After Care: A Romance for the Over 40
Author

L.B. Dunbar

Avid drinker of Coca-Cola, L.B. Dunbar loves the sweet things in life. Her affair with all things romantic began with her first book at the tender age of six: Goldilocks and the Three Bears. One can never forget her first! From there, the reading journey includes a deep love of fairy tales, medieval knights, regency debauchery, and alpha males. She loves a deep belly laugh and a strong hug. Occasionally, she has the energy of a Jack Russell terrier. Accused, yes, that’s the correct word, of having an over active imagination; to her benefit, such an imagination works well. Author of over a dozen novels, she’s created small town worlds, rock star mayhem, and MMA chaos. Her other duties in life include: mother to four growing children and wife to the one and only.

Edie is a cancer survivour and starting to live life again. The first step to doing that is a family vacation.

She's a recent divorcee and a very strong character, but she does have blips in her strength at times which I loved seeing because it shows that feelings run deep and not so easily dealt with. She deals with these feelings with Tommy, who she meets on vacation when they form a friendship with another family. There are fireworks from the get-go and they cannot stay away from each other.

It's funny seeing the family dynamic try to work out with the children also enjoying their holiday and Edie having a holiday romance. Edie and Tommy have a very spicy romance and L.B. Dunbar doesn't focus the whole book on Edie's recovery, it's part of the story and a large chunk of it but Tommy and friends bring the light heartedness to it.

Maaaaan, I wanted to like this book.
And if you like instalust, lots of "sex just for the sake of sex", rock star romances, and the COMPLETELY unexplained instant obsession of a rock icon with a, well, just normal old "Mom"......then you'll like this.

And btw, I AM just a "normal old Mom", myself.
Maybe that's why this just seemed like too much of a streeeeeetch, to me.

I tried. I really did. I don't DNF a book very often. But.....I just didn't care enough to keep going, when I realized that I was only 8 chapters into 22 of them.

LB Dunbar is a talented writer. This just didn't do it for me.

I have just wasted 9 hours. Seriously! I refuse to believe women in their 40s behave this desperately and stupidly. As per your story, I am still looking around for men in their 40s who are silver foxes. He didn't take time out to communicate in getting to know her. He just walk right in and demand what he wanted, when he wanted and she just responded like a homeless, desperate animal, after which she asked herself, 'what the hell am I doing?' I didn't know cancer survivor could go back to their regular diet eg. wines meats and caffeine.
