About this ebook
A Starving Mind: Stories & Thoughts is pretty much all of what the title references: poems filled with stories befitting any novel and insight to a mind's thoughts, starving knowledge, and understanding.
Poet B.J. Burgins draws from the pits of everyday life, desires, worldly views, love, passion, and pain. A Starving Mind reeks undertones of a songbook, modernized in prose, with a creative, innovative writing style in the poetry medium. A raw voice sweating with passion and grit, like some of R&B and soul music's grand masters and reminiscent of the genre's most prolific songwriters, while dripping with phrases as catchy as some of pop music's greatest hits, with the swagger of hip hop’s greatest lyricists and song stylists, along with stories as straightforward as country music's best told dramas of pain and joy.
B.J. Burgins has drawn from personal, imaginative and artistic creativity within the depths of poetry, bringing to it a new twist from his heart and soul. Inspired by wisdom, long passed individuals, life, beauty and joy, A Starving Mind is a must read for all poetry lovers.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The various topics stood out along with the story lines. For to be based solely around poetry it's just as the publisher stated, it's befitting the product of novelty, very sincere and thoughtful, simply a great reading adventure. "Prose from the gutter"! Great stuff
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great! Very entertaining, greater page turner than a novel; reminiscent of Gwendolyn Brooks and similar to Walter Mosley's Easy Rawlins series in character descriptions and scenarios.
Must read for anybody that simply likes to read, you won't be let down! Five Stars + - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was really a good read, being that I don't read much as liked. Very urban fiction feeling in poetry form, clear and lyrical. "Ode to the Lady" and "More Than A Man" are very deep and somewhat I could relate to, I hope he'll release some more works soon, such as romantic prose because I believe it'll be spectacular.
