About this ebook

It’s Easter morning when it happens: Charlie is gardening and stumbles upon a brown, palm-sized frog underneath a clot of dirt.

He’s astonished to discover that the frog not only has a name—Todd Thomas III—but it also talks!

The two try to understand one another, but the frog often takes Charlie’s words too literally, and Charlie struggles to understand the world of speaking animals that the frog says exists. Even Charlie’s cat, Clyde, can talk, the frog claims.

But that is nothing compared to what Todd Thomas III says next: He’s a magical frog and can grant Charlie three wishes—but he needs to use them by the end of the summer. While Charlie isn’t sure what to believe at first, he starts to trust after finding out that his cat can, in fact, talk. He even learns that Clyde and Todd are friends.

The wishes are for Charlie alone, and he’ll need to think long and hard before going back to Todd Thomas III to make his first one: to be there for the very first Christmas.

Author

DW Cantrell

D. W. Cantrell—or Mr. C, as his friends call him—was born in El Paso, Texas, in 1952 and moved to Atlanta Georgia in 1966. He became a disc jockey and radio personality and dabbled with a new form of entertainment (cable television) as host for a local television program. In the 1970s, he entered the USAF, and after many hats and careers, the world came to know him as America’s home improvement expert on the Discovery Channel. By the end of the century, Mr. C’s career hats could not be easily counted. Then on September 11, 2001, he took off the carpenter and entertainment hats for a brown, stiff-brimmed hat and badge of a deputy sheriff. What never changed was his love for storytelling. Over the past fifty years, he has amassed a collection of poems, short stories, children’s stories, science fiction novels and screen plays, but he never considered publishing any of his work until Todd came into his life. Mr. C met Todd some years back when Todd asked his story be told. Mr. C agreed, and the children’s series A Story of Todd Thomas Turner the Third from Tallapoosa was the result. In telling Todd’s story, two cats were introduced to the world, Bonnie and her brother, Clyde. Being a self-centered, ego-driven cat, Clyde demanded his story also be told as well, so The Adventures of Bonnie and Clyde can also be found on bookshelves. As for Mr. C, if asked to talk about himself, you get a lengthy tall tale full of humor and stretched imagination, or he will say, “Just read my stories. You’ll find me there.”
