- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Whether or not you believe in crying it out - read this book. Ferber suggested method for breaking sleep associations is conterversial (and misrepresented) and in all honesty I am not sure it is for me. That said, I learnt more about sleep from reading this book than I did from any other book and regret neither buying nor reading it. This book goes through how to set a schedule for your child and delves into more setting more realistic expectations of sleeping hours and explains how to detect sleep disorders that go beyond wanting to feed at night. Do not dismiss this book off hand based on someone else opinion of CIO - this book can teach you a lot.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Ferber's book about solving the problems of your child's sleep is an excellent work that uses the science of sleep to help troubled parents such as my mother to get their restless children to sleep. Many parents disagree with his methods and see it as an awful 'cry it out' method which involves letting the child scream all night when Ferber's method uses visits with increasing intervals in time. His book is still a great book for any parents having trouble and should be considered a must-read for parents having trouble.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent book. Totally misinterpreted by the masses. Contrary to popular misconception, Ferber does not suggest "cry it out". This book is the only method that worked for my daughter. Sleep is a beautiful thing. If you are against letting your child cry in short intervals where you provide comfort in order to teach them to self soothe, then this book is not for you.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I like the variety of material. Very interesting and useful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It really helps me and my child. Ther r so much more details than those 'summaries' posted online. And they r really helpful. To avoid treating your child s sleeping problem in a wrong way, you should read this first then decide what is his/ her problem.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love this book! Followed Ferber’s suggestions to help my first child sleep. Worked like a charm and did not feel as cruel as a typical cry it out method. He puts a lot of thought, science, and logic into his method and makes complete sense why it works if you read the book versus just the online summaries. Downloading it for a second time to help my daughter sleep after she’s been waking up every hour.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I hated this book, and I complete disagree with his suggested method of allowing your child to cry his/herself to sleep.
