      This book was a whirlwind romance. So many twists and turns. I love a book that keeps me guessing. My only problem was that I felt very alike to the main character. So much so that it triggered me. The book was 80% about her issues and 20% about her strengths. It got a bit depressing for me. Also, I wish Tav and Portia’s issues had been resolved a little earlier in the book so I could see what they were like as a couple. But I’m an epilogue kinda girl. I like to see my happily ever after played out to the fullest. Still a great book. The bit about the queen towards the end was a little unbelievable but very humorous. All in all, a fun read.

      I loved the story but as a therapist, I am not sure about their use of an ADHD diagnosis in the book.

      I listened to the audio version of this book and while I overall enjoyed the story, as a Scottish girl, the Scots accent wasn’t even close. It seemed a mixture of Jamaican, Liverpool and Cockney but wasn’t like any Scots accent I’ve heard. It’s so sad because it threw me out a good story and totally distracted me, the biggest thing being that in every other aspect I loved this narrator but the pronunciation of certain Scots words felt criminal. Alyssa Cole writes fabulous heroines and I’ll read the next one instead.
