimidating strength and size, one thing Ahnvil does not possess is a heart of stone.

I enjoyed this book. I found it easy to read, and with characters that I liked. Kat was easy to understand, not whinny; strong but not too strong. Ahnvil (though I found the naming of the main character of a book titled Forged, Anvil a hugh pun. I know there is an h there, but in my mind it is silent...I kept looking for the character named Hammer) was a wonderful Alpha male, and who doesn't like a Scottish brogue? The fact that I this is my the first book by Ms. Franks, did not hinder my enjoyment of this installment. There was enough background given that I was able to keep up. I may look into obtaining the other books to read. This book is also obviously meant to blend two series that the author already has published. This is under the pretense that the two groups had not known about each other previously due to a curse. All and all and enjoyable book with likeable characters. Might be better understood at first after reading, previous books in the series, but it is not necessary.

This was an uneven book. The set-up looked like it was going to be good, this woman, Katrina, who had holed up in a cabin in the woods for unclear reasons rescues a wounded and barely conscious man, whose skin seems to periodically look like stone here and there. What will she do, how does she react. But then when he regains consciousness, he turns out to be this huge horny , albeit hunky, Scot, whose skin is still unexplainable. He acts pretty much like a socially ignorant horn dog who discovers he's in a brothel, or somewhere where it's okay to just take whatever woman he wants. Not real attractive, despite the Scottish accent. Somehow, though, they make a connection and Ahnvil starts seeing her as herself, not just primarily a sexual object. That's when the story starts being more fun. Kat is learning that there are things she'd never dreamed about out there. Without adding any spoilers, some weirder things happen and they get into a bind. Ahnvil (What's with the "h" in names anyway? Has Frank been reading J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series?) knows some people who he believes can help. They fly to the Bodywalker enclave in New Mexico, and Kat gets the full Bodywalker experience immediately. We get to see several of our favorite characters from previous novels here, and the action picks up right away. The romance is still spotty, since they are both very attracted to each other, but neither thinks the attraction can lead to anything more. He feels very protective of her though, and we all know what that means, even if he doesn't (an irritating but common plot point). The plot elements from previous books are meeting here and that leads to some interesting revelations. The book was much better after Ahnvil smartened up about women. I can't give 5 stars because I reserve that rating for books I love all the way through. Four stars are for books I like all the way through. I'd give this 3.5 if I could because I liked most of it. I got this book free in exchange for what I hope they expected would be an honest review, although their wording only encourages me to post a review if I like the book.

I usually find myself drawn to reading books like Forged during YA/NA burn-out to cleanse my reading palate. Like another paranormal romance series I love to read (the 'Love at Stake' series by Kerrelyn Sparks) Forged is one of many in a series, however it can easily be read without any prior knowledge of the world or characters considering each novel in the series acts as a standalone that only builds on and expands the world. Forged, in particular, was even more interesting for me since I had yet to read a romance novel regarding gargoyles before. There were only few parts of the novel that seemed to linger on just a touch too dryly but for the most part Jacquelyn Frank has a solid entry into her World of Nightwalkers series. I really enjoyed Ahnvil's character, he hit all of the marks I look for in a MC/Love Interest. Hot, Sexy, Intense but Kind, and did I mention hot? Kat on the other hand seemed to struggle with finding a solid personality. There were parts I felt she didn't have a solid enough voice almost like a background filler character. Even though I struggled with connecting with Kat, I did find retribution in her by the novels end. In closing, Forged was a solid romance novel that was just what I needed after burning out from YA/NA novels. Jacquelyn Frank's talent for world building is evident, her story is well paced, and her romance game is strong. This novel was provided to me through LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review.

The author has produced a very good read yet again, the series is one to read.
It's a different paranormal read that fans should buy as well as Jacquelyn's other series

I have read all of this authors books. I love them. This series is about one of eight species of Nightwalkers xalled bodywalkers. Her paranormal species are different and quirky. She is also tying all the series together. Will keep reading all of her books. This review was written in exchange for early reviewer copy of book.

This was the first time I've read anything by this author and I didn't realize that this book was part of a series of books but, considering this, I was able to follow along pretty well. However I think I may have enjoyed this book better if I've read more in this series. After I got over the first few chapters (which some parts were confusing.. like mentioning television when starting the story line from 300 years ago) I started to get into the story. The characters were likeable, the writing was decent and the world was rather interesting. I don't like erotica and this book, I think, may border on it. However since I don't actually read erotica I don't know if this is just a 'steamy' book or actually erotica. Anyway, I skipped the sex scenes. Overall I liked this book because the world that was created is what made the story a fast, easy, entertaining read. Would I read more from this series? yes, because I like supernatural / urban fantasy themed tales (I'd just skip the sex scenes).I recieved this book via Librarything.com Early Reviewer giveaway.

