About this audiobook

“Touching and complex…Tucker unerringly hits all the high notes of romance—the spark, the emotional depth, the mental and physical struggles—while creating a couple who seem perfectly attuned even when they are in conflict.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania (population three thousand outside of tourist season).

And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed date, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has rescued: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.

Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works. For a time.

But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. There’s an immediate connection, and it’s more electric than the bond of two people who endured a traumatic event. It’s something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something she is afraid to trust.

Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine...before the spark fades?

Love this book but this audiobook skipped HUGE sections :-( I’ve been using this app for a few months and this is the only book this has happened with. Super disappointing! Cath would be having a conversation with her father and the next sentence she’s kissing a guy! The chapter breaks were all messed up too. Luckily the ebook version is on here too but it was hard to find my place from where the audiobook left off. I couldn’t believe how much was skipped over! Please fix this title because it’s a wonderful story

Very cute book, the narrator's voice was a little strange but I got use to it. Loved the storyline. Very "pretty woman". I was intrigued and wanted to know what happened. Not bad at all

Sweet story, slow but rewarding. Really enjoyed the Alaska series by this author. Also sweet, but more lively.

I enjoyed this book, probably wouldn’t read again. It’s the feminist in me that gets annoyed when I man has to sweep in and fix everything.

It was a great read. A little inexperienced and written very sensitively considering the issues experienced. Can’t wait to read another book by KA Tucker

I remember the first book of the author, "Ten short breaths", it kept me in the mouth and I couldn't sleep until I finished that book.
I started reading this book by the author, wanting a break from many actions and happenings, reading before long series with much suspense. I can't give him many stars, because I make a difference between what I read before and this one. But I say it was a nice story and the author puts on paper so beautiful that it catches you from the beginning and you want to know the end.

Slown burn between Catherine (single mom, waitress, poor) and Brett (hockey star, rich, famous, kind). I had an issue with the pacing of the story which I found a bit slow at times but there were a lot of cute moments between the characters. The audio narration was nice.

Narrator is so awesome. Love her work. Ending was a little disappointing simply cause I wanted more! Left me hanging a little and didn’t see a second book. Just needed a much longer epilogue and I would have been good with that!

This was a slow burn if I’ve ever read one! Honestly though, I enjoyed the pace it wasn’t about the romance as much as the story behind the characters. Definitely would recommend and plan to read more by KA Tucker!

K.A. Tucker I is sweet little story about a young woman who has not exactly had an easy life, especially the teen age years that were full of angst and heartache. Now she is a single mother, Catherine Wright is determined to make a good life with her adorable daughter, Brenna. When she meets hot shot hockey player, Brett Madden, life becomes a little complicated.
I honestly really loved this story. There was no TSTL heroine, no insta-romance or anything else that can drive me crazy. It is just a really sweet romance between a down to earth woman and a hot hockey player.
The only minor complaint I have is that we don’t get to read Brett’s POV. I wanted to read about how he was falling for Cath and all the other emotions he was going through. Other than that, this book is definitely on my favorite list for 2017.

Cute story, though very long winded. Lots of details that don't move the story along. The narrator's volume changes depending on the character speaking which I found very annoying.

There’s slow burn and then there’s TOO slow burn. This is definitely the latter.
