About this audiobook

Impatient to meet her intended groom and help him grow his general store, mail-order bride Eliza Cantrell sets out on her travels a week early. But her plan goes sadly awry when her train is held up by robbers who steal her dowry and Axel, her groom-to-be, isn't even in town when she finally arrives. Axel's business partner, William Stanton, has no head for business and would much rather be a doctor. When his friend's mail-order bride arrives in town with no money and no groom in sight, he feels responsible and lets her help around the store-where she quickly proves she's much more adept at business than he ever will be. The sparks that fly between Will and Eliza as they work together in close quarters are hard to ignore, but Eliza is meant for Axel and a future with the store, while Will is biding his time until he can afford medical school. However, their troubles are far from over when Axel finally returns, and soon both Will and Eliza must decide what they're willing to sacrifice to chase their dreams-or if God has a new dream in store for them both.

This author is a good story teller. Although at times I felt the book could have ended sooner, I must say that I really appreciated how the author brought this story to a conclusion. Realizing that love sometime involves sacrifice and that God can give you a new dream if you let go of your old dream was very touching.Eliza Cantrell is a mail-order bride who arrives in in town early and her husband-to-be, Axel, is not there to greet her. But she does find herself needing the assistance of his business partner, William Stanton, when she arrives on the train that was robbed and where she was treated roughly and is in need of medical assistance. Will helps out the hurting, even though he isn't a real medical doctor. He will help Eliza run the business (a store in town) until Axel comes back to town (no one seems to know where he is and when he will return). Sparks will fly for Will and Eliza, but Will never acts upon them as she is his partners intended. When Eliza discovers who Axel truly is, then it gets even more complicated. Will would give up and do anything for Eliza and she will begin to see just how selfish she is and how loving someone means thinking of them more than oneself. A will written story that at times you just wanted to see end, but you had to wait awhile to see these characters grow in their love for each other.

I read the novella to get a feel for Melissa Jagears stile of writing. I enjoyed it very much and could not wait to read more. A Bride In Store is a nice clean wholesome Christian Love Story. In some parts I found it to ramble on a little. Maybe it was the characters. I wanted to give it a "five" like the other books, but couldn't.

I received a chance to read the next book in the Unexpected Brides Series. I liked reading how Eliza took control of her circumstances from the early train ride to meet her groom, to the unexpected challenges in becoming a store keeper like she wanted.Eliza (a mail order bride) finds herself a victim of circumstance when she decides to come early to meet the person she is to marry. She has been corresponding with him to give him ideas to make his store better and when she gets there she finds that some have been implemented and works with the co-owner of the store to implement more. Because she arrived early, her interned is not there to greet her and she has to make other arrangements until he gets there. I liked how she didn't let prejudices keep her from meeting the other townspeople and eventually making it for herself. Her intended's business partner is overrun with trying to run their store, work as a gunsmith, and as a somewhat doctor. He wants to become a doctor, but circumstances haven't made that possible yet. Eliza encourages him to pursue his dream and it eventually comes about in an unconventional way.I received this book free to review.

Will Love Win Out?A Bride in Store is a book you don’t want to miss. I thoroughly enjoyed this book to the fullest. Melissa Jagears books are on the rise. This can be read as a stand alone book but I encourage you to read, A Bride for Keeps first, this way you will get to know some of the characters that carry over into A Bride in Store. It didn’t take me long to love some of the characters in this book. William (Will) Stanton and Eliza Cantrell will capture your heart. One is on the selfish side, the other would give you the shirt off their back. Both have big dreams. I think that Irena Lightfoot will capture your heart too. Speaking of Irena, why does she wear a face-obscuring scarf? The story starts in Kansas 1881. Life is hard, money is tight, bad men abound, and illnesses will take a life or two. This book wasn’t preachy but yet God’s love shone through. Forgiveness was there for the asking. Faith was lacking in the beginning. Did it win in the end? What about trust? Will Eliza and Will be able to move forward and trust God and each other? This is a 5 star read all the way. I highly recommend it.I won this book on Goodreads. I wish to thank Bethany House for allowing me to read and review this book. The opinions expressed are mine alone.

What a chance of circumstances Eliza has that makes her end up early in a town far from home. She ends up there early, and as she is a mail order bride, her groom to be is not there to meet her. Not only that he is anywhere to be found, now what? This poor girl not only does not know where her future husband is, but also is robbed of her dowry on the train to Kansas. Can’t imagine how this poor girl managed, yes she is very smart, but could see the hand of God in all that proceeds to happen. I really enjoyed this story and how things all worked out, not always how you hope, or expect.Come along and enjoy this rather spunky young woman, and see if she gets the chance of a lifetime, and her dream fulfilled. Then there is her fiancé’s partner, who takes her under his wing, and he has his own demons. William is a doctor without a degree, and is really not paid for his services, even though he has helped many. I loved being in this early American town. You won’t be able to put this one down until you find out how all of the answers.I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.

Eliza is not having a good day. She is a mail-order bride and had decided to meet her future husband early. But the train she is on is robbed and she loses all of her inheritance. It’s the money that she was going to use to invest in her husband’s store. She receives a nice gash to the face as well and inadvertently meets her new associate when he stitches up her face. Her husband, on the other hand, is nowhere to be found.I’ve enjoyed every one of Melissa Jagears books and this one was no exception. I enjoyed the interaction between the couple. The message of grace that is woven throughout the story is prominent without being pushy or preachy. The full of life characters definitely add to the plot. There is heartbreak and sacrifice, but the overall theme is redeeming. If taken to heart, this book can help you grow in your Christian walk as well as entertain you. I can’t wait to read her next book.I received this book free of charge from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.
