About this audiobook

As Sarah and Julian begin their quest to uncover the truth surrounding his curse, a new threat arises, endangering not only their lives but the future they hope to build with one another. In order to protect themselves and those they care about the most, Julian and Sarah must use all of the resources at their disposal to neutralize their adversaries. For Julian, this means relying on his sister, Mira, and the Council of Elders in New Orleans to uphold the laws within the supernatural community there and mete out justice to those who disobey them.

Sarah must seek the assistance of the alfar who are more than happy to oblige the wishes of their future queen and ruler of House Moonshade. As she begins to accept the responsibilities of her birthright, Sarah's knowledge of the rivalries between the alfar houses grows, revealing to her how tenuous peace is among them. While Sarah delves deeper into their world, she discovers just how far they're willing to go to serve and protect her. Such loyalty brings into focus her duty to the alfar and the dreams she might have to abandon in order to live up to her heritage.

I want to give this book more than five stars. Because I gave Apollyon five stars and this is even better. Because this is how you end a young adult series. Not a happily ever after, but it's satisfying and leaves us with hope instead of despair. Because it didn't ruin the entire series for me for a change. This final book in the series is almost non-stop action, but not to the point that it becomes exhausting. The author slows it down enough to allow us to catch our breath before ramping it back up again. I'm not someone who is easily moved to tears. Just ask my husband. He cries during movies before I do. But a few really moving, bittersweet, and heartwarming moments managed to wet my Sahara-dry eyes.PlotSentinel is almost entire plot-driven, although there are still a few moments of character development that are like the most delicious cherry on top of the perfect sundae. With everything in the previous books leading to war, war has finally come and Alex and her friends must fight for everything they know, love, and believe in.And because it's war, people get hurt and people die, but there are no senseless deaths. Each death serves a purpose, to move the plot, to further the story. And as painful as it is to lose characters we love, when well-done, they make the story richer.World BuildingIf possible, the world building is even more complete this time around. It was already incredibly well developed, but the more the world unfolds, the more there seems to be to still learn. Like the TARDIS, it's bigger on the inside.CharactersThe characters in Sentinel are still fascinating, still fully developed, but they had room to grow, and that's exactly what they do. Seth is the boy I always knew he would be and that was beautiful to see. Watching Alex accept her fate with grace and dignity was worth the wait. And Aiden...what can I say, he is the ultimate book boyfriend to the very end.Top Five Things I Love About Sentinel1. The action. There's a lot of it and it's all really well done.2. Alex and Aiden. Still the cutest young adult couple in all of Greek mythology.3. Seth. Seth is back and better than ever.4. Apollo and Alex. There is a really bittersweet scene between the two of them that just really works.5. The end. A completely satisfying conclusion to a fun series.Bottom LineThe perfect example of how to wrap up a young adult series in a satisfying way.

MAJOR SPOILERS FROM THIS BOOK IN THIS REVIEWYOU HAVE BEEN WARNEDAlex is waking up after being healed by one of Apollo's sons after having been tortured by that SOB Ares. I couldn't believe there was another God hiding at the Covenant. I am stunned. But it makes sense that Ares is responsible for Seth. Who would want a war more then the God of War. I still had hope for Seth like I have hope for Klaus on the Vampire Diaries. For some reason Seth reminds me of Klaus. Can't put my finger on why. Other then I totally think Joseph Morgan who plays Klaus would make an amazing Seth. Seth shines in this book and Seth does redeem himself and for all the readers who held out hope for him it was an I knew it moment and justifies are belief in his character.Lucy(Lucian)gets whats coming to him and I was so happy. I hated him so much.Unsurprising Alex is having a horrible time after being tortured by Ares. It is so sad watching Alex trying to come to terms with what happened to her. She thinks she is going crazy plus she is having a hard time talking about her feelings with Aiden. I was happy when Aiden finally admitted to Alex he was jealous of her connection with Seth after he lost it over her secret late night chat with Seth. Aiden and Alex's relationship is so mature and healthy. They tell each other stuff and work though their problems. I find their relationship more mature then some adult ones. The hotel scene between Aiden and Alex is soooooooo hot and sexy. But it wasn't all sexy times this being the last book and it's a war so people are going to die.I love the scene when Alex meets her father. There is so much love and emotion in that scene. This was one heck of a heart stopping emotional finale. The ending is just perfection and very bittersweet as we say good-bye to such a great world and amazing characters.Rating: 5 out of 5Content Rating: Recommend for older YA readersKeeper: YES!

