INTRODUCTION
Welcome to India, especially to the southern State of Kerala. India is a wonderful tourist destination. One of the best places to see for the first time visitor to India is Kerala, also fondly called as God’s Own Country. This small land has several unique features that make it a fascinating and rewarding place for a visitor to this part of the world. Kerala has been emerging as an important international tourist destination. Many times this beautiful little land was mentioned in various travel magazines as one of the top destinations of the world.
Kerala is the melting pot of many cultures and civilizations and has a rich heritage, According to mythology, Kerala was retrieved by Parasuram, the 6th avatar of Lord Vishnu.
For a tourist, this magic land with her sprawling plantations and paddy fields, offers idyllic beaches, stupendous monuments, exotic wildlife, spectacular festivals, holistic health care, exotic cuisine and outstanding resorts to stay.
Kerala, being a tourist friendly place, attracts visitors from all parts of the world. Kerala is a very developed state with a high literacy rate. The people are friendly and helpful.

Geographically, Kerala is divided into three distinct regions – High lands, Mid lands and Lowlands.
Highlands -The major plantations like tea, coffee, rubber, cardamom and other spices are in the Highlands.
The Midlands – fertile land - are made up of hills and valleys, and here the main cultivation takes place such as cashew, coconut, areca nut, tapioca (cassava), banana, rice, ginger, pepper, sugarcane and vegetables.
The Lowlands - coastal plains.