Yes, I did it again. I started a series in the middle. I did read the blurb which said a new paranormal so I really thought I was starting at the beginning. However, like a lot of PNR, I was not lost and any background information was provided that I needed. I have to say that at first I didn't like either character. In fact taking the book as a whole the characterization felt very uneven. At first, Ahnvil was abusive and a jerk to Kat who was trying to save his life. Kat, in turn, kept instantly forgiving him without cause and actually was instantly attracted to him. Later there was an excuse for his behavior (the healing process kicked in some nasty behavior) and she finally told him where to take his attitude. He also started treating her with respect and she starting getting an attitude (which was a good thing). However, both behaviors seemed to come out of the blue. Even so, I did start to enjoy the story when this started happening. The part about Kat learning about herself and the adventure that came with it was very interesting. Unfortunately we don't get too much of it. I would have almost like it to start at the point where she was learning about herself (well, with a little background or it wouldn't have made sense) and then continue with the story arc that is going throughout the series. I do think that the series might be better on the whole and I'm and ending girl. Despite the ending feeling "short" (like it was just getting started and then it ended) I did like it better than the beginning. I do recommend this series for those that like PNR. I have a feeling those that are attracted to PNR much more than I am will really enjoy this series.

This was an Early Reviewers book and one I truly enjoyed. When i first started this book, I felt a little lost, then realized it is part of a series of which I have not read yet. After the first couple of chapters, I was so engrossed in the story, I couldn't put it down!Ahnvil, the main male character, was seriously enjured escaping his captors, and was nursed back to health by a non-practicing medical professional with issues preventing her from being in the sunlight. The similarities in their unrelated background were inspiring. Quite a new twist on entwining characters. The characters were developed quite well. I really enjoyed the broque which also made this quite easy to understand a conversation without going back to decide who said what. This was my first read by Frank, but will definitly not be my last!!

Katrina Haynes finds an injured man near her remote home and nurses him back to health. Three-hundred-and-fifty-two-year-old Scottish Gargoyle, Ahnvil, is injured after escaping from the Templars. He awakens to an intriguing woman. A storm is preventing him from getting home to his touchstone, which is needed to maintain his life.Jacquelyn Frank did a great job with the characters. I love that you could always tell when Ahnvil was speaking because of the Scottish dialect. He was even a bit rough around the edges, which is appropriate for an old gargoyle. I really like Ahnvil. He has become one of my favorite Nightwalker characters.Katrina is suffering from a rare disease that makes her feel self-conscious around others. She has never felt like she fit in. Having a medical background it is no wonder why she took Ahnvil in. She is a good person with a warm heart. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two characters. They were definitely entertaining.Forged has a great plot with some unexpected surprises. Old characters make appearances, and new characters are introduced into the series; making the story more enriching. I really enjoy The World of Nightwalkers. It is a creative realm with lots of excitement. Some interesting things happened in Forged that will affect future books in the series. I look forward to reading what happens next.Complimentary copy provided by publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book is the latest in the World of Nightwalkers series. The story focuses on Ahnvil, a gargoyle and Katarina the woman who saves him. Each have troubled pasts and once Kat starts helping Ahnvil the future for the two of them is in question. Forged like all the other books by Ms. Frank are really great escape reads. They keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. When the book is over you can't help but anticipate the next to come. A great read by a great author.

The Gargoyle ended up being a very likable character. The details about the Gargoyles were interesting. The heroine learning about everything was a good way to get it all together….. but is she ever going to call her mother? I am still having trouble keeping all of the races straight…maybe 12 or 13 of them are too many.

I received a copy of Forged by Jacquelyn Frank from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review.I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this book, though I do enjoy most paranormal books. I had not read any of the other books in this series, and it does work as a stand-alone book, but would probably have been a better read if I had read other books in the series first. I enjoyed the multiple races of Nightwalkers that are in this book, but I am not sure about the way the characters all related to one another once they left the solitude of Kat’s home. Also, I am not sure what happened to Kat’s mother, whose relationship was so important to Kat at the beginning of the book. She just seemed to vanish toward the end, with no though or explanation as to what they were going to tell her. Honestly, the dog held a more important role in the book overall. I did enjoy most of the story, and would be interested to find out about the other characters, but I am not sure that I would pay to read more of these books. Maybe I will see if my local library has them in hardcover or on their e-book site.

I really liked this story, but I suspect I would have perhaps liked it better had I read any of the prior books in the series. Regardless, I enjoyed the tale of Gargoyle Ahnvil, his escape from capture and his recovery/discovery of his own True Love. I did find that I thought the storyline was a little lean and it ended abruptly, but I still had a hard time putting it down.I found the idea of Gargoyles being "forged" rather than just being another race of supernaturals rather interesting, as well as how in their forging an animal is introduced into the end result. Some interesting twists to some old favorite "haunts"