What the hell? That's it? Whaaat? Don't get me wrong, I loved everything about the book. It made me laugh really hard some times. But really, I'll be so ecstatic if the author would released novellas or short stories. I just want to know what freaking happened to Seth. What in the world is he feeling after everything. I want to see something in his POV. Ugh. The things he did at the end of the book nearly made me cry.

I think that the war just went too fast. But other than that, everything was good. The series end here. Sad. Sad. Sad. I'm going to miss Alexandria's witty personality. I'm going to miss Aiden. *happy sigh*

Why did I bother? After the shit-fest that was Apollyon, why did I continue with this series?

(Those are strictly rhetorical questions directed at myself. Truth be told, I don’t have the answer to them.)

The fifth and final book in the Covenant series cannot be considered a satisfying “conclusion”. It seemed more like a half-assed attempt, with only Alex and Aiden’s sex relationship given heed, and barely a fleeting glance given to anything else.

Why is this book so heavily reliant on romance? I really shouldn't be surprised, considering how her other novels that I've read of late were. And it’s not even enjoyable romance; it’s downright cheesy and agonizing to read about.

I can’t believe I hadn't noticed this from the start, but Aiden was too damn perfect. He is the personification of every teenage girl’s lust. If you juxtapose him with other “hawt” love interests of the YA genre, their almost-nonexistent personalities would be practically indistinguishable.

Alex was even worse. Like I said, I can’t believe I never noticed how stupid these characters are. Here is a quote regarding one of their million make-out sessions:
”There was probably a lot to do today.”
    No shit.
”Some would also say there were a lot more important things we could be doing at this very moment.”
Actually, that’s exactly what I’m saying.
”I would argue against this point voraciously, because there was nothing more important than this.”

Also, what is it with the mention of Aiden’s gray to silver change in eye color? I wish I had counted the amount of times Alex commented on how his “eyes changed from gray to silver”.

The action scenes were okayish, and relatively few and far between. I actually appreciated the last fighting scene, saving me from completely hating this book.

Seth was the only character I liked. He grew considerably from when we first met him, and although the author didn’t give him the attention he deserved, I quite liked the scenes he was in.

THE CONCLUSION WAS HORRIBLE. HORRIBLY-HORRIBLE. This is not a conclusion to the series; instead of wrapping things up, we get a corny/selfish HEA that is pretty much written in favor of Alex. Who was forced to suffer? Seth. The character who is supposed to be the most selfish, is now the most selfless.

On a side note, how come when Olivia died she was barely given any attention, but when Alex died, shit went crazy? Tut tut. I sense an author playing favorites here. *looks pointedly at Jennifer Armentrout*

Something that pissed me off was why pregnancy was brought up in the first place, and on top of that, encouraged. Hold up, let me go watch the latest episode of 16 and Pregnant so I could be even more motivated to become a teen mom.

In case you’re deliberating on reading this, let me give you a run-down of what occurred in the first, oh, two-thirds of the novel: (no spoilers, of course)

    1. Alex and Aiden making out
    2. Alex lusting over Aiden’s magically changing gray-silver eyes
    3. Sexxx
    4. Yelling at Seth/Apollo/whoever
    5. More kissing at inappropriate times
    6. More lusting
    7. Everyone (Aiden) talking about how speshul Alex is
    8. More sexxxx

No, seriously. The book ends on a sex scene.

One would think Ms. Armentrout got mixed up between her young adult and new adult novels.

