About this audiobook

#1 New York Times bestselling author John Grisham's newest legal thriller takes you inside a law firm that's on shaky ground.

Mark, Todd, and Zola came to law school to change the world, to make it a better place. But now, as third-year students, these close friends realize they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a third-tier, for-profit law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs. And when they learn that their school is one of a chain owned by a shady New York hedge-fund operator who also happens to own a bank specializing in student loans, the three know they have been caught up in The Great Law School Scam.

But maybe there's a way out. Maybe there's a way to escape their crushing debt, expose the bank and the scam, and make a few bucks in the process. But to do so, they would first have to quit school. And leaving law school a few short months before graduation would be completely crazy, right? Well, yes and no . . .

Pull up a stool, grab a cold one, and get ready to spend some time at The Rooster Bar.

    I like John Grisham, but . . .
A story that wasn't that believable or even interesting, really. Unlikable characters. Grisham-like little guy vs. big guy, but you don't want to even cheer for the little guy or really even care who "wins". I finished it just so I wouldn't be a quitter and out of some misguided hope that it would get better along the way. It did not.

Once again John Grisham dances on the fringes of reality and the possible. Her brings to light some very points about the for profit education system.
In the end, it's disgraceful but not illegal that some can get rich offering diploma mill low quality education while burdening the unsuspecting students with a high amount of real debt for a mostly worthless degree.
Grisham does a great job bringing this narrative to life. While fictional here, it is true for many.
Unfortunately, in the game if life, it's the rich profiteers that hold the cards over the financially needy students.
He has created a great novelization of a grand injustice against those without financial means who are attempting to climb the social ladder via education and end up exploited.

hard to have sympathy for the "heros". story drags on but keep wondering how these fools will get out.
