- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Portions of this book were absolute Absolute ABSOLUTE garbage BUT, there’re parts(chapters) that are extremely beneficial and very applicable to we men individually and as a whole! A five star rating because of the applicable portions of the book, thank you authors!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love this book. As a black man I recommend it to all brothers. A truly great read
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5"Fur, Fortune and Empire is a fast tour of 300 years witnessing America's westward expansion and settlement. Dolin has researched the fur trades contribution to exploring the wonders of early America. His storytelling pace is powerful and engaging. Here is a readable view of history with adventure and excitement never taught in the classroom. It is a must read for all who love the wild"
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5An outstanding, comprehensive look at the history of the fur trade. Where it triumphs is in its scope: Dolin does well to emphasize the importance of the fur trade in the exploration and growth of the United States. Without the economic importance of the beaver pelt, Dolin points out that American history would have been much different. An excellent read, it only suffers from minor bouts of minutiae - but that only demonstrates the author's depth of research, and so is forgiven for what is an otherwise exciting, sweeping tale.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What he did for whaling, Dolin does here for the fur trade. Again, well researched with a great wealth of footnotes, and a story engagingly told.
