I’m TJ Weeks, author of many psychological suspense/thrillers.  I’ve been writing since I was a young child. I guess you could say it’s one of my many passions. I also enjoy music. I love to write lyrics and hear the sounds come to life after the product is done. Kind of like my writing, it all starts with a thought of a character, then after a while of writing you get to learn each character as I have. Even though I write novels, I love to write poetry as well. Outside of writing I served eight years in the military. I served one deployment to Iraq. I did vocals for a band for eighteen years. I also enjoy the outdoors and traveling.

The sun was breaking the surface of the horizon as Thomas Felton was making his normal trip to Castle Rock to pick up some supplies when he noticed a white wooden sign nailed to the side of a large oak tree stating ten thousand acres for sale by owner.

Thomas pulled his blue and white forty-seven firebird over to the side of the road to write down the number posted. He felt a sense of happiness come over him as he pulled back onto the dirt road. He had been looking into land in the area for a long time.

Since Thomas was just a small child he had a way of bringing in money. He started off when he was simply asked to deliver a paper. He wasn’t excited about breaking away from his playtime, but when he returned, his father had paid him a whole dime. It was from that exact moment that Thomas decided money was better than his toys.

He wasn’t like most kids that would go blow his money. He kept his money in a mason jar until he got old enough to open up a bank account. Thomas made monthly calls to his bank to check on the interest his money had gained. Even if it was only fractions of a cent, it made him happy to know that it was constantly building.

He was twenty-one years old when Sherri Coal caught his eye. She was five foot three inches tall; she had beautiful blonde wavy hair that came down to the small of her back. Her eye’s entangled with beautiful green colors and her lips were full.

She was eighteen at the time they first met. She was walking across the street to drop a letter into the blue drop box at the USPS.

He didn’t waste any time making his way over to the captivating beautiful woman.

That didn’t happen to be to your boyfriend, did it? Thomas had questioned about the letter as he approached.

She snickered a bit as she turned around to see this tall broad shouldered young man with short brown hair and a short mustache standing over her.

No, it was a college enrollment form. She answered.

Well it’s a good thing because I was going to have a heart attack right here if I couldn’t talk to you. Thomas jokingly had told her.

Guess I saved a life today. Sherri replied in a sarcastic manner.

They exchanged numbers before they went their separate ways.

Thomas called Sherri that same night and talked to her for hours.

They talked every night for about six months before she agreed to say that they were a couple.

Sherri had started taking online courses to be home more. By their second year of being a couple, Thomas had invited her to the lake. They swam together for several hours and when it was getting close to dark and the sun rippled off of the water, he played it off like they needed to go.

Sherri got out of the lake and started drying off with a towel as Thomas laid a towel down behind her. The sun was setting as she turned around to see him on one knee and holding up a ring.

They got married four months later and had a child almost three years after that. They named her Sidnie Kristine Felton.

During that time Thomas was part of a company that designed buildings to put into the nearby towns. He was the one that made the designs to fit precisely the exact place needed in between buildings or houses or wherever wanted so that they did not interfere with other locations already there. When anyone needed the help to design something to fit certain places, even people from afar would come Thomas. He made a great living at doing that and normally put a majority of his checks in savings. He always told Sherri that if they didn’t live a life of complete luxury that they would always have a nest egg to fall back on.

One day Thomas came home smiling ear to ear.

Honey... Where are you? Thomas stated walking through the green front door of their home.

I’m in the laundry room, dear. Sherri hollered back.

Thomas made his way back through the three bedroom two bath house till he made his way to the back with Sherri.

I’ve got some great news! Thomas suggested.

Sherri could see the excitement written across his face as she looked up from throwing some clothes into the dryer.

Well, what is it? She asked.

I was driving into Castle Rock a couple of months ago and saw a sign on the side of the road on some land. Well...They called me back and I bought it! Thomas cheerfully stated.

So the land is in Castle Rock? Sherri questioned with a blank expression on her face.

No, no, it’s about twenty miles out of town. It’s ten thousand acres though and I was thinking we could build our own town, a town that we can raise our family in. Thomas suggested.

That’s going to cost a fortune, dear. Sherri offered up.

We can afford it. Plus we can get some companies put up and quickly make it back. Thomas stated.

You’ve been saving for as long as I’ve known you. So if this is really what you want to spend it on, I’ll back you. Sherri stated with a smile as she understood that her husband has never done anything for himself and the she would be doing right by standing with him.

The town started going up right away. Thomas never took Sherri to see any of the process. He wanted to surprise her to see what he had put together for their family.

Thomas started with their house and a school. He made the drive everyday to watch its progress. Watching the wood frames go up one at a time. He would even help the contractors from time to time by beating in some nails and slapping some paint here and there.

Their house was a white two story trimmed out with hunter green with only two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs. It was equipped with three bathrooms. The living room was a good size to put all the furniture Sherri would want and the kitchen was huge with an island in the center with a chopping block top and a walk in pantry off to the side.

Thomas worked day and night painting the inside. He painted each room trimmed out all the base boards and stair case railing in white.

It didn’t take long before he had general stores and markets going up next to the roadside to help bring attention to the town and to bring in jobs. He also decided to name the town and staked a huge sign at both ends of his property lines stating Welcome to Valley Drift. The signs were bordered in hunter green with beige centers and the lettering written in hunter green and outlined in maroon.

Thomas had taken all of the appropriate measures for making sure that all of the permits were taken care of and that if something did happen that Valley Drift was registered with the nearby authorities and emergency medical teams.

Thomas also decided to start building some houses of all different sizes that could be bought by other families as well as a small City Hall in the center of his little town.

The houses were fairly basic with lots of room to add on. He even fenced in each and every yard to make it safer for the kids to play or if they had any pets. He had thought about adding dog doors to make the houses a little more pet friendly, but decided to leave that up to the purchasers.

Once the entire town was built, he had pea gravel driveways put in for all of the houses and had a concrete driveway put in at his house.

It was time to hire the movers and to finally show Sherri his masterpiece.

Thomas pulled into their driveway and ran into the house. He picked Sherri up and carried her to the car, Sidnie followed closely as she giggled at the sight of her dad carrying her mother in such a way.

What in the world are you doing Thomas? Put me down. Sherri laughed as she swatted him on the back.

Thomas sat her in the car and let Sidnie crawl onto her lap and closed the door.

I have something to show you, I hope you love it.

Thomas drove down the driveway and out to the highway towards his empire that he had waited so long to show Sherri.

    Pulling slowly to the
