About this audiobook
“This book has made me more determined than ever to do the Camino. That’s what I wanted to get out of it, and that’s exactly what I got.” -Ana, Goodreads
“Impulse is intuition on Crack”. If Intuition is the prudent angel who carefully directs your spirit, then Impulse is its mischief-making twin. The “imp in impulse.” And thus begins Jane Christmas’s second book chronicling a walk a very long walk taken to celebrate her 50th birthday and face the challenges of mid-life. From a chance encounter, Jane Christmas is inspired to walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, a goal she mentioned in a CBC radio interview. That casual mention inspired others, too, and Christmas finds herself “leader” of 14 women who have all signed on to hike the Camino with her. Before leaving, a psychic warns her of cat-fights, death, and a sexy, fair-haired man. Undaunted, Christmas soldiers on. In vivid, irreverent style, she recounts the joys and struggles she encountered on this challenging pilgrimage – her battles with loneliness, group dynamics, and exhaustion, and more. What the Psychic Told the Pilgrim is one trip neither the author or listener will forget.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5actually I really enjoyed this book. The author is incredibly insightful and funny. she made me want to push myself beyond my limits and walk the El Camino. I definitely recommend it!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very interesting story about El Camino. I loved the concept and how it unfolded. Thank you for sharing this.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of the most honest accounts of the Camino I’ve read. Highly recommended for entertainment and especially for those considering following the Path.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I guess I am biased because I have been walking 8 caminos the last 5 years.
Some parts I liked, but I felt the author was too judgemental. I mean even though the other women were bitchy, so was the author.
The whole twist with the psychic felt like an attempt to create a bigger story, which didn’t appeal to me.
Maybe my favourite part was that the author found love… love on the camino is always a hit. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5An enjoyable book. Just the right amount of historical information where needed.
But so very frustrating when a few of the audio chapters ended abruptly mid-sentence or before the end of the actual chapter. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5What a self-involved whiner. Needs help for her internalized misogyny. Xenophobic , judgmental, and really unlikeable person who found “love” on the Camino. I kept listening, hoping she would stop being nasty and self-serving. I suppose If you’re a middle aged, middle class, spoiled woman, you might like it. She was never satisfied with the walk, the accommodations, the food, the restaurants, or any of the Spanish people she met. I guess she wanted a Canadian experience on a Spain.
