Herbie Fisher is engaged, but she is not who she claims to be. Herbie is asked to take over a criminal trial, by a lawyer on the run. Herbie soon finds himself in a complicated mess, with gangsters, mob bosses, and loan sharks after him. A councilman's son is on trial. The councilman's daughter, a doctor, believes her brother is innocent. Herbie is in the middle of it all.
Quick read, not a lot of substance, lots of confusion.

I enjoyed the book and the character Herbie Fisher. You have a crooked cop, mobsters, a loan shark, and a senator all in the same plot. Throw in a climatic surprise ending and the result is a very good read.
