About this ebook

Hidden History Beneath Folsom Lake – Rattlesnake Bar to Birdsall Dam is the third of a five part series that recorded many historical gold rush sites revealed when Folsom Lake hit record low water levels during the drought of 2015. On numerous hikes across the drought parched Folsom Lake bed, Kevin Knauss took numerous photos of historical sites and structures that were usually covered by water. Knauss researched the various sites and structures, some dating back to the 1850s, and marked the spots on various maps included in the book. He also includes newspaper accounts and recollections of the life and landscape as it was witnessed before Folsom Dam was built at the confluence of the North and South forks of the American River.

The Rattlesnake Bar to Birdsall Dam book includes many photos and maps showing the old Rattlesnake Bar Bridge, water canal features of the North Fork Ditch, remnants of the Birdsall Dam that diverted the North Fork of the American River into the NFD, and the spectacular waterfalls of Knickerbocker Creek.
