    Victoria Lee grew up in Durham, North Carolina, where she spent twelve ascetic years as a vegetarian before discovering that spicy chicken wings are, in fact, a delicacy. She’s been a state finalist competitive pianist, a hitchhiker, a pizza connoisseur, an EMT, an expat in China and Sweden, and a science doctoral student. She’s also a bit of a snob about fancy whiskey. Lee writes early in the morning and then spends the rest of the day trying to impress her border collie puppy and make her experiments work. She currently lives in Pennsylvania with her partner.

      Now dystopia themed novels are really not my thing, i find it hard to fall into for some reason, yet i found this book really enjoyable , admittedly i felt lost several times but the writing made it easy for me to follow through and fill in the gaps.
      the plot is straight forward and i managed to predict most of it including the ending but i still liked it and would definitely read the following book just so i can find out what would happen.
      If you liked books such as the Hunger games series, then you will like this one.

      Loved the plot and loved the pacing. I originally checked out the book because I started reading the webtoon and I'm glad I checked it out. I'll move on to the other books soon.

      Just another bury-your-gays story. Every gay character dies with the exception of one (the book ends with them being mind controlled). These tragedies happen because the characters pursue same-sex relationships. One of the gay characters commits suicide and its seen as a good thing. The Hays Code would approve. There were also some plot lines I felt had been forgotten or left unresolved. Otherwise, the characters were interesting and it was a nice concept. (Trigger warning, there is sexual assault mentioned)

      The story itself is super captivating and I love the characters, but I struggle with the romance. It was a bit too quick and too superficial for me to really feel the connection.

      The story is gripping and the narrator did great! Loved this book so much and the sequel (The Electric Heir) is one of the best books I've read this year!

      Overall I really enjoyed this book, and I appreciated the way that modern cultures and identities (mainly Judaism) where incorporated into a futuristic book.

      However, I found the romantic interest was somewhat underdeveloped, and that the romance itself could have been more fully developed, it felt strangely fast and I didn't get much of a sense of why the characters liked each other. I also felt that there where important themes (alcohol abuse, sexual assault, suicide) that where discussed but given the gravity they should have been given.

      I found the storyline enjoyable but predictable, and the metaphors for current issues to have good messages but to be a little bit heavy handed. That said, I'm defiantly older than the target audience.
