Matthew Inman is hilarious. I had some good giggles reading this. It probably would have been a great deal funnier if I owned a cat (or if a cat owned me).

This is a funny book to read & if you have ever owned a cat....you will know for sure what the author is expressing. Really like reading an Adult comic book, well illustrated! Some of the material is expressed in a "potty mouth" way but it is just a hilarious book. You will laugh!

Not really a graphic novel but a collection of cartoons, I'm guessing from newspapers. For anyone who is a cat owner, there are a lot of "oh... yes... my cat has SO done that..." moments, and most are funny. A few are laugh-out-loud funny! I was given this book (hard copy), and I am happy to own it. It is not for kids, however, as there are some raunchier skits in it.

A quick read with glossy pages and nice color, and British humor (which I like).

This book was a hilarious interpretation of life with a cat. Matthew Inman has obviously been owned by a kitty. My favorite chapter was If we treated our cats like they treat us". Ah, sweet revenge. The chapter I didn't care for was "How to tell if your cat is a raging homosexual". I was just kind of like "Really, who cares?" Overall, I was laughing so hard I fell off the couch."

A very funny and light hearted book. You aren't going to learn anything from this book. And that's okay. Sometimes it's nice to read something solely to brighten your mood. This is a must read for cat lovers as it portrays many of the common experiences cat owners share (staring contests, the dangers of petting a cat's tummy, cat races at 3 a.m.).The book is comprised of charts and comics, making it a very quick read. Simple, yet delightful.

This book reveals long-hidden truths about cats, though it is cleverly disguised as a humorous comic book.

This was a runner-up for the 2012 "Best in Humor" Goodreads of the year award and with good reason. This book was hilarious six ways from Sunday! The author, Matthew Inman, an innate comedic genius and cat whisperer, authored this LOL, comic strip-style book that presents cats and their behavior anthropomorphically (a style similar to Gary Larson's "The Far Side")

    Author Inman's secret recipe:

All Natural, No-Meth, Endorphin Releaser (see disclaimer)

This CATalicious dessert, made from an exotic blend of humor genera, creates a unique, endorphin-releasing, mirthful experience bound to arrest even the most sour of moods.

Take equal parts of blue and CAThartic humor; add 1/2-Cup situational cat behavior and a teaspoon of anecdotal examples; bake at 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes. Remove from oven allow to cool. Sprinkle with a touch of macabre for artistic presentation.

Yield: 1 serving of stress-relieving, blood-pressure lowering, heart healthy dose of humor.

Disclaimer: Recipe quality may suffer or flop altogether for those who haven't had any experience with cats. Cat owners/lovers will experience a greater more satisfying result; whereas cat haters and/or ignoramuses will only be wasting their time trying to find the door to the inner circle of the former.

I got this for my birthday last year and I haven't stopped laughing since! The sad thing is, some of the behaviors are quite accurate...

The witty, true-to-life observations about strange cat behavior were laugh out loud great. I wish the whole book had been nothing but funny truths and possible schemes that your cat is trying to kill you. However, mid-way through the book there's a mini-office tale in which two cats are working like humans. It was just ok to me, sorta the slow point of the book. Also, there's a possibly offensive section about trying to make your gay cat straight again. Just not my sense of humor. So, overall, the book was a mix of parts I LOVED and parts I really could have done without.

I've never really checked out The Oatmeal, and maybe that impacted how I felt about this book. I'd seen some of the stuff in the book, because it had been shared by various people. Anyway, the book is funny. It is a bit repetitive, but that's kind of par for the course with some comedy/humor books. Even though I really enjoyed this book, I'm not sure if I would be willing to buy it. It's not exactly something that would be entertaining after you've already read it. I would suggest people check it out from their local libraries, unless they are collectors of stuff by The Oatmeal.

This book was funny. It wasn't all that appropriate and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone doesn't approve of that kind of humor, but it was a Christmas present from a close friend and he and I do enjoy that humor on occasion. This was very funny.

Oh The Oatmeal. You are both a bit offensive and very very true. This is not your cats as higher beings book - this is cats as they come - base creatures who enjoy taunting things. My favourite cartoon I think is "how to tell if you cat is a raging homosexual". Its so completely stupid... and funny.

I received this book as a gift and it was a funny flick through, there are some real laugh out loud sections and there are a couple that get a little chuckle but overall it is a quaint little book for cat lovers.

If you're a fan of The Oatmeal you will love this book. The comics are all about cats and their strange (yet oftentimes adorable) ways. Some are on The Oatmeal's website, so take a look there if you are curious about the humor. It's definitely a bit of the standard guy humor, but really anyone who has been around cats can enjoy it.

I did not buy this. Matthew Inman is a jerk, as proved when for disagreeing with him, I got showered with abuse from thousands of his followers who he set on me for three days. You wouldn't believe the misogynistic, homophobic crap they spouted at me and which he encouraged. I won't repeat it, but it was the usual sort of thing.

Unfortunately, I used to like reading his stuff, so I was tempted by this and flicked through. I do think it'd be a good gift for someone if you don't mind throwing money (and therefore support and implicit approval) in this guy's direction: there is nothing of the homophobic/misogynistic/bullying behaviour here. Just stuff about cats. His bit about how to tell cats are planning to kill you has always struck me as pretty true.

His humour does get pretty repetitive, though.

    omfg, this book is hilarious.
And I know my cats are plotting to kill me. As long as I continue to provide the gooshy food I've got a temporary reprieve though.

Husbeast brought this home for me as a surprise from his weekend trip. A series of comics about cats. Does what it says on the tin and is hilarious. Laugh out loud funny. Recommended for a giggle.

I've been a huge Oatmeal fan for years, and this book did not disappoint. I'd seen some of it on the web site, like "How to Pet a Kitty" and most of the Bobcats material, but there's a lot of new stuff too. I'm so glad I got the paper version, because I'm going to frame the included poster. Because I'm a dork who is also a crazy cat person.

If you like cats and you like funny things, get this book. If you don't like cats and funny things, buy this book anyway because The Oatmeal is cool and deserves all your money!

Some laugh out loud moments, some "meh" moments and a lot of spot-on observations about the joys of being owned and manipulated by your cat. I think my husband will get a kick out of this and I'm sure a few of the entries will hit him as being funnier than did me. (I totally didn't get the BobCats thing.)

Cat-based humor from the twisted mind behind the website The Oatmeal, including cartoons originally published there, some new ones produced specifically for this book, and a foldout "How to tell if your cat is plotting to kill you" poster that I fully intend to hang up somewhere in my house. As well as a guide to telling if your cat is plotting to kill you, this volume also includes such things as helpful hints on "how to pet a kitty," a guide to "having a baby vs having a cat" (the cat wins), and a five-part comic strip about two jerkass cats named Bob who, for some reason, have jobs at what appears to be some kind of software company. The humor ranges from only very vaguely amusing to utterly brilliant. I think the most brilliant stuff is what's recycled from the web, unfortunately, but it's fun to have it in book form, anyway.

I saw this and I just had to buy it!

I have two cats,(evil as hell) and reading this book made me half way die laughing and go, yeah my cats does that. But then I start thinking, my laughter stops, are my cats trying to kill me?... Well that would clear something's up...well, now what do I do? [panic ensues]...lol..

I love the comics, the artwork, and it came with poster!

You should really pick up this book, if you know cats, have a cat, (or don't, you'll still get it)you'll bust a gut, but at the sametime, in the back of your mind, you'll think, Is he really?

Sleep with one eye open. lol
