About this ebook

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Lauren Blakely comes a steamy romance that follows Kennedy as she falls for Noah . . . even though she shouldn't.

When I first met him I resisted.
Like any forbidden love, I told myself he was a crush, and it would pass.
That was a lie. It never faded.

And I never expected he would fall for me just as hard.

There were so many reasons that should have kept us apart, least of all, the decade that separated us.
Growing up in New York City, I learned early on that love is a double-edged sword.

Love broke up my parents, love took away my friends, and love -- the big, intense, never-been-like-this-before
love -- landed me in therapy.

Now I'm heading to college, and it's time to give love a clean slate again. But, can I really start over when he's still in my life?

Because the one man I've always wanted, and also the only guy I absolutely can't have…
And he wants me just as fiercely.

Can I settle for anything less than the love of my life?

The cover is amazing, the synopsis caught my eye, and I saw a few really awesome reviews. What it all led to was copious disappointment in what turned out to be nothing more than a ridiculous infatuation posing as love. I had a lot of hope here. This type of forbidden romance verges on what could be some heavy subject matter, but instead it was written like a high school romance. Both of the main characters were ridiculously immature, which I guess made it more believable that they would date despite the age difference, but it was incredibly hard to believe that Noah, this grown **** man who was so successful in the business world as an agent was this same guy that was swooning after the likes of Kennedy. The same Kennedy who is running the streets with a teenage boy while trying to make some silly amends for her mother's behavior. Even worse, Kennedy is the one kind of calling the shots in the relationship. Really? I don't see that as any sort of realistic.[image error]The book is written from both Kennedy and Noah's perspective, but unfortunately they were too similar in character to be able to say that they were well developed. They both thought in that same choppy way that makes me feel like I was being told a story instead of experiencing one. Read the synopsis. See? Choppy. I don't know why I expected that that was for the synopsis alone.I kept reading for no other reason than to see how things would play out in the end. I think that there was a real opportunity to write in a lesson learned and a real tragedy of sorts, but no. I was left even madder at myself for persevering. I really hate to not say anything good at all in a review, but seriously, other than the very early beginning where I thought that this was going somewhere cool (which it could have), I didn't enjoy this book at all.So, what should you do now that you have read this incredibly negative review? Go off and read some positive ones and see what you think. I have read a couple of gushers, so you never know.
