About this audiobook

The #1 bestselling series returns with a thrilling new story arc set in America!

Having defeated the monstrous threat that nearly destroyed the peculiar world, Jacob Portman is back where his story began, in Florida. Except now Miss Peregrine, Emma, and their peculiar friends are with him, and doing their best to blend in. But carefree days of beach visits and normalling lessons are soon interrupted by a discovery—a subterranean bunker that belonged to Jacob's grandfather, Abe.

Clues to Abe's double-life as a peculiar operative start to emerge, secrets long hidden in plain sight. And Jacob begins to learn about the dangerous legacy he has inherited—truths that were part of him long before he walked into Miss Peregrine's time loop.

Now, the stakes are higher than ever as Jacob and his friends are thrust into the untamed landscape of American peculiardom—a world with few ymbrynes, or rules—that none of them understand. New wonders, and dangers, await in this brilliant next chapter for Miss Peregrine's peculiar children.

I have been waiting for what I feel has been a very very long time since I am marathon read the last three books. I am happy to say that this book was worth the wait. I am not disappointed, just as good as all the rest. Bring on the fifth!

Jacob finds a connection to his grandfather’s old network and quickly realizes he is not prepared for dealing with American peculiars and their dangerous culture. In defying Miss Peregrine he gets an inkling that the European Inbrines are not as perfect as they portray themselves.

I was happy to find this was Book Four of the series and that there will be at least one more.

This is the second book in which as soon as the plot moves from UK to US the “regimen” people with super powers have turns practically non existent... America is a MESS... and I don’t like this in my books (Looking at you, Wayward Son). What is it about this piece of land that the British immigrants screwed up so much??? As much as I hate those red coats, I think I prefer some rules. Also, I know this is common in YA but Jacob cannot follow instructions and what it’s worse is that he’s disobeying for selfish reasons (it reminds me of City of Glass- Clary... ughhh) and it’s insufferable at most parts. I understand that this is needed for the plot but still (at least Clary did it when there was a system with rules).

Leaves the end wide open for future storyline....feels a little disconnected from the other books