“Forged” by Jacquelyn Frank is the fourth book in her “The World of Nightwalkers” series. This book picks up right after “Forsaken” ends and you really need to read the books in order to experience the entire story to it’s fullest. Frank brings back Jacob and Bella from her “Nightwalkers” series which was a wonderful surprise and begins to show us where she is going with the rest of the series. In “Forged” we get to know Ahnvil, a very proud and loyal Gargoyle. He was introduced to us in earlier books and if you are anything like me you couldn’t wait to hear his story. We also meet the unexpected Katrina “Kat” Haynes who seems to have no fear of the large man she finds in the snow near her home, who seems to harden just like stone but she doesn’t panic nor try and get away from this strange and very different man. Part of Kat’s reason for not being afraid is that she too is “different” and she understands what that can do to a person. Before she knows it Kat gets caught up in the battle between the Politic and the Templars without understanding all the rules or players. What she does know though is that she wants to help Ahnvil and she wants to stay with him because for the first time in her life she is not so different. She finally feels like she belongs and can make a difference and she is falling for Ahnvil. If you are a fan of Jacquelyn Frank’s this book will not disappoint you. It seems that we are getting closer to the ultimate battle between good and evil or in this case Politic and Templars. The more you get involved with the books the deeper the experience and the closer you get to the characters. I can’t wait for the next installment of the story which hasn’t been announced yet that I can find but there is so much more to look forward to.

This book was received free with the request for an honest review. Ahnvil is a gargoyle, forged using black magic to be slave to an evil faction of Bodywalker. Bodywalkers are one of the six breeds of Nightwalkers known to the gargoyles -- the others are Wraiths, Mysticals, Djynns, Night Angels and Phoenixes. Ahnvil found freedom once only to be taken prisoner again, this time to unlock the magic of Adoma's Amulet. He escapes his latest prison, grabbing the amulet, but is badly injured. Kat, who suffers from a rare condition that causes her skin to burn and blister in the sun, finds Ahnvil near her isolated mountain cabin. She takes him in and nurses him back to health in the midst of a raging snowstorm. Unfortunately gargoyles have to be near their touchstone every day or they slowly go mad and risk turning to stone permanently. His touch stone is in New Mexico. As soon as weather allows they set off for his home to get his touch stone and to get the amulet off of Kat. Kat donned the amulet, not knowing what it was, and now can't get it off.In this book we also finally have the other Nightwalkers introduced in earlier books -- Mistrals, Lycanthropes, Vampires, Demons, Druids and Shadowdwellers-- become aware of the six known to the gargoyles. As prophesied these groups must all come together to defeat a great evil. Much of this book focused on Ahnvil and Kat. They both carry emotional scars and think themselves undeserving of love. They are immediately attracted to each other but doubt there is more to it than the physical. Their struggles are a little heartbreaking at times. There is an epic battle to come, but it was not faved in this book. Clearly there is a lot more story to tell and I look forward to the next installment. These books are great but really need to be read in order if you want to understand the big picture. I've enjoyed them all and recommend the series.

Review for Early Reviewers I absolutely love, love, love, this book!!! It pulled me right in from the first paragraph! I was not able to put it down from the moment I started reading it, I read it straight through in four hours, it was just that amazing! There are very few authors that I have found who have the ability to make me feel as if I am really living within the book right along with the characters but, Jacquelyn Frank is definitely one of them! A MUST READ for everyone! I cannot wait to purchase and read the rest of the books in the Nightwalker series!!Holly Newhouse

I've been looking forward to reading Ahnvil's story since I found out this book was gonna be his. I liked it and liked the fact that we got to see a little more into the gargoyles. Ahnvil was hot! A little bit oversexed and definitely a little bit possessive, but I guess those are the traits you deal with when you're dealing with alpha-type men in the Nightwalker world. Not that I'm complaining cause lord knows it makes for some fun reading. I also loved the fact that after all this time the two Nightwalker worlds finally met and we're gonna see some old friends. Can't wait to see how it's all gonna play out. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Wow! what a fantastic story, I just loved it. Katrina Haynes discovers a large, half naked, injured, man lying in the snow near her home. There's something odd about him, his skin changes from stone back to skin but she still decides to help. When he awakes he acts very wild and angry but is immediately attracted to Kat.Anhvil is a cursed gargoyle changing from stone to man at will which was an interesting idea, and the action was very exciting with a nicely written storyline. Kat in the beginning changed from a scared, shaky person to a strong independent woman. While Anhvil started out to be a bit controlling, he realized as the story progressed that she was strong and had a mind of her own. When Kat and Anhvil did get to together the romance was very hot and steamy. This was a stand alone story but there was plenty of additional characters in the book for more The World of Nightwalkers novels which I definitely will be on the look out for.I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 StarsThis is my first gargoyle romance novel and I enjoyed it! I read the first book in the series and although the writing flows better in the Forbidden (book #1), this plot was just as exciting if not more. I love the names of the gargoyles and the story behind them. I do strongly suggest reading the other books because you may be lost if you don't. The supernatural powers and species are interesting, but it did take about 1/3 of the novel to get to that part of the storyline. It also took some time for the female MC to grow on me (but she did). Overall, if you are a Jacquelyn Frank fan, or love a good supernatural romance, then this book is for you.Net Galley Feedback