What a great ending to a series filled with magic, cunning one liners, fantastic characters, a few snarky Greek gods and a heroine so powerful she ties it all together. Sentinel will leave you cheering, sighing and reveling in the magic that Armentrout created in this series and I hope for all the little daimon babies out there we see more of these characters in the future. Be it short stories, extra sneak peaks, whatever I'm not picky ;-)

Wow. What an ending. I devoured this book, and loved every second. Well, some of it was hard. Sad, tragic, funny, sexy, violent, an army of awesome (yes, they do call themselves that, and are indeed made of awesome), twists and turns, with unexpected characters, turns of events and an ending that blew me away. This was everything I wanted and more for a series ending. I have loved each of the books, swooning over Aiden, laughing with Alex, jaw dropped at the intense action and fighting. Smirking at the gods especially Apollo and Seth can be lumped into all of this too when they deserve it, rolling my eyes at other times, wanting to smack them, and not getting what was going on as well as in awe of the sacrifice and emotion going on with them. Aiden is as sweet, understanding, and supportive of Alex as well, and we get to see that streak of jealousy that makes me love him even more. Alex has really grown in some ways, learning that its okay to be afraid, that she needs to open up. In others she is still the same stubborn, fun loving, loyal girl she has been throughout the series. I think that we really get to see her strength in new ways and that she steps up in so many areas in this one. I was so proud of her. Seth really surprised me in this one, and what he ends up doing really had my jaw hitting the floor. He comes face to face with the bad decisions he's made and take a look at who he has become and what he needs to do to make up for it. I would love it if we got to see more from him so that we know what becomes of his choices. Hint, Hint Jennifer if by some chance you're reading this. I know that all of my questions were answered and the threads that I can remember were wrapped up to my satisfaction. It is so hard to review without spoiling anything, but this did not let me down at all. Bottom Line: Swoony, action packed series finale with a mind blowing ending.

I closed this book about fifteen minutes ago, and I kid you not my eyes are STILL red and puffy. I'm so incredibly sad that this is the end, but I'm also so incredibly happy that it ended this way. If you follow my blog, you know that I don't read very many series endings. The reason being, the final book is just so hard to get right. You have to tie up every loose end and answer any and every question the reader may have. And then, with the last ending I read *ahem* Allegiant *ahem* I was seriously disappointed. I wanted to strangle everyone afterwards. So I waited a week before starting this ending. I needed some time."Most of our problems stemmed from the gods' boredom."pg. 43But I don't even know why I was worried. JLA has done it again. This book is just as action packed as the rest of the series. The war is coming, and coming fast. Alex's army and the gods are getting desperate and come up with a spine tingling solution. Something I truly wasn't expecting. JLA has created another epic, nail biting, page turner."Have you ever heard of a bra?" I demanded. "Because I see your... you know. Everything.'"pg. 49As for the characters, Alex was definitely not as snarky as her "normal" self. Its quite obvious that she's grown so much throughout the series. And then there's Aiden. Oh gods, Aiden I love you! He is (and I'm sure always will be) my #1 Book Boyfriend. He was still so sweet, caring, loving, and strong. He did everything he could to make sure Alex was ok. She was always his main priority. And then, there's Seth. I applaud him. I doubted him for a LONG time, but in the end, he did what he had to do. Everything he did throughout the entire series was done for a reason."'What is it with gods and leather?" I muttered. [He] slid me a long look. "We make it look good."."pg. 166Last but not least, that ending tore me apart. Guys, if you're anything like me, grab your tissues. As I discussed with Jen from Jenuine Cupcakes, I HATED the ending, but it completely makes sense. After the war that took place, its only right that things happened that way. But it still didn't stop me from being a blubbering mess. I wasn't happy about it ending that way, but only for my own personal selfish reasons. It actually made sense that it happened that way."It was a beautiful day for a war."pg. 247In short, this was a great ending to one of my favorite series. I'm sad to see it end, but I'm also already looking forward to reading it again. I promise you, Alex's world will be a hard one to leave behind.
