About this audiobook

“Two terrific female characters, both with secrets. Add Michael Robotham’s clean prose and whipcrack pacing. The result? A book you won’t be able to put down, although you may occasionally want to hide your eyes.” —Stephen King

“A premium delivery.” —People

Meghan doesn’t know Agatha, but Agatha knows Meghan. And the one thing Agatha looks forward to each day is catching a glimpse of her, the effortlessly chic customer at the grocery store where she works stocking shelves. Meghan has it all: two adorable children, a handsome and successful husband, a happy marriage, a beautiful house, and a popular parenting blog that Agatha reads with devotion each night as she waits for her absent boyfriend, the father of the baby growing inside her, to return her calls.

Yet if Agatha could look beyond the gloss and trappings of Meghan’s “perfect life,” she’d see the flaws and doubts. Meghan has her secrets too, especially one that she dare not ever tell. Soon the lives of these two women will collide in the most spellbinding and intimate of ways, until their secrets are exposed by one shocking act that cannot be undone. From internationally bestselling author Michael Robotham, The Secrets She Keeps is a dark, exquisite, and twisted page-turner so full of surprises, you’ll find it impossible to put down.

    I REALLY enjoyed this audiobook.
First off, I think the narrator does a great job.
As for the book itself, I was hooked by about 20 minutes in. The author does a great job switching from perspectives and writes in a way that you really empathize with all the characters

So well written and engaging! The author really takes his time building the story and characters; and while it could have been a little shorter, the slow burn really pays off at the end. Surprisingly poignant and emotional.

Loved it. I loved how the author made Agatha a character I could have sympathy for. I love how it made me think about the ways I am lucky and the ways I am not. I think at least two of the themes of this book are, “Be grateful for what you have” and “Try to understand each other.” 5 stars!

Sigh. I suppose what I liked about this book was the back and forth of the two main characters throughout all the chapters. What I didn’t like was that it really seemed to drag. It was very depressing and exhausting to listen to one of the character’s exposition. I felt like I had to finish it, the way you feel like you need to finish a bad movie you’ve invested a hour into already. Too bad this was more like 9 hours to get through. I very rarely give poor reviews, but this was monotonous. I kept being hopeful it would pay off. Sadly, it didn’t.

Interesting plot, especially as presented, with bits of Agatha's past coming out here and there. I loved it! It started out interesting and stayed that way to the last sentence!

Blown away by this book. I’ve never been so captivated by a thriller, although there were some intense moments where I had to pause because I was absolutely panicking! King wasn’t lying when he said Robotham is an absolute master. This is the first book of his I’ve read and it certainly won’t be the last. Strap in and enjoy the ride!

Agatha is pregnant and works part-time stocking shelves at a grocery store, counting down the days until her baby is due. The one thing she looks forward to at work is catching a glimpse of Meghan, the effortlessly chic customer whose elegant lifestyle dazzles her. Meghan has it all: two perfect children, a handsome husband, a happy marriage, a stylish group of friends, and she writes perfectly droll confessional posts on her popular parenting blog—posts that Agatha reads with devotion each night as she waits for her absent boyfriend, the father of her baby, to maybe return her calls.

When Agatha learns that Meghan is pregnant again, and that their due dates fall within the same month, she finally musters up the courage to speak to her, thrilled that they now have the ordeal of childbearing in common. Little does Meghan know that the mundane exchange she has with a grocery store employee during a hurried afternoon shopping trip is about to change the course of her not-so-perfect life forever…

This is my first read from Michael Robotham and I loved it! I listened to the audio version of this book and must say that narrator Lucy Price-Lewis did a wonderful job.

The book alternates between Agatha and Meghan's point of view. Meghan has secrets...and she's not the only one. There are so many secrets. I was so fully engrossed in the story that I didn't see the time passing. So many twists and turns that literally had my mouth dropping open in surprise. This was a gripping and powerful story full of thrills, twists, and mind games. “??? ??????? ??? ?????” delivers a dark and twisted page-turner that is absolutely impossible to put down. Highly recommend!

Good book. Some parts you knew would happen but still twists were added. Only complaint is the ending seemed dragged on for several chapters and then the last two just sped up. Some unanswered questions left to ponder.

This book was INSANE and full of plot holes and factual errors. Did the author talk to any mothers before writing it? Does he even have a mother? None of it made any sense. If I wasn't reading it for book club, I would have abandoned it.
