This is NOT a fake book. It's the real deal. Excellent and accurate transcriptions (for the several songs I've read through so far). Not for beginners. Again, this is by no means a fake book. Please. These are full-on transcriptions you would find in the back of Guitar Player and the old but excellent GFTPM.

This would be a great book to teach intermediate guitarists, namely reading more involved music (depending on the piece), incorporating the harmonization of scales and modes, plus modulation, secondary dominants, etc. I saw great examples of these subjects in the three pieces I just read through. There are simple tunes (Crazy Little Thing Called Love) to ground breaking pieces, like Living Colour's Cult of Personality. All of us who were playing in the late 1970s remember the wonderful tone and classical influence of Randy Rhoades. Crazy Train is relatively easy for an intermediate player; young guitarists deserve to hear and play the stylings of Randy Rhoades. He played with so much heart.

Anyway, enjoy the book. But for the last time, it's no fake book. There are way more than the head, chord charts, lyrics, and strumming patterns within these pages.

If you're looking for an actual fake book with rock n roll tunes, The Beatles Easy Fake Book is a good place to start. Every tune is in the key of C. It's a fake book, so the guitar parts are going to be easy, not 100% accurate to the pieces as they're played on the albums. But that's a fake book. The great thing is, once you learn more about chords, chord voicings, and theory, you can embellish the fake book to no end. Even practice transcribing into the keys the tunes are played on the albums!

(I'm currently 100% disabled due to spine injury, but I continue to write/compose and I study theory daily. I used to play everything by ear, but in order to continue writing without playing, I had to learn to read and write music. This book is a good book for intermediate players.)
